About Marlton

Marlton is a small community located in New Jersey's Burlington County. Considered part of the larger Evesham Township, it covers just over 3 square miles. Just 15 miles away from Philadelphia, Marlton offers a quiet suburban lifestyle with quick access to big-city amenities and entertainment.

The History of Marlton

Marlton has a rich history that started with settlements of English and Welsh Quakers in the mid-1600s. One of the early settlers, Thomas Eves, might have lent the Evesham Township its name, though historians also believe the moniker might have come from the borough of Evesham in England.

Over the years, other towns have annexed portions of Evesham Township to create their own communities. Marlton became a village in the mid-1700s and then earned its name in 1845. The post office and other major landmarks bear the name Marlton, and the local government requires home and business owners to retain the historical purity of the township's buildings.

The community has a balance of chain businesses and local establishments, which contributes to its small-town feel. You can visit a family-owned pizzeria, grab a few necessities at a major grocery chain and then enjoy dessert at a neighborhood diner.
