About Berlin

Berlin is a small borough in the western region of New Jersey. Only 17 miles from Philadelphia, is an ideal community for those looking to be close to a large city while still enjoying a quiet suburban lifestyle.

The History of Berlin

In Berlin's early history, it was a small farming community of settlers. Other industries that were important to the area at this time were blacksmithing, cider manufacturing and glass production. In the 1850s, the Camden & Atlantic Railroad came to the area, which was named Long-a-Coming at the time. The railroad brought an economic and population boom to the area, a popular rest stop for travelers halfway between Philadelphia and Atlantic City and for those who wanted to get away from the larger cities. The name changed to Berlin in 1872, and although it is ideally located and has seen a number of population booms over the decades, it remains a small community today.
