About Broadview Heights

Broadview Heights is a midsize suburban city in the Cleveland metro area, in the northeastern region of Ohio. Many families are attracted to the community for its highly-rated schools, which have won a number of academic awards and sports championships over the years. The History of Broadview Heights

Native Americans originally inhabited the land where Broadview Heights now stands. In the early 1800s, surveyor Seth Paine was sent to the area by Colonel John Breck. His task was to begin preparations for the community of Brecksville Township, which would later become Broadview Heights. At the time, the township encompassed modern-day Broadview Heights, Brecksville and North Royalton.

The community got off to an excellent start, welcoming major industrial development. By 1840, it was home to a tannery, a cheese factory, four saw-mills, three distilleries and a number of grist-mills. The town even had a local switchboard, allowing telephone communication with neighboring communities. In 1926, Broadview Heights was officially incorporated.
