Bensalem is a large township in southeastern Pennsylvania, located on the northwest border of the city of Philadelphia. Growden built a manor he called The Manor of Bensalem, in honor of William Penn, a Quaker and founder of the Province of Pennsylvania, combined with the Semitic term for peace, "salem."
