Both elevators are broken and there’s no heat. This is the second time in two weeks that there was no elevator in service and customers had to use the stairs
I am writing to complain because this has not been the first time I have experienced customer service issues at this location and reverse racism. This daytime manager or staff member, because I have had multiple encounters with her during the day. Absolutely, needs to be retrained on customer service to their loyal customers. I have held an up to date account at this location since Summer of 2022, and my rent has been raised three times.
I don’t pass by this storage often as holiday decorations and artwork is stored in my unit. However almost every time I pass there is always an issue with the property. They require you to buy their lock. This is fine however the lock I initially bought with the unit was not good, over the course of 6-8 months I had broken both keys. This happened when my father was helping me move some boxes into the unit. We had walked down to the front desk this same employee I have problems with was working. We explained the situation, she said there was nothing she could do, she always seems to be going on her “lunch break” and this is important to her because she always explains how she is sick of being bothered on her breaks. She said the lock needed to be cut off by someone who comes in only once a month and I would have to wait. My father was very upset. However, we still treated her with kindness and respect and she could have cared less about the frustration in our voices. My father then wrote two honest reviews about the property and level of customer service lacking on a consistent basis. The district manager saw our reviews and this employee called me back the next day and said my lock would be removed.
There have been a handful of times I had random questions very easy or the keypad was not working. This exact employee continues to treat me with zero respect and as if I am bothering her, there have been multiple times I have catered to her timing or “ lunch break” and let it go.
However, today I too was on my lunch break, and simply wanted a cart to carry 8 boxes up to my unit. I arrived around 1pm, she had walked out and I asked her for the carts. She said she needed to go upstairs and just got the elevator to work. I said okay no problem and continue to wait patiently for about another 5 minutes. She walks out of the office and says that she has to take her lunch now, and cannot bring down the carts right away. I asked her very nicely and respectfully if she could bring one down for me please, as I was on a time crunch. She continued to raise her voice at me, cut me off by raising her voice. In security camera footage if there is sound, you would hear myself not raising my voice but asking nicely and she tells me she won’t and she has been cursed out all day by customers. Also; asked me in my job when it is time to take my lunch and a customer bothers me, do I help them. I can only speak for myself but yes, I help especially a simple problem as getting a cart on the top floor. During our exchange a man with brown skin walked in and said hello to her, I ended this conversation explaining to her how I again did not want to complain about her, but her disregard for people well now I am thinking she does not like people with fair skin. I had carried 8 boxes up without a cart. On one of my last trips, this man who pulled in after me had a cart. However I looked around and this employee was no where to be seen. I continued with my boxes as I was pressed for time. When I was done with all my trips 4 specifically. I saw there were 3 carts outside as there usually is, there is something called reverse racism or we can call it racism. She definitely has an issue with people with fair skin. She needs to be retrained in customer service and educated how to treat people. She should take pride in her job and some sort of integrity and these she lacks. I would not recommend this place to anyone, in terms of simple customer service they lack.
I don't think public storage realizes how hard their employee Mari works. She"s extremely polite and helpful constantly working not just sitting around. She definitely needs a raise or bonus for her great work. Need more employees like her.
My mom passed away in September leaving a huge storage unit for me to deal with. Tiffany was/is amazing! She stepped in and gave me time to get myself together to deal with the situation and really showed care and concern with my situation. Thanks you so much, Tiffany!!

Avoid this place! There's been an ongoing issue with just one elevator functioning for an extended period. The restrooms have also been out of order for some time. Although they were operational today, Tiffany couldn't locate the keys.

362 W. Chicago Ave Location is not good. There's multiple times I have visited the location during normal business hours and no worker was present. Call customer service and they stated someone should be working.
They also increase rates by $50 every 6 months. The only way to lower your rate is to cancel the contract and move to a new unit which of course is a hassle.
My account was on autopay. I was unaware the autopay didn't process correctly and I was charged $62 for a 7 day late fee. Highest late fee I've ever seen anywhere.
Storage space is Overpriced. 10x10 for $322.
Customer service is zero! You will not receive help from associates even when in store. They will watch you do everything yourself and/or want you to use the mobile app for everything while you watch them talk on their cellphones.

UPDATE: I withdraw my praise for Public Storage, though Tiffany is very kind. Exactly at the six-month mark, I received a 30-day notice that my rent would increase by 50%, which is egregious. My request for a deferral was automatically rejected by the Public Storage computer system, as confirmed by the customer service representative. The representative was friendly and said she'd put in another request for an actual review. It was again rejected within an hour. I had every intention of being a long-term renter, but a 50% increase makes my rent far above what is market standard for my unit.

Tiffany is the property manager and she did a great job with my reservation. She was helpful and worked hard to give me a unit that was near my family. She was patient and friendly. I would gladly recommend this facility.
They make you purchase locks from them for your storage unit. You can not use your own. The problem is that the keys are made of inferior metal and break off in the lock. As for any customer service , none , nada , the lady at the front desk did not offer any assistance. You have to do it on your own, even though you buy inferior
locks from then. I suggest you do not use
this company. The key breaking off in the lock is a common thing I hear from other
patrons of this place.
3/14/2023 The day after I posted this review, Received a call from the company wanting to make things right. Will follow with this review after they make good.
3/16/2023 : Public Storage made good on what they said they would. They cut off the old lock that had the key broke off in it and replaced it with a new lock. As they said they would. Thank you Public Storage for making thing right.

This place actually exceeded my expectations in many ways. First, was able to do the whole thing online and got access to my locker same day without having to talk to anyone.
They have great security and pretty cool tech in their app. You can open the front gate for parking from your phone. And it's very secure, you have your own PIN to access your floor.
The onsite staff is very friendly and helpful. I outgrew my first locker, they easily helped me transition to a bigger space. I accidentally left something in my old locker and the property manager Tiffany made sure it got safely returned.
They couldn't have made storage any easier. Pleasantly surprised and happy with my entire experience here and have been renting for about a year now.

The promotion given on their website is not applicable. That’s the only reason I choose this particular storage unit. Then while my sister I were having trouble with the elevators and our code, the property manager Tiffany at the 362 Chicago location told us it was not her job to help us with the elevator. I will be gladly moving out at the end of the month. If these are the prices I’m going to pay and the service I get, I’d rather pay somewhere else.

So thankful for Tiffany at this Public Storage location!! After a hectic afternoon searching for something in our unit, we forgot to place the lock back on our locker. Shortly after, Tiffany called to notify us. It is difficult to have to store your personal items outside of your home, but knowing that someone as observant and diligent as Tiffany is looking out for us brings peace of mind.

If you near storage in the River North area of Chicago, Public Storage is the best. I rented from a few other places but they were not as nice or secure as Public Storage. Tiffany is the best and is very helpful. If I move back to Chicago I would use them again!

Go Anywhere else! Tiffany runs away when you arrive so that she does not have to unlock the carts, has happened at least three times. When I repeatedly knocked on the door she finally came to the door upset that I didn't already know she was on lunch break at 10:30AM... Even though she came to the door she claimed the keys for the cart were lost. Then proceeded to quickly lock the door and run away again. They don't mention when you sign up that you will in-fact not be helped by staff or allowed to use a cart. I have left multiple messages for the location manager with no response, clearly does not care.
Interesting that other reviews have received responses , but not this one? I've experienced 3+ horrible experiences and never a call back from the manager or a second look at my reviews...
