Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 6375 Bren Mar Drive, Alexandria, VA

I liked this warehouse very much, it is clean and tidy, also the employee Emmad helped me, I thank him for his professional behavior.

So far, Public Storage has exceeded my expectations. The service was wonderful and the rep was professional and had a great sense of humor. She led me through the process and help me with all my questions. The storage area was easily accessible by my movers and the spaces are very clean. I'm glad I did this with Public Storage.

DO NOT STORE YOUR VALUABLES, BELONGINGS OR PROPERTY AT THIS PUBLIC STORAGE FACILITY… ITS INFESTED WITH ROACHES AND VERMIN!!!!!! The good reviews are fake. The property manager Jen or Jennifer (which ever she tells you) is awful and never “knows anything”, “doesn’t have the ability” or she “has no control of anything” according to her. As of September 2024 this place is infested. The mice are eating stored meds and baking soda in my smaller unit and damaging my property in the larger unit. Droppings are everywhere and the smell of vermin excretion is all through the units on the first level. Many people who have units on both floors are moving out to include myself. Save yourself the headache!

The store manager, Emad, is above and beyond! He took all the time to take me through all the steps about everything i should know about the unit and how to access it. And the facility is clean and nice!

I appreciate Emmad service he was real kind and helpful and I wouldn't recommend anybody else but him to get good service

Drove to this facility from CA and was met by Jennifer, the manager. She’s awesome. No I mean Awe-Sum. This young lady was so accommodating and courteous. She actually had my rental experience in mind. It was a great experience. Thanks Jennifer! -RP

Jennifer is the star of this review. The facility is new and beautiful, but well hidden (GPS isn’t always correct). Once there, Jennifer took time to show me around, explain everything, made my entry code easy to remember and was the most pleasant storage associate I have ever met! She is proud of her building, and such a joy to work with.

Jennifer (the manager) did a superb job of completing the rental I had started online. She provided exceptional customer service from beginning to end. She was friendly, helpful, and highly knowledgeable. She under-promised and over-delivered. This is the third time I have rented a space at this location, and although it is not the closest location to me, as long I need storage and as long as she is working there, this is where I'll go!

Jennifer is so amazing, helpful and most importantly the sweetest. She even helped me move some of my stuff. We definitely need more people like her in the world , she truly went out of her way to help us and I greatly appreciate it!

Best Rep every, definitely deserving of a promotion!!!

The facility is generally great for a storage facility, but when there are issues they just don't have a plan or staff to do something. A few months ago, the elevators were disabled for an extended period, apparently due to improper or deferred maintenance. One time, I had to go upstairs and take the elevator down to use it because it couldn't be called to the first floor for some reason. Electronic building locks regularly fail. I can never get the electronic lock on the elevators to let me in through the app like it's supposed to. I have to manually enter the code. But, get this, the app has stopped displaying my code... so I had to find it and write it down. Twice I've seen the big drive-in doors broken or damaged--once it lasted months before being fixed. Employees are often unresponsive or not present. I once spent 30+ minutes trying to get the attention of the employee at the desk from outside locked interior and exterior doors. It was the middle of the day. And that gets me to today. See the attached photo. Two trucks blocking the drive-in. The larger truck is using all of the hand carts available and has stuff stacked around the elevators making them inaccessible to anyone else. Totally unacceptable. Where is the employee to intervene here? Again, not the first time this has happened. I've been blocked in before, waiting an hour or more to get out. Right now, I've been waiting almost an hour and typing this dumb review on my phone. Easy solutions here: have an employee present at all hours that use of the facility is allowed; enforce a queue for the drive-in so that people don't get blocked in; put out more hand carts - I could easily handle my current load from outside if carts were available; and require trucks over a certain size to coordinate a time in advance, park outside the drive-in, or use only their own hand carts. I hope you consider at least one of these. Also, please continue to maintain the elevators. Really shameful to have them shut down... Otherwise, yeah, it's a storage facility, not expensive, reasonably safe, and in a convenient location.

I cannot wait to be done with Public storage. They jack up the prices by nearly $50 every 6 months and I wish I knew what it was going towards because half the time the elevators are out of service and the main gate into the building doesn't work. This is my second public storage location and I experienced similar situations with the other location. Tag this under worst business and management!

In a world where there are so many things to worry about during the course of a day, week, month I am pleased to say I don’t have to worry about my belongings and upkeep with this location. The cost is affordable, but this place needs better maintenence. Something is always broken. The rolling garage door for example has been broken for over a month. I understand the holidays can be challenging, but one month is too long. Now they just leave the door open so anyone can enter. One of the two elevators is broken everytime I visit. Once, both elevators was broken so I was forced to carry heavy boxes up several flights of stairs. Anothet time I had an issue and wanted to speak with staff on duty. He made me wait in the rain as he was talking on the phone. He even raised a finger as if to say keep waiting. Why are the doors to the lobby locked when you are clearly there, and the facility is open for anyone to enter? Finally, the place needs to be cleaned more often.

This facility is amazingly clean, well maintained & managed. Would give 5* to facility but - PS online & as a whole is not. I wish the prices were better, my belongings would still be there. Great move in deals but less than 4 months later email to raise price which increased monthly due by $50. Too steep!! Maybe a 6 month review with clients so they can assess options. It's a lot of $$$ for initial start at each place. I had to rent a u-haul and move it all before the end of month & literally the day I moved it - paying for new lock (special to each facility), one time processing fees, u-haul, etc. ($200) to start a new $46mo. unit) I get a new message stating a hold on all increases at Public. Really upset me and all the expense & physical labor involved.

So this was my first time using public storage as I've used extraspace more often but if I need to store anything else I'll be using public storage (specifically this one again if I can). Jennifer was kind and professional helping me with things as I'm military so my situation was very fluid, nonetheless she helped as much as she could! Definitely would and will be recommending to any of my buddies who need a unit.

We had a technical hiccup with the system there, and although it was out of her control and couldn't fix right away, she was able to find a different solution that worked for us. I've been managing and leading teams for almost 30 years, and you rarely get the combination of professionalism, resourcefulness, and common sense she has. I signed up for the promotion where your first month is a $1. I cleared out my unit 4 days before the end of the month, scheduled my close out using the app, called and left 2 voicemails, and spoke to an employee about my move out. Public storage said that I did not move out and owed them 2 months of rent which was sent to collections. I would not recommend anyone use this service. The building was difficult to access, a bug with the app made it difficult to access the elevator, and it took several attempts just to call the elevator down. None of the moving carts are available after 5pm. The bathrooms are locked after 5pm. There were no water fountains, you would have to get water bottles from the front office until they ran out or closed at 5pm. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a storage unit

I had to find a storage space at the last minute and I happened to see this one which had just opened at the time and had really great deals on storage space. From booking a storage unit to move out I worked with Jennifer and honestly I'm so grateful. She was and has been so helpful accommodating throughout my rental period and was always the one to answer calls or call me back or respond to any emails or concerns I had. The space is new so it's so clean, the codes for entry into the space and each level makes it very safe and secure and my stuff was safe and same condition I left it one year later. I'm so so grateful to Jennifer, Whitney and Ishara who helped me during my move out. Should I ever need another storage space I will definitely be coming back here!

If you don’t already rent here, I would advise you to look elsewhere. This place was amazing when we first started renting in a year ago, but it’s gotten worse and worse over the past few months: it’s over-crowded (the loading/unloading space is frequently so full that you get parked in by other renters), there are no carts for customers (there were 4 or 5 a year ago, now there’s apparently 1?), and the formerly friendly service is gone. As an example why: We went to Public Storage in twice just today. The first time it was too full to get in, so we came back. The second time, there was only one other vehicle- professional movers who were using their own carts and confirmed they were not using any others… but there were somehow now zero (0) carts available rather than the 1 cart from earlier in the day. We checked with Jennifer (property manager) and the other person on staff in the office, and we were told they didn’t know where the carts were, but we were “free to go floor to floor to look for them.” Rude? But we did. We walked through all 4 floors and found no carts and no one using carts. They’re all just gone. We want back in to the office and were told that it must be people stealing them- there’s nothing they can do. So instead of an easy few trips, we took a bunch of heavy, bulky, and/or fragile items by hand. It took a full hour longer than expected- two hours if you include the attempt earlier in the day. Conversations with the folks during the morning trip make me believe that experiences like this are becoming more and more common. Unless you have your own heavy-duty trolly to bring along with you, maybe think about renting at a different company or location. I’m so disappointed, as a year ago, I would have rated this place at 5 stars.

The cleanliness of this place is top notch and the price is very good as well. But…. the true star of this facility is Jennifer (the property manager). She is the absolute best! She’s very personable and will work with you to make sure your experience is above and beyond your expectations. I had an odd move-out situation during the holidays which Jennifer was able to handle with such care and put my mind at total ease during an already intense and stressful time. 10/10 recommend this facility.

I came to move in to my storage unit. When I got there I realized I needed a bigger space. I was there at 1, there was no one in the leasing office. I called and left a voicemail, no one has called back. I called the next day and nothing. I have not used my unit and I want to get a refund, the customer service is horrible.

Not recommend for long term storage they don't have enough cart and u have to wait one of employees to give u one just 1 !!!! Elevator there slow and sucks there is reason why its cheap to rent with them definitely this is the last time i will rent a storage there!

Storing our things here for nearly a year has been very easy and affordable. This modern facility makes accessing your storage space quite convenient. Jennifer was extremely helpful and friendly from day one. I definitely recommend thia place.

What makes this location the best...the management staff! Jennifer is the absolute best! When it's extremely warm out you will find Jennifer offering cold water to customers moving in/out. She's always available to assist and offer recommendations. It's small acts such as this, combined with the clean, secure facility, why I'm glad I chose this location. This is a newer facility with the drive through bays which I love because I'm able to load/unload regardless of the weather. I never had a problem with getting a push cart...the requirement changed where you had to sign them out from the office. I'm told that's because they started mysteriously disappearing lol. I didn't mind having to sign them out, at least there were some available.

Rented a 5x5 over the holiday weekend. Rented online so a barrel lock was left in my unit - contactless. A code was texted to me in the morning. The building is new and clean. There is only one person on sight in the office. You have to give them your id to borrow a trolley which is really annoying and the biggest con of this place. Other storage facilities leave this right outside the elevator. So if you don't come between 9 to 5 and not at lunch time you will have to bring your own dolly or carry your items to your vehicle. The price is low right now because they are trying to fill up. I expect it to rise so get the smallest unit that you can. I don't think the security is great. Your code is good for the entire building. It should be partioned by floor and wing. I wouldn't use this facility if I was a business.

The staff is FABULOUS, I so appreciate their help. I LOVE that there are restrooms. Much better security than most spaces. Only negative is that there is no wifi and I can't use my phone from my space. Since I'm older, could be a medical issue. UPDATE: They added an antenna and I get wifi access -- thanks!

This public storage location is by far the best one I've used; it's clean, uses convenient tech that works, and has outstanding customer service (thanks, Maria!). I just leased my unit for a year, don't hesitate to do the same.

Well first and foremost it was the smile and great attitude and customer sevice that caught my attention from a specific employee at this location who made this visit super easy and smoothe this young lady was the best i believe her name was jennifer over all a great experience good job PS.

Jennifer is awesome. Every interaction I've had with her, she's been a huge help and is always polite and customer service orientated. Some of the other folks working there, are not as helpful as Jennifer. I reported a leak in the loading bay, and the person at the desk just said "we are aware of it". At least put a sign out there so tenants know it could be slippery at a specific spot. No movement. Jennifer on the other hand, is always out tidying up the facility and around it. Public Storage...give her a raise or promote!!

It’s been the best experience in my life. customer service is the best. As soon as I walked in the doors I was received by Jennifer with a big smile and with a thank you for choosing us. I got treated with respect and the most important thing to me was the kindness. I believe now days you can’t find Customer service because everything now day is get in get out and who’s next in line. I got a tour of the facility and a tour of the different sizes unit to see what would accommodate me the best. The Public Storage on Bren Mar is the best location that I've seen (I visited at least 6 other facilities in the area, and rented from another off and on for the past several years). The facility is new and very clean, with a large indoor loading/unloading area, which allows you to easily move things in inclement weather. Jennifer has been incredibly helpful, beginning with a tour of the facility and available units, to clearly explaining pricing and helping ensure the internet rates that I reserved under were honored. The entire facility is well-lit and feels very safe and secure.

I was so skeptical about getting a storage unit because of the fact I’m a female and feel unsafe at storages since they are secluded and such but this location has been amazing! I love that I can drive into the gate and leave my car there . I love that you need a psscode for gate and elevator so not just anyone can come in. Jennifer - the staff lady there has been amazing. She always goes above and beyond for me . She is always willing to help and accommodate . She is so sweet and the communication has been great. Jennifer is such a good employee and that’s hard to find these day! Thank you so much for making reservation and move in easy!!

Location is clean

As first timers to renting a public storage unit we couldn’t be happier to have found this particular Public Storage facility! We checked out several storage companies including two other PS locations. Bren Mar is brand new - clean, convenient location, easy & flexible scheduling process with reasonable prices, and an extremely helpful and responsive staff. Property manager Jennifer is awesome to work with! Her enthusiastic personality while giving us a tour of Bren Mar, telling us about the company, and showing us an alternate unit - 10 x 5 vs 5x 10 - that is better- suited to the type of items we would be storing sold us on our decision. Jennifer was attentive as well during our actual move that was done in several trips on two different days. I’m glad to know I can just call her directly with any questions. Facility is brand new, super clean and very competitively priced. The massive indoor unloading area also came in clutch because it rained the day we were moving our stuff in. The manager, Jennifer, is also awesome! Highly recommend this place if you need to store anything in northern Virginia.
