Very accommodating and helpful
We've been here for just over a year and although it's a nice new facility, service is really fallen off recently. One of the elevators has been out of service for over 3 weeks, and staff can only tell us they have no information on when it will be fixed. Even worse: they routinely turn off power to service the solar panels or some such thing, which means you can't access your storage unit. And although they send out email notifications, they wait until 5:30 the day before. Hope you were planning to get anything out of your unit tomorrow! This has happened twice in the last month.
Horrible customer service they somehow kicked me out the system just because, I didn’t have any payments due or nothing. I call them and ask them what’s going on they apologize and say the problem is fixed. I come back the next day and the same issue happened. The guy called Mike especially was rude and unprofessional and he probably did it on purpose to if you encounter this guy please be careful.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this storage facility. Although I was willing to overlook the significant price increase within a year, the locked bathrooms with no staff available to provide access, and the perpetual lack of 4-wheel dollies, my frustration reached its peak when I discovered mice droppings throughout my unit. My fear of mice is profound, and I have never encountered such an issue at any other storage facility. The droppings were everywhere, and I found a packet of rat poison tucked into my door, leaving me uncertain whether it was a recent addition or had been there all along.
I was not notified of any potential infestation, which only compounded my distress. To make matters worse, when I tried to reach the office, it was locked. Fortunately, a front desk employee saw me and let me in. I expressed my concerns about the mice droppings, and he advised me to contact the insurance company. Despite multiple attempts, I received no response from the insurance.
I then approached the property manager, Manny, who found the situation amusing. He eventually agreed to inspect the unit. During our walk, we encountered a large dead cockroach, indicating another pest issue. Manny dismissed my concerns about the droppings, insisting it was not rats and downplaying my fear of going through my belongings. He offered no apologies, solutions, or assurance that pest control would be contacted.
I was told that the infestation was likely due to someone bringing food into the unit, which attracted the mice. Given the lack of door draft stoppers and easy access through the roof, it is no surprise that pests can enter the units. The facility's inadequate pest control measures—claiming only monthly visits from pest control instead of bi-weekly—are deeply troubling.
I am extremely upset that I was neither contacted nor apologized to about this issue. The facility's negligence has left me terrified of encountering these pests, alive or dead, during future visits. Given these circumstances, the monthly price is unjustifiable.

In this storage I have found everything I need, Melissa was the one who helped me in the process twice that I have needed a storage, she is very nice, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to talk to her.
Rates increased 50% the first year and 30% again the second year so we are now paying twice what we were just 18 months ago. There are NEVER any dollies you can use and the security system on the elevators only works half the time which is really irritating when making multiple trips (especially without a dolly). Plus, the customer service office is on the opposite side to all the loading entrances - clearly they are there to sell to new clients and not to help those of us paying their salaries and rent through our existing monthly payments. The women's restroom faucet runs non-stop and the staff knows but doesn't care - why should they when they can cover the unnecessarily high water bill by continually raising my rent. No thanks - we found another storage place that is more interested in our business...

I recently visited the public storage facility in Virginia which is not where I reside or keep my own storage. I was there strictly as a helper driving a vehicle for an acquaintance. I was not a customer here but the facility was clean and was a safe gated facility and it seems like a good place to rent a storage unit. I’m not sure about their charges. Thank you.

Unbelievable horrible experience today.....minding my own business moving out of my unit before the end of the month, and Melissa the manager, walks by my unit and says "excuse me, do you have food in your unit? I assume her accusation was based on a food box she saw in my unit. I tell her there is not food in there, its just a box. She demands that I prove it to her by opening my box. I refuse, telling her its my property and she has no right to demand to see the contents of my items. She tells me it is policy that food cannot be stored. I totally agree that people should not store food in their units, as it will attract mice and pest, but I do not have any food in my unit. I told her I would not open the box, but showed her the writing on the outside that states the contents, all my boxes are labeled with a sharpie pen listing its contents. I asked her she can smell the box if she doesnt believe me. Things got heated and nasty as he was yelling in my face demanding to see what was inside despite me stating over and over that I had no food and what was her proof for demanding that I open my boxes to show her. She also brought up that she would evict me if I did not open my boxes. At this point, even though I didnt have any food and could have opened for her to see, but I decided not to because in her capacity as a manager she was acting like a thug and not professionally, it was basically "Do as I say or else". Her tone was also loud, as we both were shouting at this point. As I walked away pushing my cart, and she in the opposite direction, she continued to yell and say things as she walked down the hallway. Hopefully, its all on camera and upper management will be able to watch. I loaded my van, and went to the front office. Doors locked, empty desk, so I sat in my car, trying to reach corporate, eventually she showed up along with a co worker, I got out of my car and went to the door, where she left but an employee (Yami) stayed to opened the door. I explained the situation to him, and at first he was apologetic and said perhaps she took it too far, and I asked for her to come out and apologize to me directly, he said it wasnt going to happen. I asked for the policy, and he printed out something and handed it to me. I asked where does it say about "food", he said line item #8. #8 states that they can inspect your unit within 3 days of written notice, if they suspect criminal activity, there is nothing no where that states about storing food....again, I am not storing food only collectibles. I pointed out that what he gave me does not state what they are all saying is policy. Frustrated with me, he asked me to leave, even though it was only 4pm and they close at 5pm. I stated I wanted to stay inside until I could get this situation resolved. Then another male employee chimed in and also asked me to leave, and stated that I was a grown man and to handle it myself. At one point, this person says "do you want to take it outside", and I asked to do what? and He said "to do whatever you want"....I was shocked this is a national franchise and a professional business and they have people like this guy working here??, along with the manager Melissa over stepping her authority and lording over people and then have the nerve to kick people out of their store for no reason. Not one employee acted impartially, instead they all just ganged up and supported one another. They kicked me out because they said they have stuff they need to do. I left and called corporate to file a complaint against Melissa, turns out she did so too, but falsified the situation by adding things that didnt happen, like stating I had candy in my unit, and that I told her to smell the box like she was a dog....and stating she felt threatened by me, even though she was 6 inches from my face yelling loudly and saying she was the manager (video), complete lies to protect her job. Melissa is a Liar. I came back later to find a lock on my unit. I dont have time for this madness. Upper management please fix this location, its chaos here at 880 S Pickett St.

She was incredibly nice and went out of her way to ensure that I understood everything and felt supported. Her effort and helpfulness made a potentially stressful situation much easier to navigate. I should of known it was trash since day one.
Not only do they lie about measurements and also the payments. They increased my monthly rate without notice. They have my wrong address and couldn’t even send me an email about it. Try calling for them just to tell me “ you signed the contract” your fault.
Honestly this is the worst mistake I have done. I would rent elsewhere. Not to mentioned you have to pay for insurances too. Trash costumer service

These people broke my lock 🔐 and I can not be sure all my stuff is in there. So outraged about these actions.
I called & called the office, no response. I then wheelchaired (by transport) over there but no one at front desk. I wanted to
make my cash payment to avoid late fee. I waited an hour but no one came. I knocked on door but no one answered. I video my time there to document my arrival & departure. I left at 3:30pm. It must have been Melissa 's day off. Y'all need Renee back. I Miss Renee, I had NO problems when she worked there. Not One. I am seriously considering moving elsewhere. And now I need to make sure I come there when Melissa is working.

This public storage is in great condition. I was told it opened a few years ago. Very clean! The staff are very professional and welcoming. I was very pleased to work with Renee and Naz when I was looking for a storage unit. I was having a hard time with the online booking and Renee and Naz were very patient and helpful until they found a storage unit for me. Most other storage unit I have been too, the staff would be dismissive or inpatient but Naz and Renee were the opposite. I was very impressed and extremely satisfied. Hope this public storage location keeps up the outstanding professionalism the employees show.
A wonderful experience. 1st the facility was very clean and well maintained. And the representatives Renee & Yami were both very kind, knowledgeable and professional. All of my questions and concerns were answered and addressed. I do recommend this particular location for storage rentals.
Renee continues to be extremely helpful to me each time I need help with my storage space. On several occasion she has given me valuable information that made it easy for me to choose what type of storage I needed at that particula time. She usually informed me about current sales promotions, and availability of those unit as well. She is priceless .

Was looking at different public storages in my area. Chose this location because of its proximity in price. Then I was bombarded by no less than seven emails and a phone call from the manager. I told them that I would be stopping in before the office closed to take a look. Then he told me that the office closes at 4:30 & 5. I said “no all of your hours on your literature say 6 PM. “All of the public storage locations are at 6 PM. Then one of my two reservations was canceled so I called and spoke with a woman who really sounded like she doesn’t care if she had my business or not. She sounded pretty apathetic. I said well “your hours are open till six, I may not make it before five and she said well we close at five” so we can do our closing paperwork until six. So basically they want to get out of there early and not stick around to help people. That’s really good to know, if this is my first interaction and I’m not even a paying customer yet I will 100% take my business elsewhere. Very good to know. !!!

The facility is about two years old - all elevators, AC, and electronics work well. Great location near 95 and 495. The staff were super helpful - we lost our key while out of the state and the manager worked with us to help our specific situation. Would definitely use this facility and recommend to anyone!

Update review. I ended my lease with Public Storage and the move out process was just as easy at the move in process. I called to double check the protocol and everyone has been very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this storage unit if you are in the area.
Nice, clean place. Easy to find. Clean units and halls. Reserving online was easy. Registering and applying in person was a breeze. Branden was great.
Please note you need to have storage insurance which they provide for $15/month and a cylinder lock (I bought theirs it was $21). There’s auto pay options and you can pay ahead (up to one year) at a time if you want.
There’s no contract it’s month to month and you can cancel anytime.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Facility is clean and well kept. I would definitely recommend this storage unit to friends and family.

My best advice is to avoid this storage place. It is a "new" facility but flooded twice in just a few months (July 2022 and October 2022) and the floods were not from natural disasters or storms but rather something with the fire suppression systems. During the July flood, we were contacted and told we had to visit the facility immediately to assess our storage unit or authorize Public Storage personnel to go through the unit without us present. We opted for neither option because we lived out of state and Public Storage refused to cover the travel costs. Whatever water damage occurred was not made worse by the delay in arriving, but we did end up losing over $8K worth of property.
Additionally, do NOT purchase the $15 per month insurance from Public Storage. The insurance is garbage and the third-party administrator (TPA) is Sedgwick, which has an awful reputation (search it online), is slow to complete the claim, and is just an overall pain to deal with. I would respond to their inquiries on the same day and would not hear back from them for 7-10 days and usually only after I pinged them a second, third or fourth time for a response. Sedgwick also attempted to double depreciate my property by using "replacement value" minus depreciation but their replacement value was the cost of replacing the item with a used item which already considers depreciation, so depreciation should not be calculated twice.
You would be far better off to use your renter's or homeowner's insurance and have the storage unit covered (in most renter's and homeowner's policies, a storage unit is already covered). In the event of another flood, theft, or some other loss, you are much more likely to see your valuables replaced.
BL: This facility is not recommended due to flooding issues. Staff was courteous in all interactions except when the flooding occurred, where they treated us like we caused the flooding.

Do not use. This place does not allow you to secure your goods with high-quality locks. They also severely limit access to your space. Avoid at all costs.

The storage unit is awesome . However public storage will harass you about payment. They have too many reminders and the managers that call you are rude. I have a late fee of $24.00. Today Camara McGee sent a txt for me to reach out to public storage. While speaking with her I asked if they not call so much and she stated they would continue to call and maybe I should not keep paying my bills late. And then Camara hung up the phone before I could respond. I have tried to call back for 30 minutes and Camara keeps sending me to voicemail. What she said was very rude. I am a new mom with a 9 month old. If I choose to pay all of my other bills that are more important and I get a late fee that is my business. But don’t tell me how I should pay my bills and then hang up. This is the 2nd time I had to call the corporate office Tomas a report about being hung up on. Public storage has a customer service script. At the end of each call you are to say thank you for calling public storage. I have been with you all since 2020. I will take my business elsewhere.

Units are clean but the loading area is designed poorly. Spots are barely long enough for a F150, Anything larger either protrudes into the roadway or is forced to take up multiple spots.

This is the worst place I have ever use I do not and I repeat I do not recommend this place at all...

I had great experience when I stopped by to get a storage unit. Mr. Antoyne helped me at the front office. He is an outstanding employee, he was fast and efficient and a kind gentleman. I was in and out in no time. The facility is huge and clean, I recommend this facility.
I stopped by and rented a storage unit last week, Antoyne, the manager was fast and efficient. He made my move very easy because he explained everything step by step. The facility is clean and Public storage is blessed to have an employee like Antoyne. I recommend this facility.

Rented a locker unit without knowing that it was above the larger units. I was completely bummed, until Antoyne offered his services. He helped me with my belongings. I had a toddler with me, and didn’t want her to run off in the building while I attempted to go up the ladder. So thankkkkk you again so much!
Very pleased with this storage. It looked really nice and very clean. I never had trouble with my stuff and never saw mice droppings or anything (one of the things that I’m always aware of). Easy to access my unit. Everything was organized. I reserved online and was incredibly easy and also the auto pay reminders. I didn’t have to call to cancel my unit since they noticed my stuff was no longer there. Thank you for the exceptional service. I am definitely using this company for future reservations.

Rayquel and Antoyne were the associates on duty the day I moved into my storage unit and I’m so thankful that they were. I truly haven’t had such a seamless check-in/checkout process since shopping on Amazon. The facility is spotless, bright, and seems very safe, and the prices are far lower than any other storage facility in the area. Rayquel and Antoyne made sure all of my questions were answered and when the look on my face was even slightly puzzled, one of them seemed to be right there to help me out. For example, the lock on my unit was a little testy, and when Antoyne overheard me mentioning it to Rayquel, he instantly picked up his tools and met me at my unit to fix it right away. Rayquel then followed up to make sure I was all settled in ok. Now that’s customer service!! I felt like I received 100% personalized attention. Will definitely recommend this Public Storage location to others.

Very clean, easy to access. Antony and Raquel were both very kind, and nice. They were helpful, patient, and I highly recommend doing business with Antony, he's amazing. Me and my husband were both very impressed. So impressed my husband is moving his storage stuff to their location, because of their kindness.

Registered/reserved online for a 4' x 5,' for $15 a month, which turned into $31 a month because they require insurance. I wondered about the unit's height since I couldn't find the total dimensions online. You guessed it, the unit was tiny 4' x 5' x 4." And it was located high above other, bigger units and needed to be accessed with a giant movable staircase (like you see at Home Depot). I looked at it and immediately went to the office to ask about a bigger unit. Of course the price for the next size up was more than double and that was without the extra required insurance coverage. I asked to cancel my online reservation and they said they could only refund the cost of their lock. The other $30 plus was not eligible for refund. I gave this faculty one star because I don't like their business practices online. These 4' x 5' units for $15/month are clearly meant to "get you in door"...then they spring the required insurance...then you see exactly how small the unit is...then note how you have to access it with a giant movable staircase and you're left either upgrading to a larger more expensive unit or no refund.
My advice, go further away from DC. With a little extra drive, you'll end up with a bigger, cheaper unit.
Awarding 5 Stars for this clean and convenient storage facility. Recently experienced a situation with an employee that greatly concerned me. I will seek to address that with higher level ownership or corporate office.

I dealt with a professional gentleman by the name of Antyone (not sure if I spelled it correctly) he was very knowledgeable and polite and attentive to my needs as a tenant! I will recommend doing business at any location he maybe at! He is a great guy he made my experience better even u see tough circumstances! He get a 10 out of 10 in my book!!
