Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 2811 NW Market St, Seattle, WA

Moved out of town due to a new job, with the hopes of returning. Unit was broken into twice in one year. Facility was unwilling to assist with any information or records regarding the break in, leaving me on the other side of the country with no means to understand what happened or had been taken--which ended up being half of my stuff. Needless to say, I was done with them when the second break-in occurred and they still didn't provide me any useful information. Also, they continued to raise the rent multiple times per year. So please save your money and take your business elsewhere.

It's ok. Nothing special about it. Latches on small units are flimsy. Rate increases come like clockwork. The good news is the location is very convenient so I give them 3 stars.

Great storage space & great staff.

I cannot recommend this place any less. Not only has the management allowed two of the three access points to the facility to BREAK and GO UNREPAIRED for months (going on 3+ months now), but today the third and final door has broken and the facility is shuttered, leaving all of the stored contents of hundreds of people inaccessible! Each tenant pays hundreds of dollars per month to store their property on-site, with the understanding that they have access to it during reasonable hours. Now, due to their continued negligence, the management of SSS is no longer able to hold up their end of the agreement. This is unacceptable - if you want to pay someone to house your stuff and sometimes let you see it, then maybe consider Simply Self Storage. Otherwise, steer clear! Update: 10/29/2022 After 3 1/2 months, all three access points are repaired and working. I take back everything I have said - this place is ready for your business! (P.S. They just raised the rents! <3)

We are very happy with our recent storage unit move to Simply Self Storage! I believe I spoke with Coleen to lock in my rate, she was super friendly and helpful! I finished the reservation online (simple), then we met Jodie at the office to see our unit and get our lock. Jodie was so nice and very eager to help us with whatever we needed. Break ins common. Do not store anything of value here.

I’ve occupied a small unit here for the past 14 months. I just suffered my third break in. If you want a dry place to store some non valuable junk, this may work. If you need a secure place to store your things, this is not the place. I got a laugh at the “owner’s” response on a previous review. They are going “to look into it”. They know exactly what is going on and don’t want to spend the money to secure the facility. Plain and simple.

EDIT: More than a month later and the broken door issue STILL has not been addressed. Now two doors are broken and today when I showed up the third was also broken, meaning I couldn’t access any of my stuff. I’m beyond angry at this point. Their business response to this review gave no “customer service department” contact info. Going to report them to the BBB. TL; DR: Don’t store your stuff here. Move out if you do store your stuff here. Simply Self Storage in Ballard bills itself as a convenient, affordable, safe option for your urban storage needs in Seattle. They offer larger storage units at a premium, promising access to a loading bay area through a large door that can accommodate moving vehicles. You would think that when this loading bay door stopped working due to a supposed electrical issue, Simply Self Storage would have quickly used some of the thousands upon thousands of dollars its customers spend every month to fix the issue, especially since the customers with storage units closest to this loading bay door typically pay the highest prices. After more than a month of inaction, the door remains just as broken and inaccessible as it was on day one. This means over half of the facility (which is more than a city block long), remains inaccessible through this broken door. The issue goes beyond simple inconvenience; after more than a month of inaction, it has now become gross negligence on their part. We've tried complaining to the customer service agent on duty, but it's apparent that person has no power or ability to fix the issue, and their response to "just use another door" doesn't solve the problem. Imagine walking an extra city block carrying all of your living room furniture down small corridors, and being charged several hundreds of dollars a month for the privilege, all for want of a working door. I leave this review because the issue has gone unaddressed after more than a month of complaints. We're still paying the same premiums for our storage unit, without getting what we're paying for. Simply Self Storage: fix the loading bay door now. You owe it to your customers to address this issue, and to refund a portion of your customers' money to compensate for the loss of time and services.

Decently priced, easy access, and pretty convenient but be prepared to have your thongs stolen. I had my storage unit broken into on three separate occasions and the company seemed pretty unsympathetic about it. 0/10 would not recommend.

Found Simply-Storage in the morning and moved my belongings in later that same day. Quick and easy!

Definitely not happy with Security. My unit is the Only one without a camera. The recent break in cost me alot more than the MANDATORY insurance coveres.

These people auctioned off my friends unit that I shared with last month. My friend has been in London since 2020 and she has received zero notice. Simply Storage was very unhelpful & very unprofessional. They are a horrible company.

Not so good experience even before I started using their services. I got a quote online and dialed in store manager for some questions. Their responses were dry as if they didn’t like questions. I could not see urge to grow business. The online rates were shown lower than actual rates. I am choosing another storage company even though they are a little more expensive. At least some customer satisfaction is assured from them.

This place has been great for us. It's very convenient. It's very easy to get our things. Well that is when the doors work.

Definitely DO NOT STORE THINGS HERE. My storage unit (and several others) were broken into and robbed and they weren’t even apologetic, refused to give any refund or compensation, and were even giving us a hard time about sending us a picture of the damage while we were out of town.

Our rent was raised significantly after a few months of moving in, then recently we had our unit broken into, the security is a complete joke. The facility seems secure at first glance but once you have access inside (for instance just walking to the bathroom from Portage bay Café) all a potential thief has to do is climb up (also made easy by the thin wire mesh on top of each unit) and peel up any one of the tops of the units with a small prybar or any tool really. Then all they have to do is walk out with your goods, hop in a car and drive away. Yes there are cameras but outside of a few main lanes coverage isn't great. Even if they did get a thief on camera apparently there is nothing they can do aside from filing a police report and even that might be a stretch. After our break in we moved out of the facility. Simply Self Storage is better than leaving your all your belongings locked in a car on Market Street but not by much.

Very easy move in. Really love the fact you can drive into the facility. Edit: Just moved out. The easy to enter car "entrance" has been broken for 3+ months and I have no faith in their management to ever fix it. Still a nice clean facility if you don't mind the pain of entering through the poorly situated car exit.

I was happy with everything about this place until two months into the rental they hiked my rates by $80 without much explanation. When I attempted to contact the management I was brushed off and directed to the website where I never received a response to my inquiry about the rate hike. Just another national chain that lures you in, then gives you the 'F you pay me or we'll kick you out' treatment. Can't wait to be done with them now.

One of the best clean place around ballard. Their customer service is exceptional. If you decide to get a storage go see Landon and the staff. They will answer all your questions. Check out this place before you decide.

Cool place to keep your staff

As the business manager of a local club, we needed space while our facility was being remodeled. Every experience was quite positive with Simply Storage, the site felt quite secure and generous hours for access, good parking options for accessing the unit, and very responsive staff - when needed. I'd definitely use them again in the future.

Storage broken into on a daily basis.

THIS FACILITY IS NOT SAFE OR SECURE. Our unit was recently broken into and property was stolen: not once, but twice within a single week. We have been extremely disappointed with the security at this facility. Perhaps what has been most upsetting has been the company’s response (or lack there of). When they initially informed us the unit had been tampered with, we were told there was no one available to fix the door until the following day. It was very concerning that they did not have staff available to address these issues promptly. This meant the unit sat unsecured for at least another 24 hours. After the door was "fixed" then our unit was then broken into a SECOND time. This time we were told there was no manager available to assist with our concerns. They said there have been increased robberies at storage units and they have done nothing to respond. We will no longer be using the facility. I barely even feel safe to enter the property let alone keep items there. They may say they value your “business", but they certainly do not value their customers.

Can you rent month to month or is there a contract?

Storage is fine, works well, excellent customer service when we rented the unit. PLEASE find a better system for managing the carts though. Currently there are 4 (maybe) carts for the entire huge building, and frequently none of them can be found. If I have to walk the entire perimeter of this building every time I arrive just to haul a few things from my car, I'm gonna move my stuff elsewhere at the first opportunity.

The price was reasonable and one month free to start. 6months later almost a 20% increase in the monthly price. I moved to another storage place.

The storage company I had been using for over a decade went out of business as the owner is retiring. He suggested I try Simply Self Storage just a few blocks away. I called and arranged a tentative appointment. During my visit the staff made me feel like I was part of their family as they were answering my questions and giving me a tour of the facility where my storage unit was located. The facility was very clean and well lit. Even the bathrooms were spotless. I even watch a maintenance guy patch a small hole in the wall at the loading dock. I didn’t think it was necessary, but it just shows that these people are serious about keeping the place looking nice even though it's an older building. They told me that this building was used to manufacture windows and who knows before that. I was happy that the paperwork was painless and I don’t think I spent more than 30 minutes there. A few days later, I hired Eco Movers to move my stuff from my old storage to the new one so I didn't have to kill my back and knees. The whole moving process went smoothly. I think I'm really going to like this storage company.

I went in to see what the prices were for a storage unit. I was greeted by Laketa. She was so helpful and answered all of my questions. I will definitely be recommending them to friends and family.

Laketa, really stood out when she assisted me in finding the perfect size unit for my furniture as she gave exceptional service and outstanding professionalism. Glad I choose simply, Laketa guaranteed a secure and safe storage and that’s what I got!

I was very happy with Art for taking his time showing me a unit and answering all my questions. I appreciate his southern drawl, friendliness and hospitality. They just need some sweet tea and cornbread. The price and discounts are worth the value. I hope the company keeps this up. Also the place is clean!

So that’s definelty really convenient and made my move so much less stressful. Their security is awesome never had any issues. Retail space and Work loft space. 2825 NW Market Street Racist, intrusive, dis honest, dirty, the bathrooms smell like a sewer, the corporate office impossible to contact so at the mercy a bitter front desk staff. Loosing clients weekly due to no respect for tenants, rent increases but no parking for clients of tenants 100k insurance plus cleaning deposit but work lofts are rented as is noyou must clean but they want to keep your depisit ? No handicap accessibility or no way to move equipment except to risk injury. Non window work lofts are hazzardous to pro long exposure due to unfinished ceilings. Rent can increase anytime with no limits I have a friend who was renting the only person of color and they would enter his office space and stole equipment from outside his door. This place is a disater and move your retail or office at your own risk. If you require any connections phone internet it has to be when the staff feels like it. Such a shame..

Very clean facility and friendly staff. Danni was super helpful and very knowledgeable. This was my first time needing a storage unit and had no idea what size I needed. Danni asked what I was storing and man was she good. Everything fit perfectly, no wasted space that I'm needlessly paying for.
