About Woodbury

Woodbury is a midsize city in Minnesota, and one of St. Paul's largest suburbs. It's one of Minnesota's fastest-growing cities, with a population that tripled between 1990 and 2010 alone. Nearly half of Woodbury's population is made up of families, who are attracted to the area by its well-rated schools, extensive parks system and family-friendly community events.

Living in Woodbury

As a resident of Woodbury, you'll enjoy a wide range of recreational activities. With over 3,000 acres of parks and recreation areas close by, you can fish and boat in the summer — and ski, snowshoe and ice skate in the winter. About 100 miles of trails connect most of Woodbury's parks, providing an ideal paved route for walking, jogging and biking. Bielenberg Sports Center is one of the city's popular recreational facilities, featuring several sports fields and courts as well as an ice arena.

The city has consistently focused on carefully planned growth, and this long-term growth approach has turned the blossoming city into a full-service community with recreational sports, entertainment venues and many other services. The suburban area also has a low crime rate, making it a safe place to raise a family or live alone.

With the Twin Cities right next door, you'll be able to choose from a number of options when it comes to finding a job. Finance, marketing, chemical engineering and startup opportunities in growing sectors such as technology and advertising are among the most plentiful jobs available in and around Woodbury. The nearby city of Maplewood houses the 3M headquarters, which provides jobs for many Woodbury locals.

A major portion of the Woodbury economy is retail-based. Two of the city's major retail developments are Tamarack Village and Woodbury Lakes. If you're looking for a retail job, consider applying at one of the many stores at these two shopping centers. Other large employers in the city include South Washington County Schools, Fairview/Health East, Summit Orthopedics and Walmart.

Woodbury Schools

Most of the city's schools fall under the South Washington County Schools district 833. In addition to traditional elementary, middle and high schools, Woodbury is also home to the Minnesota Math and Science Academy, as well as a few faith-based schools.

A local campus of Rasmussen College offers two- and four-year degree programs in several career-focused programs including nursing, business and early education.
