Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 13675 N US Highway 183, Austin, TX

I just spoke to a guy over the phone and he was the rudest person I have ever spoken to. I only called to ask why my bill is doubled but he almost yelled at me telling me that sometimes they can just decide to raise the rent at you. He never asked for my name of unit number and hang up on me !! I was in Shock…I called back and Lady named Trina was nice and professional and explained things more it didn’t even take her 3 mins to be nice but whoever I spoke with today 7/18 at 1:41 pm I think you have the wrong Job.

I am extremely satisfied with this property. I received a very clean storage unit and their continued use of covid procedures to lease a unit as "e-rental" really made my day. I did have some issues, of my own confusion, that I met with Lori, the property manager. Let me tell you. She was one big smile and very helpful. She walked me through my confusion. If you really want a great place to store your belongings, choose this location. Lori is phenom. Thank you Lori!

Visited my unit for the first time, and when I locked up using the $20 provided lock, the key got stuck and wouldn't turn or come out. The key broke off in the lock making it inaccessible. Visited the office the next day, but did not get a resolution. The staff were apologetic, but unhelpful. They said it takes up to 30 days for someone to come out to remove the lock, or I could hire a locksmith for $100. When filling out the paperwork to request lock removal, they would not accept the request without an additional $20 charge for another one of their locks. I initially got the unit to help me move out by week's end, but I can't get access for another 3-4 weeks from now. Worst rental storage unit experience I've ever had.

The people managing this location makes it great esp., I appreciate Trena’s help when I was having few issues with my access and billing. She immediately resolved those for me and was very kind. I used several storage places before but the whole process was very smooth. I would definitely come back whenever I need storage services.

I have had a unit at this location since 2018. They have raised my rent and lowered it (ups and downs) too many times to remember. The latest was about 5 months ago when it was raised from about $130 to $165, then two months ago was lowered to $135/month. All changes, no warning. I went to this Public Storage location today because I could save HALF of current rate just by moving out of my storage unit I had been in since 2018 and into the unit right next door!! I live in Houston right now. So I asked them why this was necessary and why the rate on my current unit just be dropped back down. I even called corporate many times. (Which may be the reason for the whole $30ish dollar rent decrease). They didn’t care. I lost my job and my car and really would not been able to make this trip if not for the kindness of my fantastic parents. (Yes, I explained all of this to Public Storage every time I called.) They cared not. Fine. It’s a business. That is how they are choosing to make more money. My unit is “climate controlled”. When I have been in that building to get some things from my unit over the years, it has always been nicely controlled, temperature and humidity wise. I opened my storage unit and started going through some of my boxes. MOLD EVERYWHERE!!!! It was hotter than I’ve ever experienced in the building. It may now be about 1 or 1.5 years since I last went into my unit. I was very upset about there being MOLD covering cherished items that my Grandparents left me when they passed and other treasures I own for my next chapter in life. Furniture, clothes had dead bugs stuck to them, purses that I owned not for price or prestige, but for memories and the support for the local Austin artists who made them, and as mentioned items passed down to me from previous generations of family members. I went to the office to speak with the manager. I told him what I had found, etc. He no help whatsoever. He told me it IS climate controlled and the air is at 85. He told me there wasn’t anything to be done when it “is 90 degrees out”. (?????😳😳😳?????) I asked him why the temperature outside matters. Even when it reaches 114 degrees a climate controlled unit is rented for the purpose of keeping items in units safe. I guess keeping the temperature 5 degrees below whatever the temp is outside is acceptable to them and they don’t care about people’s belongings getting destroyed.

The property managers here have always been so helpful over the several years i have had units at this location. My last couple of times being at my units Trena has been the manager on duty and she took the time to answer the questions I had and met me with kindness and willingness to answer all my questions. We have had several different units at this location, with good customer service and always willing to help. Trena is very helpful always.

First - I have had an indoor climate-controlled 10x8 unit here for over two years: PROS: 1) Easy access to the unit through three keypads before I reach the 2nd floor where my unit is located 2) Trena is very helpful and understanding CONS: 1) I started paying $110 monthly - now, just over two years later, my rent has gone up more than 50% to $167/month!!! 2) about one year ago, they deactivated the back exit gate - I am assuming due to the large numbers of homeless folks who encamp near and outside adjacent to the property 3) You only have access to the property between 6am and 9pm - that doesn't seem very accommodating to me - should be 24-7 access, IMHO at these rental prices 4) My unit was broken into between November 4th and December 8th - Public Storage did not notify me and when I discovered that my unit had been pilfered, I went to the front desk and the management was not very open about the incident. They told me to file a police department report. Bottom line, don't store anything of value in your unit, and don't get lulled into a false sense of security that your stuff is safe. I will be looking for a different unit soon.

*Do not* rent from this facility. My unit was broken into at some point over the last month. They are aware of break ins happening (for over a week now, the front desk staff told me!) & have done NOTHING about it. The cameras in the back building have been spray painted over (again, something they are aware of & have done nothing about) so there is no security footage to look back on. They are still renting units to people & not telling them about this. Despicable.

Great staff! Dawn was very friendly and able to show us the unit type we were interested in and answer all our questions. Was the type of customer service that creates happy, loyal customers.

The climate controlled building is great! The lights are automatic. There are three strong moving carts available for use. And there is double security on the building: you must enter your code to open the outer and inner doors.

Facility is always working when we need it and looks to be maintained well. Only knock I’ll give it is the main indoor unit almost never has any carts. Super frustrating.

Be ready for many hidden fees for EVERYTHING. 25$ for locks, 15$ obligatory insurance, $$$ registration fee and many others, if you move out at 1 of November you must pay for the whole month. According to the contract you must inform 60 day prior even if your contract is month to month.
