Had a storage here for 1 year.. Started at like 90 bucks, and it has escalated to 170 bucks since then. The hallways for the indoor ones are full of huge bumps that their 20 years trolleys have a hard time with, if you can even find one. The elevator was broken for the longest time. The app that let's you open doors remotely doesn't work, but you'll still try. The app bugs out a lot of the time, and you'll probably have to change your password with rep help, atleast 5 times. Never missed a payment. When I went to cancel the storage unit, after I cleaned it out, they're still "unable" to do anything about charging me. So I'll have to pay for another month just to cancel it. Also, there's no real people on site to talk to if you have trouble. Folks, go the extra mile and go to a local storage place. I got screwed, you don't have to.
Best price, hands down, easy in and out.
Really disappointing experience here. Rented here for a year and have since happily moved out.
Some notes for future tenants
- Elevator was down for maintenance, I'm not kidding, about 75% of the time we rented there. If you're on the second floor, be prepared. Eventually they just stopped putting a sign on the door regarding its status/estimated fix
- They advertise the app and a text line for ease of access in terms of getting through the gates/doors...not as often as the elevators but this was also frequently down/not working
- Rent increased multiple times. I rented here for a year and during that time they raised the rent FOUR TIMES. Like, I get a slight rent increase given inflation and everything but raising the rent when your elevator is down, nobody is answering the phone, and all the extra money is seemingly going in the owner's pocket is really insulting
Rats - Never got a photo, they were a little too quick, but saw rats outside on several occasions and one time actually in the building itself
I've since moved out and am now paying less for more space in a facility FAR BETTER both in upkeep and customer service.
Advice for the owner, you can't keep increasing the rent if you're not going to put in the work. Your scripted apologies and reassurance that we're all "valued customers" untrue and disheartening.
Advice for potential tenants...the price may look good but will not stay that way for long. Consider an alternative.
Does the job. Safe and clean.
I must be honest, my first experience with the Public Storage was rocky when I went to the office during business hours and could not talk to someone. However, Mike and Jason, did a fantastic job explaining the co-management of the two Shoreline locations, they were friendly, helpful, and very professional.
It was their people skills and positive attitudes that turned me into a customer.
I get it, now days everyone expects instant results, instant service, instant responses but at the end of the day we have to remember we are dealing with other humans that have responsibilities and schedules of their own. Besides, the online system can answer 95% of the questions you could have and I was able to setup everything online (kuddos for the app, so much easier)
Thank you for following up after my initial call, I look forward to interacting more with you guys in the future.
Elevator has been out of service for a long time
Good, clean, good security.
Pro: Convenient location.
Con: Poorly maintained facilities, Price hikes shortly after signing up, no attendant on duty, broken elevator FREQUENTLY, auto-pay through app is unreliable, 7 texts in 1 day for late payment due to auto pay not working even after manually paying, Sketchy neighborhood, getting out is VERY dangerous (due to parked cars blocking all view of oncoming traffic when leaving, load carts are minimum at best (clunky wheels, not repaired), no bathroom/Porto potty.
More details: I’ve been a paying customer for about 10 months, I wish I had time to move all my stuff to a different location/company. I don’t expect much from a storage unit, but this one falls VERY short. In 10 months the elevator has worked properly 1 time. The elevator certification tag was reading 2 years out of date when I moved in. I have a 2nd floor unit, and had to haul 600lbs of stuff up the stairs manually, as an elderly lady was hauling carts of stuff manually downstairs. Upon calling customer service we were told its not their fault and there were stairs we could use. (Btw, nothing is their fault) There was 1 time I was so deep in the storage unit that I lost track of time, and left at 9:20pm (9pm is their close time). At other units the code works to let you out after hours, not this one, I was firmly locked in. Had to call the customer service number through google maps and read them my drivers license and other info to verify that I was me, the next day I was called by the manager of the facility (?) and reprimanded for staying so late, then I was called by someone at their office and reprimanded for staying late. The previous visit there I used my app as normal to open the gates, and received 2 emails saying that its faster for me to use the app to open the gates (huh?). The other complaint is nothing that can be fixed but I pulled my linens and winter clothes out from the unit and they all smell strongly like the storage unit, washing everything helped even though I washed everything when putting them into the unit.
Right now I only stay because I do not have the time to relocate, but that will change this winter. I am not a fan of bad reviews but honestly there is no reason I can recommend this facility/location/company at this time.
Mike the manager is awesome! He is always trying his best to get ensure your satisfaction and with a smile nontheless.
Haley was super helpful and nice. She helped me at the kiosk and showed me my unit. I could not have done it without her.
Haley helped me rent a storage unit yesterday —she was the most helpful and competent of any of the employees I have ever dealt with at Public Storage!! We ran into several paperwork roadblocks and she instantly had a way to solve them and she put in extra effort to find the specific unit i needed. You will be lucky if she is on shift when you need help with anything. Thanks Haley!!! You’re the best!
I worked with Mike at the public storage located at 20065 15th Ave in Shoreline. He was generous with his time and went the extra mile to help me with a problem with my lock.He was thoughtful, considerate and understanding.
I want to thank him again for helping me and being such an outstanding employee.
Thanks Mike.
Marcy
Had entry issues and Haley was very kind enough to sort that out for me..
I don’t no where to start this pleas complete rip off and horrible management . The store manager have nastiest attitude very disrespectful way … first I gat rubbed … half of my staff I stored have stolen.. insurance didn’t even covers 10% of what I have lost … when I moved out I give 2 days notice and then they still want me to pay the full month that I haven’t used … run from this place …
Skylar represented the company extremely well he got me set up with my storage unit right away.Vivian on the telephone was amazing as well. I called and I was moving my stuff in within the same hour. The unit fit all my stuff. Thank you Skyler from Zac
It is clean and safe location but the virtual agent machine sucks. It made the move in process difficult
I reserved a space on line, but wanted to see it before I confimred. The office is an unstaffed vending machine. I called the number on the door, and got transferred to someone who transferred me to someone else who said someone else would come out and show me the unit. After 10 minutes, and no one showed up, I called again. The person who answered the phone said they would transfer me to someone else, but the line dropped.
I pushed the Live chat button on the Kiosk (I hadn't noticed it before). The person was half out of the picture. When I explained that i wanted to see the unit before signing the contract, she cut off the feed.
Also, I don't have a smart phone, and it looks like you need to download their app to do anything, like pay or get the key.
Elevator was busted so you had to load it on the second floor, run down to the first floor to call the elevator, and hope your things stay on the dolly on the way down unaccompanied.
As none of management put notes in my account the lady called me yesterday and fixed everything i truly appreciate that as she took the initiative to fix the mistake thank you...
Rented a unit here and had a few issues with the space. I went and talked to Mike at the Ballinger location. This guy is a rock star. He went the extra mile to take care of the issues, got me moved into a new unit and did it all with a smile. Just when you're convinced that personal customer service is dead, you get someone that actually cares and wants to help. EVERYTHING at the Public Storage places is automated and very frustrating when you just need a human to help. Kudos to Mike. Thanks again!
Rapid response to customer issues. No complaints.
OK, but unmanned. Only kiosk run. Sometimes makes it complicated.
