Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1800 124th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA

My storage unit has been broken into not once, not twice, but five times over the past year. At this point, it's almost absurd. This facility is far from safe or secure for storing anything of value. To make matters worse, they've drastically increased the rent over the past few months. It feels like there's some sort of organized crime ring that regularly targets this location. Or I’m just plain unlucky - either way use at your own risk.

If I could give this facility zero stars I would. Do not rent from here unless you want your unit broken into every single month- management and the company take zero accountability and petty theft and crime just run rampant here. You would think because it’s Bellevue safer- It’s quite contrary to that. They continue to increase the rent on an almost monthly basis yet when your storage unit is broken into, they are hands off and have no solutions to keep your personal belongings safe. I write this after being informed that my unit has been broken into for the 5th or 6th time in 6 months.

Be prepared for hefty rate increases every 3-6 months. Within 6 months my rate had increased dramatically, but I didn't know because I had set up automatic payments. Once I realized, I thought there had been a mistake and called in. I was told there was no mistake, it was a "rent increase," which is at their discretion to do at every month. When I logged into my account, I saw my rate was scheduled increase AGAIN, so I canceled my unit. I didn't even make it a year before the fees started stacking up. The staff are friendly enough, and the facility is fine, just know that the rate you sign up for is just a short-term offer. Your rate with likely double within 12-18 months.

My unit experienced a break-in resulting in the theft of most of my belongings. I was out of town and did not receive any email /updates.

I had been here for years and decided to drive up and get all my stuff out!! The best storage company I have ever dealt with. My stuff stayed secured and I definitely recommend to others! Thank you

They raise your rental fee without notice and then they tell you it was from a notification they sent for some issues. I called in and stopped by to take care of the issues and they said it was fine. Then my rental fee went from 300 to 900. They don’t communicate very well at all.

Display is very well organized, I made a mistake while reserving a space. And they were very quick to help me out and clarify everything for me. It definitely took the stress away from moving., So I definitely recommend this place. Wonderful customer service.

It is easy to get a storage space but nearly impossible to end the contract once you no longer need storage. They are impossible to reach but phone, e-mail, etc... once they have your money. Only use them if you want to pay for your storage unit forever. I have been out of my storage unit for nearly a month and did notify them. They continue to try to bill me.

Total bait and switch scam. Not sure how they haven't been sued. My rate was $53. I specifically asked at move in why I was paying a full month's rate when moving in in the middle of the month. They told me I would get a credit for a couple weeks on the next month's bill. That did not happen, my rate increase to $80 after 1 month. They made it look like my rate was 53, but in the fine print it says $80. I'm going to be handing this contract off to my lawyers at Microsoft, as I specifically spoke with the front office about the rate. They cut costs anywhere they can also. The property has a video phone booth for any customer support, if you need someone in person you have to go to another property. Calling customer service they can't cancel your contracts, even after waiting on hold for forever to get through. All they care about is getting is much money as they can, not their customers.

**UPDATE 10/2022** In retaliation for posting this review, Mgmt billed me another month's rent and immediately sent it to collections with zero notice or reason. I'm in the process of disputing it with the agency. ________________________________________ Here's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. TLDR version: - NO employee's on-site/available; ever - way overpriced, $140 a month for essentially a tool shed (5x5) - Inconvenient and strict access hours - filthy, poor lighting, outdated facility - tight hallways with little room to maneuver - NO BATHROOM - absorbent late-fee's no exception or consideration The manager/customer service agent is a single kiosk sitting in a empty lobby. Phone calls go unanswered, messages never returned, it's a poorly run facility that cares little-to-none about it tenants. A month after renting a couple of units were burglarized. I was on the property the day of the burglaries organizing my unit. Management contacted me the next day and interrogated over the phone because "being on the property for a lengthy amount of time was suspicious." After the call a manager cut the lock off door and (w/o cause) entered my unit; it was humiliating being treated like a criminal for nothing. My recommendation: Google search any other self-storage facility for better service, cheaper rent, that employs humans to manage the property.

I moved in using the kiosk originally, which was extremely unhelpful and didn't even tell me where my parking space was or where the facility's pedestrian exit was. I had to use the bathroom and couldn't find the exit because I was that desperate for a bathroom so I ended up having to literally jump the fence to get out (and I am NOT the kind of person who normally does stuff like that!!!!). Thankfully the next time I went to visit I ran into Larry who helped me get all set up, and showed me the correct space for my vehicle (I had guessed wrong earlier!). If you go, I highly, HIGHLY recommend calling ahead or something so that you can go during a time when the facility is actually staffed. Checking in using the kiosk is an absolutely terrible experience. Thank you Larry!

Public Storage has an excellent location, nice facility, and friendly staff. Easy access to storage. Larry helped process the paperwork, explained everything then showed us the unit location.
