It is not the first time that elevators do not work, now we depend on the good will of someone opening the side door to go up the stairs, because we do not have access keys to the side door, just like today I lost a job because they only open the door “from” 9:30am, terrible service

I had to move my stuff into storage while I moved out of state. I just moved out of my unit because I came back to the area and all my belongings were in great condition. Ellie, the property manager for this location, was also wonderful. She was responsive, she checked in with me during the move out process, and she really went above and beyond. I even had an issue with my movers misplacing some of my items, and she helped me track them down. I would highly recommend this location!

Stay away from Public Storage at 245 Hookston, Rd in Pleasant Hill, California. I went to rent a unit and the property manager Ellie was turning people away. The property manager told an elderly man she could not help him because she had to leave early. Then she told an African American she could not show them any units because she was leaving. When you check their website it shows they are open but the property manager was turning people away. The district managers have no idea how poorly their locations are bing run. This location in my opinion is racist towards African Americans and elderly people.

I have been renting spaces the Pleasant Hill (Hookston rd) location for a few years and your current site manager Ellie, has been your best choice yet. She was very helpful, cooperative, a problem solver, and most important… NICE! Billy L., if you’re out there, she’s a keeper.

Multiple Break ins. They do not pick up broken glass in yard when there is a break-in. I do not feel secure I will be shopping around. They need razor wire around yard.

I was in a jam with my locker unit - the bolt and Latrese and Kimberly came to my Sid. They deserve a raise!

This facility is a nightmare! Very rude and irresponsible. Zero customer service. They do not respond to you and they mislead you in giving you wrong information and then overcharge you. Do not store your stuff at this facility.

She showed us all the units we were interested in, explained how to open and close our storage, access the facility, and helped to install the app, completed all the paperwork, and explained details. Lisa Marie the manager of the pleasant hill public storage restored my faith in the company as the customer service people on the phones were terrible and all they wanted to do was Make a booking with me. They got my name wrong and the day wrong! But Thank heavens Lisa Marie the manager of Pleasant Hill actually retuned my call and made everything right again! Love her! Five star experience! Excellence in customer service

Beware!! We just found out that this facility has a MAJOR issue with break ins. After hearing this, we walked around and saw several trailers and rvs with smashed windows, doors that had been pried open, and had been vandalized or completely gutted. Apparently they had to take down the barbed wire that surrounded the property and didn’t think of adding extra security/cameras. We are now scrambling to find a new place to store our trailer after just moving it there to be closer to home. I can’t believe the victims haven’t reviewed this place yet. They are probably too busy dealing with insurance.

I always see Anne out picking up trash around the buildings and inside the units sweeping up the debris left from move outs. Do not rent a space for your RV here. They have done nothing to prevent vandalism and theft to our RV. Our RV has been broken into twice within 30 days! There is no manger that lives on site as stated in the avertisement and the customer service from public storage stinks. in the 1 year we rented here over 20 breaK ins and all they say is they are not responsible?

Great deals on storage space. Probably the best in town.

Have had a great experience with this place and with Ann in particular. My storage unit was very clean and easy to access. Ann was very calm and cordial yesterday and she provided me alternatives to my situation (of not having enough storage space).

Raised monthly rent by $500 (seriously, $500 bucks) with no notice - nearly $800 bucks for a small space. Absolutely criminal. Avoid these clowns.

They are raising monthly rates from $93 mo to $118 for a 5'X5' space, including mandatory insurance, almost a 27% increase. We are going to empty it out and save $1,416.00 a year. For that much we can buy what we need instead of searching through the unit.

Be sure you insure your stuff. Because you might lose it. It's not their fault. Don't keep the really good stuff in there.

I wanted to write a review and formally ask to have Anne, the manager at the Pleasant Hill, CA location, reviewed for terrible customer service. We had reserved a 5' x 10' space at that location this past Friday, September 16th with a move-in date of Sunday, September 18th at a rate of $81/mo. When I arrived on Sunday, I was told that the space we had reserved was already given away and that if we wanted to rent a similar space it would cost us $105/mo now. She wouldn't budge, wouldn't work with us to make an appropriate transaction happen, and was completely dismissive to the situation. We were so frustrated with her actions and lack of understanding that we walked out and didn't rent with her, or your company. Funny enough, as soon as I got home and checked my email, my "reservation had been updated" and the rate she had quoted us at the location was the new price. I have both email reservations time stamped and dated. I've rented from this location in years passed and they continually raise your rent every six months, on the day. Frustrating that it's the closest location because the customer service of Anne is nonexistent and the rent increases are awful.

Wow! The most organized public storage I have seen so far. Ann, who helps runs the property, works so hard to make sure that your needs are met and that everything is nice, clean, and tidy. I trust this storage place!

Update - was reached out to by this location's "district manager." Seemed nice and willing to help, but did nothing to "make it right" as almost all businesses would. I moved out of my unit less than 12 days after moving in due to these issues and more, and the best I could get was their standard pro-rated refund AFTER the first 30 days, despite this manager seemingly agreeing to let me just pay for the days already used and a refund for the rest. This company does not care if you have any issues, so do not waste your time if they reach out to you to try and "resolve" them. Definitely avoid. This place is very rundown, there’s glass/sharp metal objects everywhere (including where you drive up). The carts are never in the right place, so you will be walking every single thing up by hand. The elevator does a major jump on its way down, so you feel like any one of these elevator rides you’ll be calling the fire department. I rented here because of the location, but I really wish I looked around a bit further.

Stupidly expensive if you've been a customer for longer than a year, they jack up the prices very quickly on you.

Pro tip: tell them you want to cancel and they’ll lower your rent by 20%. They increased my monthly rent well over 100% over the 4 years i used them, with no justification, and after the first price hike were consistently charging me more than the advertised price (the regular price not the discounted first month). Then when I scheduled my move-out date as the 3rd of the month they insisted I pay the entire ~$290 monthly fee for those 3 days and refused to give a pro-rated refund. To add insult to injury, after I canceled my spot they sent me an offer to lower my rate by 20% if I don’t cancel. They clearly don’t value continued or long-term customers. Seems like it would be cheaper to just give pro-rated refunds and leave people with a good impression instead of incentivizing previous customers to spread the word about how to lower your monthly rent, but maybe not. The positives: they do have a locking gate at the front, but on many occasions it has been open when I arrived, so it’s not consistent, and it stays open long after you enter, so it wouldn’t really prevent people from entering behind existing customers. Other negatives, they close pretty early, so even though they could allow people to enter at night using their password-protected entry gate, they don’t. They say this is for security purposes, but again the gate is often just left open (seemingly correlated with times when contractors are bringing in many trucks at a time to park them there. Understandable, but again, they leave the gate open for hours at a time during these times, so they’re back-and-forth on really not allowing rondos in, who could easily stay after hours (they’re inconsistent on kicking people out when they close) Overall impression, wayyy overpriced, and don’t value their customers.

This is so no other customers become victims of this place. My family and I are in the process of moving so temporarily, we stored our belongings at the Public Store located at 245 Hookston Road in Pleasant Hill. We go back to the Public Storage so that my husband may retrieve tools for work, and we get to our storage and open the door, we discovered we had been robbed!!! The suspect(s) stool my husband's tools, our flat screen T.V.'s, and ransacked the place. My husband had over a $1000 worth of tools. You name it, most likely, he had it. We have called the police, file a claim with our insurance, and the young lady at the desk gave my husband a contact number for her boss named, "Bill". When trying to contact this "Bill", my husband calls were re-routed and unanswered. But, here's the ticker!! When speaking to the police, we were informed that incidents of this has happened before at this Storage location. The police even conveyed that they should get a better camera system to where you can be recorded from the inside to better target these perps, and they have cared not to follow through. My husband and I are very upset and hurt and hope telling our story, this will not fall on deaf ears. If your deciding to move and need to store your personal belongings, please DO NOT use this location. We only chose this place because it was the most cost effective and closest. The person(s) responsible, we believe is someone who is employee. The employee knows the lay out of this location, knew what spaces were vacant and occupied, and knew how to slickly tamper with the lock to get access without the customer knowing. My husband and I left messages with this "Billy" who's suppose to be the manager. But, we'll see what happens. After doing some intense research about Public Storage, it seems that being a victim of theft, has happened at other Public Storage locations. Just knowing that this has happen to other customers many times before us, and no one has bothered to resolve this, is just down right unprofessional. I better receive a response from the manager. Hiring candidates who steal from customer storage spaces and don't give a DAMN!!!! Just let it continue no matter what.
