Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1604 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA

Can I start off by saying I would give this place a 5 star only and if only Susana worked here 24/7. Every single time I have needed help, she knows what to do. I have seen her in another location doing desk work for this location and other locations. She is dedicated to helping everyone and she makes it personal. It feels like I have known her forever, she is so kind. However, let me say why I gave this place a 4 star. It has gotten 2 major break in's since I've gotten the storage place. I've seen people living in this location, and it's easy since no one works at the actual location unless something happens..then they send someone over. I go on weekends more so to get and drop off things that I use for work. I often come across Susana there, and she is always smiles. Please have Susana stay at this location, and have it open for her to work there. This place needs attention, and Susana clearly cares. I've come across other workers multiple times, and they have been short and annoyed, but not Susana. Have I said Susana enough? I think it is important to give good people shout outs. It's not easy in this world, so thank you for hiring someone with a good heart.

Only a fool would store their stuff here. Met a Public Storage manager that oversees this location. Found out it gets hit every 3-4 months by thieves and the customers aren't ever notified about it. Sounded like an inside job from existing staff. Customers only eventually find out if they come to the facility and see their unit tossed. At least 20 units get broken into, tossed and anything over a $100 in value stolen every 3-4 months. Very easy for thieves to bypass the locks and get inside each unit. The last theft lasted 2+ hours with thieves going from unit to unit taking their time and loading up their truck. Again, only a fool would store their stuff here.

I am a victim of this facility as my unit was broken into and many items stolen and filed a police report. The investigator explained that thieves break into this facility on a regular basis because there isn't any onsite security. As many as 30 units are broken into each time and the thieves can spend hours inside as there are no cameras to complete their work. It has the appearance of being secure with gate codes and cameras outside, but it is not. Thieves can come and go as they please with a gate code, which every customer gets and it's only when a customer visits the facility to find their unit vandalized do they find out about it. The thieves rent a unit online under a fake name and stolen credit card. Then they get the access codes and have full reign in the facility. I learned that the locks don't work as the doors can be easily pried off the tracks and the doors opened, which bypasses the locks. If you are considering storing here, then you should look elsewhere. Definitely not a Public Storage, but another facility that has an onsite 24/7 security guard. Otherwise you'll be a victim just like me.

Great clean location. High rental rates and the raise them every year. Easy access with their phone app. The location is safe and very secure. After this post, I received a call from management. They were very understanding to my post and offered a review of my monthly fee. I'm happy to say that my fee was adjusted to my surprise.

I have no issue with the staff, they have always been available when needed; however it's upsetting as a long term renter to be taken advantage of with an annual increase between $18 and $25 each year with the exception of last year's increase of $50.. I was able to request a price break of a few dollars for 3 mts but it doesn't help over time.. rent has doubled in 5 years which forces me to make a change I didn't want..

We have had a horrible experience. Staff is difficult to get in touch with. Unresponsive and difficult to work with once you do get a live person on the phone. Locations do not have staff on premises, making them great targets for theft, vandalism and abuse. My storage unit door was damaged, vandalized and broken into and they did not notify me for over two weeks. Merchandise was stolen and the only response we have had in 24 hours is with the site manager, who seemed to be indifferent to the damage, violation and loss. Super sad to be caught up in such apathy.

Everything’s good but dang they keep raising the rent every month started at 100 and few months later is now at 150 for a small inside unit. Good for short term storage.

The manager has been very personable and helpful. I now have a new residence, so I will be leaving you. Again, it's been a great experience. The renovation work the last month was in no way an inconvenience...as a retired construction manager who built a few AAmerican Storage facilities, I'm aware of what can go wrong. About 7 or so months in renting from this location. No complaints. Price is very affordable for the area. Manager on hand is always helpful and reasonable. I have no intention on ceasing my rent here anytime soon. The security is great too, I haven’t had any scares with my unit, or seen/heard anything uneasy. Recommended.

Came and rented a unit from Corey. He was professional and quick. I appreciate that it didn't take a lot of time. The property was clean and free of random people hanging out. I felt safe which isn't the case at all storage facilities. The hours that you can get into your unit is much better than the facility 2075 Newport Blvd which is 9-6!! Here you can get in 6-9 much better!

Absolutely pleasent experience. Eric was extremely helpful in assisting me in selecting the proper unit and offering any extra services to help protect my items. I was processed in 30 minutes and that included showing me my unit as well as securing it and going through the enter/exit procedures.

Standard public storage. While leaving one day, I noticed a crazy homeless guy enter by punching in a gate code! He made a bee-line for the bathrooms. They called us once to report the lock was gone from our door!!! We're moving.

This is hands down the best Public Storage I've used. And I have been using PS for 10 years in many different cities throughout SoCal! I highly recommend this location. From Customer Service to Cleanliness, they are above & beyond!

Good place to store items

Tif was extremely helpful on a very stressful moving day. I had misplaced my ID while packing the moving truck and didn't find it until they were almost closed for the day. Tif stayed late to help me get all the paperwork completed so I could move everything into the unit that evening. He is very nice and made the entire process painless. THANKS TIF!!!!

Sweet place for storage!

Came across this place because it was close and I needed some supplies for our moving company (PCH Movers) on the fly. Tif was working today. This guys was friendly and knowledgeable. It's rare to see it in this industry today. He is an Old School Asset. Unfortunately, prices on shrink wrap and tape need to come down. They are overpriced. It's not his fault, but management if you are reading this - DO your research in the area if want to sell. I buy supplies all the time, so if you don't want your supplies to collect dust, match your local storage places on Newport.

Clean and quiet in a great location. Barbara at the Pomona Street location was very helpful in transferring my reservation to this location and turning it over to Tif, who made the process quick and easy. Unit was clean and so were the grounds. I mainly chose Public Storage because of their until 9 PM access hours. Recommendation, don't go in and ask them what they have available, look online, everything available is posted, and the rates are sometimes better if you reserve a unit online versus in person.

Anytime I went there I found the lot very clean and my stuff always safe and secure.I feel it was also a very convenient location. Had used this facility for 2 years. Dustin, the property manager is super, very helpful and honest. The place always keeps clean and neat. Moved out yesterday due to the relocation. I highly recommend this location, if anyone need the self-storage in Newport Beach/Costa Mesa area.

Ive had experience with PS for approximately 6 months now. , Dustin, Joseph and Tif have been so helpful to me. Having your personal belongings other than at your home can make u nervous. These gentlemen have assured me my belongings are safe and have worked with me continually when im running late to accommodate. I love u guys and will always recommend you. Thank u so very much!

I ended up finding this facility because it was close to where we are living in Corona Del Mar. We just moved here from Boston in December. I found the facility clean and well managed and secure. I especially appreciated the assistance of Dustin in helping me choose a spot that fit our requirements but his help when I have gone back to find and reorganize the items we have put in the space. He assisted with disposing of some things in the trash bins and helping to disassemble an item that needed to be taken apart. Personable and helpful - a nice combination.

Dustin was very helpful and patient in helping me pick out my unit. A few days later, when I had trouble recalling my gate code, he stepped out of the office promptly to offer assistance without me asking for help. Customer service is A+!

I recently had reason to need emergency assistance on our storage unit we've had for a few years and Joseph took my situation seriously and responded with urgency and efficiency. Subsequently, he talked to management and gave me all of my options. Once I arrived on property, he was as kind in person as he was on the phone and handled the situation seamlessly. The district manager, I've, unfortunately, forgotten his name, was also very helpful and responsive. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my storage needs and am very thankful and appreciative of their seriousness to the situation, along with their friendliness and kindness.
