Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1604 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA

Absolutely pleasent experience. Eric was extremely helpful in assisting me in selecting the proper unit and offering any extra services to help protect my items. I was processed in 30 minutes and that included showing me my unit as well as securing it and going through the enter/exit procedures. EDIT: If I could give zero stars, I would. This Public Storage location terrible security setup has allowed my unit to be broken into twice and many family inheritance items were stolen. The perps came the first time and popped the lock and then they came back two weeks later after the manager and I installed two locks and this time they kicked in the whole door. This location has burned me on ever trusting Public Storage for anything as its pretty clear that it was an inside job.

If you value your belongings, or your wallet, or both, then by all means you need to resist the temptation to rent a space here. I was in a "locked" building you need a combination to enter, in a completely locked storage unit, yet burglars were able to enter, pick the lock and steal tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise. I was very careful to place items of any value in the unit at very late hours, when no one was on the premises, yet the burglars were able to enter, pick the lock and take what they desired without trouble. Funnily, they appeared to know exactly where to find valuable items, leaving several containers unmolested. This all suggests to me that they were given a combination to get inside the gate, a second combination to enter my locked facility, and and then intel on what they might find there. I'll leave it to you to imagine how they might have obtained all that information - I know I have my own thoughts. On top of all that, (1) Public Storage couldn't have cared less about the theft and, (2) over the course of one year, just before I left, they had nearly doubled my rent - I was paying well over $600.00 a month for the privilege of being robbed. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable storage company with staff on premises all day at least 6 days a week - this facility remains unguarded virtually every day, all day, and the gate is often broken, allowing anyone in who wants in. I'd give them zero stars or negative stars if I could

Thanks to Natalie at Public storage #20153 who referred me to #08504, I was able to rent a storage same day. David and manager Kat were very helpful, professional, and courteous. Store hours are very convenient 6am-9pm daily. Facility is very clean and off Newport Bl and 16th street in Costa Mesa.

My husband and I chose this storage place over another slightly cheaper option because of the friendly and knowledgeable gal at the front desk! She was professional yet personable and friendly, making us feel confident that our belongings will be safe and secure. We truly appreciated her excellent service. She is the reason we decided to do business here!

Everything went very smoothly, I paid the first month when I signed the agreement and downloaded the app. Once the lease started I drove up to the facility, opened my app, unlocked the front gate and unloaded my stuff. It happened exactly as they told me. A very nice, clean facility!

I recently rented a storage unit at this location. I was very pleased with how clean it is. I always felt safe coming and going. Susanna, the manager, was very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend this location.

My wife and I switched from a large storage room to a smaller one earlier today at the facility on Newport Blvd and the on-site manager, Susannah, was very helpful every step of the way. She made sure I was refunded for the lock I purchased for the storage room I vacated and she also took the time to show me how I could use the Public Storage app. to exit the site more quickly and efficiently. My sense is that she really cares about the customers and that she tries to do the best for us that she can. Keep up the good work! Mark Perman

Read the fine print on their lease agreement. My monthly payment went from $250 to $320. Public Storage can and obviously will increase your monthly payment whenever they feel like it

Can I start off by saying I would give this place a 5 star only and if only Susana worked here 24/7. Every single time I have needed help, she knows what to do. I have seen her in another location doing desk work for this location and other locations. She is dedicated to helping everyone and she makes it personal. It feels like I have known her forever, she is so kind. However, let me say why I gave this place a 4 star. It has gotten 2 major break in's since I've gotten the storage place. I've seen people living in this location, and it's easy since no one works at the actual location unless something happens..then they send someone over. I go on weekends more so to get and drop off things that I use for work. I often come across Susana there, and she is always smiles. Please have Susana stay at this location, and have it open for her to work there. This place needs attention, and Susana clearly cares. I've come across other workers multiple times, and they have been short and annoyed, but not Susana. Have I said Susana enough? I think it is important to give good people shout outs. It's not easy in this world, so thank you for hiring someone with a good heart.

I am a victim of this facility as my unit was broken into and many items stolen and filed a police report. The investigator explained that thieves break into this facility on a regular basis because there isn't any onsite security. As many as 30 units are broken into each time and the thieves can spend hours inside as there are no cameras to complete their work. It has the appearance of being secure with gate codes and cameras outside, but it is not. Thieves can come and go as they please with a gate code, which every customer gets and it's only when a customer visits the facility to find their unit vandalized do they find out about it. The thieves rent a unit online under a fake name and stolen credit card. Then they get the access codes and have full reign in the facility. I learned that the locks don't work as the doors can be easily pried off the tracks and the doors opened, which bypasses the locks. If you are considering storing here, then you should look elsewhere. Definitely not a Public Storage, but another facility that has an onsite 24/7 security guard. Otherwise you'll be a victim just like me.

Only a fool would store their stuff here. Met a Public Storage manager that oversees this location. Found out it gets hit every 3-4 months by thieves and the customers aren't ever notified about it. Sounded like an inside job from existing staff. Customers only eventually find out if they come to the facility and see their unit tossed. At least 20 units get broken into, tossed and anything over a $100 in value stolen every 3-4 months. Very easy for thieves to bypass the locks and get inside each unit. The last theft lasted 2+ hours with thieves going from unit to unit taking their time and loading up their truck. Again, only a fool would store their stuff here.

Great clean location. High rental rates and the raise them every year. Easy access with their phone app. The location is safe and very secure. After this post, I received a call from management. They were very understanding to my post and offered a review of my monthly fee. I'm happy to say that my fee was adjusted to my surprise.

I have no issue with the staff, they have always been available when needed; however it's upsetting as a long term renter to be taken advantage of with an annual increase between $18 and $25 each year with the exception of last year's increase of $50.. I was able to request a price break of a few dollars for 3 mts but it doesn't help over time.. rent has doubled in 5 years which forces me to make a change I didn't want..

We have had a horrible experience. Staff is difficult to get in touch with. Unresponsive and difficult to work with once you do get a live person on the phone. Locations do not have staff on premises, making them great targets for theft, vandalism and abuse. My storage unit door was damaged, vandalized and broken into and they did not notify me for over two weeks. Merchandise was stolen and the only response we have had in 24 hours is with the site manager, who seemed to be indifferent to the damage, violation and loss. Super sad to be caught up in such apathy.
