Burlingame location: While the space was clean and accessible, restrooms were not, the staff was unhelpful, unpleasant, somewhat snarky even and tried to get me to pay an additional month's rent when I had told management by phone and in person that I was closing my unit. I find that to be unprofessional. A better call would have been to ask if I still intended to rent the space. Palo Alto/Menlo Park location: Space is clean and accessible. There is a restroom. Staff is just there .. not upbeat and cheery .. but there, nonetheless.

I’ve been using the Public Storage facility in Burlingame since 2020, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with Lee. From the very beginning, Lee has been incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. About a year ago, I encountered an issue when the door of my storage unit was damaged, likely from another client accidentally pushing a cart into it. Lee was the first to contact me the day she identified the damage (she does regular checks on the units), showing genuine empathy for the situation and immediately taking action to resolve it. Although I was away during that time, once I returned, Lee worked closely with me to assess the damage (thankfully, none of my belongings were affected). She quickly helped me switch to a nearby unit and ensured the transition was as smooth as possible. Lee was incredibly patient, addressing all my questions, and made sure I was settled into the new unit without any hassle. Her professionalism and commitment to ensuring I was fully taken care of truly stood out.

This has been the worst experience. I made a rental reservation through the app and received a message the next day that the rental storage was ready. I loaded a lot of luggage and drove 40 minutes to the storage gate, where I entered the access code. However, a message appeared saying I needed to meet the manager to verify my ID before entering. But the office was locked, and no one was inside. I have been waiting for an hour and a half since 11 a.m., but no one has shown up. When I call the phone number listed on the door, I only reach an answering machine and cannot connect with any staff. I've already paid the rental fee, but the door won't open. Isn't this a scam? I need to head to the airport, but I have no idea how long I will have to wait. This is completely ruining my schedule.

Lee Ho at the front desk was very honest and helpful with checking in. She was transparent about the size of the locker and gave sound advice about alternate options. Just a warning though that the small lockers are located higher up and does require a ladder to get to them. If you have heavy items or scared of heights, I would advice against renting those. They also seem to be short on dollies as there was a customer just waiting outside for one to be available.

The customer service is the best! They are so kind and helpful. Especially the lady worker, she was so sweet and patient while I was trying to get situated and moved in. I got a storage that was smaller than I thought and they were able to quickly get a larger storage space for me. She also explained all the costs and showed me demos of the storage before I got it. I wish I could give 6 stars.

As a professional organizer sometimes you need to have extra space for clients things. This storage unit is climate controlled. So some of my clients store their art and bedding with no worry about damage. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Be AWARE of the Move Out Scam they do here. You scheduled a move out by the end of the month and they wait until you next monthly bill cicle ends to give you the move out receipt, making an excuse to them to charge you for the next month. I was wrongfully charged in 281 dollars and Public Storage wants to refund me trough a check in 6-8 weeks. Meanwhile my problem. Check also the elevator permit if you use the second floor. They are expired for at least two years, 2 of 3 elevator has problems in their boards. The management knows about that but who cares? The money is coming in. Move out scam + lack of maintenance of elevators = unprofessional place. Oh! They have a police to Jack up your rental price every 6 months. Because they know we are too lazy to move our stuff. You start paying 79 dollars and end paying 288 after 2 years. That’s my review. 1 star.

Lee Ho is the best! Excellent communication and customer service. Since the first day she was friendly and very informative about the company’s services, pricing, and billing. Anytime I needed anything or had a question I would go to her and I was not disappointed. As for the facility itself, it is clean and appears well maintained. Ample parking in the lots, and conveniently located off the freeway and In ‘N Out. Highly recommend.

Over a thousand dollars worth of items were burglarized out of my unit and their insurance refused all responsibility. This was a unit that was supposedly secure due to being indoors and requiring a code for entry into the building. Found out when trying to get into my unit for the first time in a long time and my key did not work. The staff present at the time were extremely unhelpful and did not view it as a problem that I was unable to access my unit. I ended up having to call a locksmith to drill the lock at my own expense. I then discovered that multiple items were missing, including two guitars I had owned for 15+ years, expensive electronics, and a vintage hi-fi amplifier given to me by my father. I went through the lengthy process of filing a police report and combing through old photos to provide proof I owned the items. Afterward I am told by Public Storage's insurance that because there was "no proof of forced entry" they would be denying my claim. It's obvious the thieves broke or forced the lock (the very same one Public Storage REQUIRES you to purchase from them and use), took whatever valuable items they saw at the front of it, then either put the broken lock back on or replaced it with another one of the same type. Despite the fact that employees were present to attest that the lock needed to be drilled off, they would not consider this sufficient evidence. This could happen to anyone. If thieves can manage to cut/break the lock off your unit (and Public Storage's security did nothing to prevent this), their insurance will refuse to compensate you and there's nothing you can do about it. This to say nothing of the many rent increases, the fact that the unit was smaller than the 5x10' advertised (they know there's nothing you'll do about it when you've already shown up with the movers and all your furniture), and the corrosion I found on a lot of metal items in the supposedly climate-controlled building. Stay far, far away.

Price Gouging: Buyer Beware - this location will increase your rents the moment the initial rental agreement is up and the rent increases exponentially - just like the former person mentioned. We experienced the same scenario and you will too. They know they have you because it's very time consuming to move out once you've moved into your space. We wasted a ton of time and resources moving out. We moved out early and they also refuse to prorate unused days even though they immediately start renting that space again. Save yourself a lot of hassle and expense and find a more reputable company.

Accessed the faculties before 9pm, gate locked at 9pm and could not open the gate to leave. The number to contact for after hours never answered the phone, had to leave my car and get a different ride, extremely inconvenient and why have an after hours number if no one picks up?

I've been with Public Storage in Burlingame for about a year now and from the moment I made arrangements with them via the web to the personal conversations and contacts I've had with staff there, everything has been excellent. When I first moved in, the staff I worked with were fantastic - helpful, quick, friendly, and professional. I got all the directions and information I needed and things ran smoothly. I recently had need to visit the front office and speak to someone about questions I had. Lee Ho, who was at the front desk, was outstandingly helpful and kind. Can't say enough good things about her and the business in general.

Price gouging. I rented a small space at this location for a few years. During that time, PS raised the rent several times, adding up to over 150%!! Last month, they raised the rent again by almost 30%. Now, my rent was almost three times (!!!) compared to 3~4 years ago. I had an autopay set up, and they were just drawing money from my account like it was their piggy bank. I called this location to inquire about this ongoing price increase. Their response was almost as appalling as the rent increase. It is natural and reasonable for a customer to call the service in situations like this to inquire, and yet their response was as if my inquiry was totally frivolous. I had to tell the person to calm down multiple times. In essence, what they were saying was, you signed the contract, and the contract states that they can raise the rent any time by any amount with a 30 day notice. If you don't like it, just move out. Why are you calling us? And, she hung up on me. I called the PS customer service for some "explanation", I guess. But, again, the same message. I signed the contract and I signed up for auto pay, and they could withdraw money from my bank as much as they liked, with a 30 day notice. Their message was loud and clear: They can do anything they like as long as it's in the contract, and as long as it's not illegal. They even called me stupid with so many words, because I didn't read, and yet signed, the contract. They called me even more stupid because I signed up for autopay without fully understanding its implications. You always have 30 days to move out every time we increase the rent. Fair and square. On top of this, the "customer service" person was unnecessarily mean-spirited, to mildly put it (beyond just reading the script provided by the management). Her tone was, don't let the door hit you on your way out. BTW, who thinks, and acts, like this? As long as it's not illegal, they can do anything??? The vast majority of us do not live like that. We think about ethics, and social responsibilities, and what not. Business practices by Public Storage appalls me. It disguusts me. Especially, at this time of economic uncertainty due to high inflation. Many people have lost jobs. And yet, companies like PS engage in profiteering and price gouging. The saddest part is, these people working for PS will eventually lose their jobs. This "customer service" person will likely be replaced by chatbots, for instance. Companies who scruw their customers will likely scruw their employees as well. I feel pity for these "loyal" employees. I was traveling at the time, but I immediately changed my plan and came back. (It was really inconvenient and it cost me a lot of extra money, but I didn't care. PS was surely praying on people like me, for their lives being inconvenienced.) I donated almost everything I had in the storage to Good Will and libraries, and to random people on the street. I vacated the place, and I decided to never use Public Storage ever again. Over the past few decades, I used PS in various locations, and I ended up wasting tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. I finally realized how stupid I was. I really didn't have to be told that by these mindliss people with no ethical standards. If you think about renting a unit at this place, think again. Donate, or throw away, your stuff. It's not worth it. BTW, I reported this to FTC. I know it's a long shot. But, please do so if you think that this kind of business practice is unacceptable. If enough people complain, then they will do something about this unethical business practice. I really hope they do.

The staff was very kind and showed me the unit. I was planning to rent a locker to store a few luggages. But the lockers are all located 8 feet high, on top of those larger storage units. I need to climb a ladder to access it. The ladder is not wide enough to bring up a standard check in luggage. I wish their website could have pictures and clear information about this. I then went to Extra Space storage which is just around the corner. Their lockers are arranged for easy access.

Lee checked me and my little one in relocating from Seattle WA. We were totally burnt out after the long drive and she was very understanding. She is nothing short of amazing. She is very quick, efficient and courteous. Love her ❤️
