Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 9701 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA

On May 20th, I was helped by the most delightful women in the storage business. I lost the post it note that a hand their names on it but, I do remember the first letter of each of their names, R and L. I booked the wrong size unit and L quickly helped me find and transfer into a new size. The transition/ resign up was smooth and everything was resolved in 15 mins. Thanks for giving great customer service!

Staff rude and would not honor reservation After initially placing reservation online I received a follow up confirming my move in date. I said I wanted to get unit a few days early before my move date and was told that is not necessary. I'm glad I went with my instincts not to trust them and reserve a couple days early. When I arrived older guy seemed confused and annoyed as I introduced myself and said my reservation time. I had made reservation a month prior for 9X15. He said they didn't have any 9X15 available. He then proceed say I could still have next closest size 10X15 at current rate which was 50% higher. I asked if they could honor the reservation price since he already admitted it is close to the same size and reservation fine print says approximate sizes and he said no. I called their customer support hotline and they also said they could do nothing to honor reservation price as said no unit available and instead blamed their website.

Leena the property manager was so kind! She allowed my husband and I time before she closed down the place to move our belongings and bed frames and mattresses up to our unit! She even helped us load and steer the pallets up the elevator, through the halls and up to our unit and gave us good advice on how best to store things! We had only 1 week to pack and move out of our home and were going homeless so this step of a storage unit and a kind Mananger had really helped put our minds at ease! We are so blessed this storage is so close to the house we are moving from and we are relieved our precious belongings are safe here! The prices are affordable as well!

Update- My original review was posted about a month after I got my unit. I had given Public Storage a 4-star rating. At this time, I thought I had a great unit with a nice price. The monthly fee started at $95. My current rate is now $210. It's awful and basically extortion. I think the biggest problem I have with the constant price increases is the fact this place has almost NO overhead. Theres only a handful of employees. They don't ship anything. They don't have fuel costs. No real real costs outside of paying for the huilding and electricity. Nothing. This is raising the price for the sake of corporate greed. I'll definitely be moving my stuff out and back to uhaul. The costs didn't increase ONCE in the 2 years I had my stuff in a Uhaul storage unit.

I had doubts about storage facilities in the Seattle Area -- many do not offer weekend access or have limited hours. Not this place. It's open 7 days a week, open till late in the evening. I came across Public Storage back in Jan. But no matter how good something looks online, it's always advisable to actually visit the site and meet the manager and staff before signing on. I was able to get to their address on Aurora Ave. It was close to my house. There is convenient and ample parking. Lena, the store manager, made me feel comfortable right away. She followed the current protocols of mask-wearing, social distancing, and use of hand sanitizer, which is available to anyone in various areas of the building. Lena is on top of her game; she really knows her business, quickly quoting unit prices, making eye-to-eye contact, and going over the steps to secure a rental from A to Z. She took the time to give me a tour of the building. Safety is always an issue, and I am glad that the facility has monitors and gated access throughout. I like that they can discount the unit if you provide your own insurance to cover property loss or damage. Their rentals are month-to-month; you are not locked into any long-term contract. There is even a public restroom in the facility. I recommended the storage to my parents primarily because of the store manager, and they now store their stuff here as well. They could not have been happier with the service they received from the manager. Overall, you could not find a better place where the employees go above and beyond, making this rental storage facility a worthwhile experience for everybody. Thank you, Lena.

Even if we were to move to east side or down south, I would still keep this location because of these two. The location is clean and safe and have never had an issue with any kind of water damage, raw temperatures, or mites/bugs. When they say it’s temperature controlled, they mean it. I couldn’t ask for better service and product. Great job, Lemlem and Lena!

I booked my space online and within MINUTES, I had one. You must go and show proof of ID to get access to unit. Thank you for protecting my unit! Showed up and LemLem took me to my unit and had a tour of the layout! Very cool! Very spacey and very clean. Office staff is knowledgeable and great! I'm happy to know my belongings are secure and protected!

I’ve rented a half garage from this location for about 4 years now. I love it. It’s always very clean and there is almost always parking close to the elevators. My only complaint is how much they jacked the rent up on me last year. It was about $55/mo for three years, and then out of nowhere it went to $150/mo. I’m ok with rent hikes but you just have to be more gradual about it.

Needs more lighting facilities inside the storage space

Buyer Beware! Access Hours and Locks are an Issue!!! My experience with Public Storage Seattle 9701 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103 on August 31st 2022. Access hours are not convenient as the are 6 AM to 6PM. The hours should be to at least 8PM at the least and preferably 10PM if not. 6AM to 6PM for the average person with an 8 - 5 job really doesn’t work. What It means more is you have my stuff hostage until I can access it on the weekends. Secondly the lock situation at the 9701 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103. The website states that all units need to have a lock. Reading further it states that the location offers premium locks at a “small fee”. What it breezes over is that at some locations only take Public Storage’s “UHaul” proprietary cylinder lock. None of your padlocks will work on their system. The “small fee” of $25 dollars, “not small”, is required by them to rent your unit unless you can provide one of your own. This is a proprietary cylinder lock that only works on their doors, no one will have this lock unless they have been through this process before. The advertised rent was $35 for the first month add $25 required dollars for the proprietary lock makes the first month $60 plus tax and fees not $35. This is not truthful advertising. Truth in advertising should read $60 for your first month and whatever dollars per month thereafter. Experiencing this felt like an illegal bait and switch scheme and really made me upset. I have rented my fair share of storage units during my life and this is the first time I have encountered ridiculous hours of operation or a proprietary lock system scheme that makes you spend money on equipment you can’t use any other place than at the storage facility. The Good: 1. Clean 2. Well lit 3. Airconditioned 4. Secure 5. Polite and Professional Staff The Bad: 1. Proprietary Lock Scheme 2. Hours of Operation 6Am to 6PM 3. Elevators have a keypad system that times out too quickly. 4. Not enough carts “Only 6” available. 5. Restrooms needed keys “should have keypad and code” 6. Only one set of entrance and exit gates were operational. I had to three point turn a moving truck after trying to exit the facility. I’m sure you can tell I am very disappointed and upset by all of this. If it weren’t for the hour of the day and having no other options, I would have chosen a different facility. I was able to finish the move with two minutes to spare. The whole experience left me feeling frustrated, cheated, and angry.

This is the best bang for your buck in the area. Easy access to carts, helpful staff, secure building. Like their texting and online functionality - the way renting a unit should be. I'll be using them again!

Lena was great answered all questions. Update/tip: if you have renters or homeowners insurance that covers off site units, you don't need to purchase the orange door insurance! You also don't need to provide proof of it- just tell them you have it and you're all set!

This review is for both this location and specifically Lena! Lena at the front desk/rental area was so helpful. It was my first time at this location helping a friend clear out their locker and Lena not only took time to help us switch to the new app but also she took the initiative to come up with us and ensure to replace the battery for the electronic lock as we hadn't visited the locker in a while, she suspected the battery may have needed replacement. As we mentioned we were clearing the locker out she also outlined future instructions for us about what to do once we are finished. Lena was amazing! Location - there is a drive in garage entrance with about 15 parking spots for vehicles. The garage can also accommodate a few moving trucks and vans. Locker facility looked well maintained, elevators and storage units all seem to be well updated to electronic security.

I just moved out, and didn’t have any friends or family to assist me at the storage unit. Lena was incredibly sweet and helpful! I managed to get everything taken care of much more simply than if she hadn’t been working there. Also, I highly recommend buying vacuum sealing mattress space saver bag.

Place is horrible. Cant get in to unit after 6pm. Service is terrible. Dont order a unit online as they will give you a unit with an 8x8 pole in the middle. Signed up for auto bill pay and their system didnt register it. When you fill out their customer service survey and tell them about issues you get your rent increased.

I like the indoor parking but getting a cart is a headache now. At first the carts were just there to use. Then they locked them up and you had to go to the office to get a key, except sometimes nobody in the locked office so had to wait Now the carts are supposed to be on each floor but they are not sometimes so need to search around or stand around and wait

This public storage facility has no bathrooms for customers to use so if you are going to be working on your storage space be prepared to leave and use the bathroom off-site. Also, they will not pro-rate extra time for you to clear out your unit. I went over 1 extra day and was charged for the whole month. Super freaking lame!!

Lena and Chester were the best customer service reps I've ever seen at a storage unit.

Beware of significant price increases that appear out of the blue. I was notified that the rent for my space was changing from $181 to $231---a 28% increase---from one month to the next (after just six months of being there). When I asked why, I was informed that the company "uses algorithms" and decides what it is going to charge you based on the market value of the space. They use the month-to-month agreement against you to allow them to rapidly increase the price once you're in and a great deal of effort has already been expended. This is a particularly despicable practice, because those renting space, who may or may not have a lot of time or extra resources, must move all of their belongings out within the following 30 days to avoid paying the significantly increased rate. (Update: The friendly staff at the storage facility were able to get the rent increase postponed by 3 months to allow me a bit more time to complete the move-out. This appears to be one of those instances where hard working, well-meaning local staff are held hostage to cold corporate policies.)

I wish I could give 4 stars because I like the manager, Marie, so much!! My issues were with the building and Public Storage, as a company, and so much of that is out of the control of the staff. I had ongoing issues with the elevators and app / door locks.When I moved in, there was only one functioning elevator and it resulted in me renting a second unit on the ground floor for the sake of time. I ended up moving to another storage facility down in SeaTac, which has turned out to be a rat-infested dump. The good: This storage facility is clean. I never felt unsafe here as a customer. There is covered parking and free carts to borrow (1 per household). There is an on-site restroom, even if you must go to the office and get a key or have them come unlock it for you. The people who work there are very nice and I learned some helpful self-defense techniques from Marie. Marie didn't hold it against me when trying to fix the app on my behalf caused her whole system to crash over a weekend. She is awesome! While I certainly pay less in SeaTac, I miss the convenience of this location, the cleanliness and safety. Staff do rounds and really keep an eye on things. The not-so-great: Be aware that the shape of 5x10 units is narrow (it's not the same as a 10x5). It can be tricky to access items in the unit and take longer to pack/unpack. The elevators are unreliable and the app to unlock the doors can be, as well. There are restrooms, though they are locked due to local crime and the only available one is on the ground floor (it still requires a key from the front door). The hours of access are limited. As a company, Public Storage offers great introductory rates but then raises them (this is pretty common) so don't get too comfortable if you're on a tight budget. Ask questions. While the facility was new and clean when I was a customer, I did see people storing bulk amounts of food and water in their units. I know now, due to my experience at the place in SeaTac, that this attracts rodents. I hope management is keeping an eye on this and investing in preventative services.

I originally gave the place 5 stars when i checked in. Building and units are new… place is nice. However today my rating dropped to 3 stars. Mainly due to disappearing staff who locked up the office and left leaving customers waiting to return and get carts. Then when the employee returned they were rather rude about everything. Its a nice facility… too bad the staff is not as nice.

I was shocked at how secure this facility is. You have to have your access code to open the gate, and the office is inside the facility. The customer service was excellent ( I should have read all of the details from the text message I received from renting online...so user error.) It was super easy to get a cart because you have to check them out. I have been at facilities where the carts are MIA because folks leave them wherever. The storage is super clean and does not smell. My last storage unit had a wood floor and wood storage. There were fragrance items everywhere, which covered up the must., and my stuff smelled when I pulled it out. Anyway, this place is over the top secure, and super clean. Also, it is reasonable priced. I am very happy that I chose this place, and I highly recommend it.

The office called at 12pm because I missed my move-in this morning I lost tack of time packing. I told her I could make it at 12:30 so she put me down at 12:30pm. When I arrived at 12:29pm I saw an employee at the office so I parked my car in front of the office and tried the door but was already locked with a sign said they will be back at 1:30. I understand people take breaks and stuff and I would’ve appreciated a heads-up.

Had a wonderful experience when my family received a call from Marie that she had found a pair of lost skis and boots that had been stolen nearly a year ago and left in someone’s storage unit. She was kind enough to reach out when she saw a phone number on the skis and we were overjoyed to know that someone cared enough to contact us in order to return them. Prices randomly went up. I guess I got a notice but it was buried in some random email that didn't give what I would call sufficient notice. Grounds are clean, security is decent but customer service and proffessional standard are not great.

I just rented and filled my first storage unit! The process couldn’t have been any simpler. I booked a unit online and then called to make an appointment in person to check the size out. Best storage in Seattle! At beginning of covid, I rented a 10x10, left my stuff in the unit and never touched it or visited the unit again. When I returned 2years later, i wasnt sure what I was going to find. the unit and building was as pristine and Clean as the day I moved in. No odor , nice and clean, no mice or rodents. Staff such as Marie and Warren are also extremely helpful and pleasant to interact with. Marie really went above and beyond for me and I am so thankful for her extra time and attention. For being so close to downtown Seattle and relatively close to Bellevue this is a worry free easy choice.

This is a very secure & clean Public Storage Facility & is just as new as when it opened. There could be more Storage carts for their busier days. However the staff are helpful and curious. This location is 1 of the biggest Public Storage locations I've had the pleasure of renting from.

Loved my experience at this specific public storage. Was extremely clean and well organized, with great access. The part that brought my experience to a 5 star review was the manager Marie. She was extremely helpful, friendly, and ran a tight ship. Making sure everyone was able to get a cart to help load and unload their belongings. I would 100% recommend this location, again mostly because of the excellent experience I had with the manager Marie! 5 Stars for sure!

It was my first time renting a storage unit and Marie was extremely helpful and made it easy and quick.

Only available from 6am to 6pm. Due to my job hours I'm usually not able to make it after work. And sometimes only 1 door is able to work so u have to drive around or walk around the block to go inside. And its 37 for the smallest unit there a month. Just be ready to stand up on this stair ladder thing. Still a good deal tho. And the front office lady is pretty nice and direct so u understand their policy

The first thing I'd like to say about this place is the FANTASTIC manager, Marie!! She was so kind, compassionate and patient. The day I moved into my unit was during our June heatwave, and walking into a clean and cool office was a godsend. Not only that, when I told Marie about my experience at the PS location I had just moved out of, she offered me cold water and that just made my day! I had a great experience finding the right unit with Warren. He showed me several options and was very thorough in explaining what to expect. I popped back in a few days ago to drop another load of items off and I couldn’t get roll-up gate to go up! Connie, the staff member on duty went to the unit with me and troubleshot the situation until we were able to get my latch to slide and my gate up. She saved me from wasting my lunch hour. This location is great - I’d definitely recommend it to others.

Wow. Their price increases are insane. I've had the storage unit for a year and have had two increases - the first was a big bump after 6 months and just now it went from $54 to $97! This is for a storage unit the size of a hall closet. That is insane. On top of this they have very limited hours. 9:30am to 6pm so if you work 9-5 then you only have one hour to work with during the week, or use your weekends. The staff is friendly but that can't come close to making up for this price gauge scam.

If you like having your things securely stored, then this is NOT the facility to go to. My car was broken into and my items were stolen during business hours, in the “secure parking garage”, and the cameras in the garage just so happened to be off? I’ll let you draw your own conclusions with that information. But take it from me, if you’re going to pay all this money to store your things here, at the very least you should be able to park your car, load and unload your items and feel safe doing so.

I'm "between" apartments and I've had no problems stopping by to drop items off and retrieve others quickly from my unit during business hours on a weekly basis.

This location provides helpful service and clean units. We were served quickly and efficiently by Alfredo. Public Storage offers a variety of storage unit sizes that keep your extra stuff. All of the units are indoors. The drive up areas also indoors and provide the parking right next to the elevator. This makes it much easier to unload and load your stuff. Carts are provided to wheel your stuff to and from your storage unit. The rates are reasonable for storage and often there is a discount offered for the first month of rental.

Public storage on 97th and Aurora exceeded my expectations a great deal. I was pleasently surprised by how nice the amenities are at that location. The building was clean and organized, with open/breathable spaces for cars and moving trucks to park and unload. It is easy to navigate the building, and the staff are friendly and show a sincere desire to be there for the customer. You can tell they genuinely care about creating an environment that goes above and beyond for the customer experience. The dollies were a nice helpful element for moving my larger awkward items to my storage unit. And Your facility was a contributing factor to helping eliminate the typical stress levels I experience when moving. I have never rented a storage unit before, and tend to have fears or hesitancies when I sign up for anything I have no prior knowledge of, especially one that takes my money every month lol. And I have had a handful of friends that all have had horror stories about the terrible customer service and unprofessionalism they have dealt with. The entire experience gave me a confidence that allowed this to be a process absent of fear. From the initial online reservation, to communicating with different staff members, to using helpful tools for transporting my belongings at the facility, and to getting everything moved in. I am definitely going to spread the word! Online reviews are helpful marketing tools. However, in my opinion and experience, reputation is everything and Word Of Mouth "advertising", is the best way to build a strong clientele base that only grows in one direction...up...it also brings you the customers that are loyal and will stick with and support a company that provides the type of culture and environment present at your location; which is a dying feature in the service world today. You can read reviews online all day, but if you hear a "review/opinion" on a business from someone you personally know or trust, how can you not want to support that company. A big Thank you to all that aided in making the final trek of my move effortless and absent of negative emotions/feelings. You guys rock.

The staff here are amazing! It is so rare to receive such quality in customer service these days. Two ladies that have gone above and beyond for me are Marie and Tiffany. I lost the keys to my unit the day after I got them... and of course showed up with larger items, a little before closing and then realized the keys were nowhere to be found, not only did they exceed in helping me find a reasonable solution- they called me the next day, trying to expedite these said, solutions to my problems :) It meant a lot to me that not only do they care enough to take time out of their day to help me, but they kept my situation in mind. I appreciate you ladies more than you even know. I am very pleased with my experience here, and love the brand new facility :) Lastly, shout out to Mitchell, he resonated with me from the very beginning when he called me and was very helpful from the get. This building is new so my storage unit was sparkling clean and hadn’t been previously occupied. Very secure site, you need a code just to get up the elevator. Friendly staff. Please reserve a unit online, rather than over the phone. It is markedly cheaper. You need an ID to check out a trolley. But beware of Saturdays! I had no issue getting a trolley on weekday evenings to move things from my car, but had to wait 30 minutes for one on a Saturday afternoon. Would bring your own or come with a few strong and cheerful friends if moving on a weekend.

My day started much like yours probably will: realizing that more storage was necessary in order to continue to balance having a usable space and having a lot of useful items. I came to this stark realization when my two snowboards and sets of golf clubs had completely engulfed the edges of my living room and had fallen on another piece of furniture. Why do I have two of these things? Question to answer another day, but what really mattered in the moment was finding a new home for these prized possessions. Enter: Connie at Public Storage. As I walked into the location on Aurora ave (property number 29271) I was greeted by Connie's welcoming smile (or at least I assumed she was smiling since we all are wearing masks now) and the smell of freshly painted walls. The location was immaculate - not a piece of dust or dirt on the floors and not a mark on the walls. After signing the required documents on an iPad, Connie showed me to my unit. As we approached, the iconic orange door beckoned me to open it. Slowly I pulled open the gate and there I saw it: the best 4x6 space money could buy. My mind raced with excitement as I thought to myself "what else could I put in here to make my life easier?" My experience at Public Storage was unique in every way, shape and form - I have never felt the excitement of ranting a storage unit before in my life, but for Connie it was just another day on the job and another happy customer.

Easy access to units, ya'll need to stop stealing the carts, tho, it's kinda convenient to have them available when you're moving! Great staff, cool people :-) thanks for taking care of my daughters stuff for the month. Appreciate you!

The process for reserving a unit and getting set up was simple and efficient. I reserved a unit and asked to move in on the same day. The entire set up process took no more than 30 minutes. Tiffany and Marie are funny, smart, and on top of it. I left feeling like my things are safe in their care.

No restrooms for on site workers and over crowded elevator service. Only one code at a time can operate elevators.

If it's 8am to 8pm access, why are they always kicking everyone out by 6pm?
