About North Richland Hills

Located 20 minutes northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, North Richland Hills is a thriving suburban community in north central Texas. People began moving to North Richland Hills in 1848, thanks to a federal land grant. The founder of the city, W.S. Peters, moved 600 families to the area over a three-year period, and it became a rural community based around the agriculture and ranching industries. It wasn't until 1953 that the city incorporated, giving it an official title.

The city thrived afterwards as suburbs became the preferred living situation for many Americans during the post-war period. From about 8,000 people in the 1960s to more than 60,000 in 2010, North Richland Hills has experienced major growth, thanks to its attractive amenities and convenient location.

Due to its proximity to two major metropolitan areas, North Richland Hills is experiencing rapid growth. The major factor in the population boom is the lure of suburban living, away from the hustle and bustle of a large city. North Richland Hills also has an extremely low unemployment rate compared with both the state and national rates.
