About Taylors

Taylors is a thriving community in northwestern South Carolina, spanning over 10 miles in the Greenville-Spartanburg area. It's among the largest suburbs in the region, and its population more than tripled between 1970 and 2010. The close proximity to the Appalachian Mountains makes Taylors the perfect destination for people who love the outdoors, and the abundance of local amenities makes the town a convenient place to call home.

The History of Taylors

As part of the Greenville metropolitan area, Taylors shares its rich industrial history in textile manufacturing and agriculture. Much of the land was originally used for farming, thanks to the fertile soil and abundant water supply. Mills and factories, like the Southern Bleachery and Print Works (a historical landmark today), began to dot the landscape in the late 1800s.

Over the decades, Taylors remained a fairly small town until the latter half of the 20th century. At that point, it experienced several population booms. In 1960, the population was just over 1,000 people, but by 2000, it stood at more than 20,000.
