Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 24200 Telegraph Road, Southfield, MI

My unit was robbed from this location police are saying the cameras aren't in a good spot to identify the people. Public storage over charged me for it being broken into and then raised my rate hopefully it's the last month for me here .. this location nothing is safe , nothing is watched ..I wasn't alerted when my things were take so I feel like one of the workers were in on it .. I'm really disappointed and I can't be there anymore .. 1 of the elevators never works and it's always dirty. Multiple people had been robbed as well so I know someone is dirty

I really like the storage unit a guy named Malcolm help me through the process. I been here for a few months really thinking about transferring into a bigger storage unit! Malcolm help me with any questions I had . Thank you so much for your help kindness. 😊

The building is very clean and secure. The service is excellent and kudos to the manager named Malcolm who has assisted me many times so that as a Senior Citizen I could make payment and access my storage unit adequately. He guided me through online payment etc. He is a great representative for Public Storage and the individual stellar quality of staff excellence! Thank YOU Malcolm!

A couple of weeks ago I was at the Southfield location (24200 Telegraph) and was having trouble with the elevator. For whatever reason the code that I had was not working. Malcom was making his rounds and asked what the problem was, he tried the code I had and saw that it did not work. He then verified my identity, went to the office to check it out come to find out, I had the wrong code. He was very polite and respectful. I greatly appreciated his help.

Please runnn to another facility, this facility is dirty, the owner doesn’t follow up calls for maintenance, the key pad and app barely works, crackheads hangout in the back often smoking dope, hopefully they don’t rob you when you arrive, as they like to smoke in the bushes right behind the parking spaces. Lock your doors! The owner tried conning me out of 110 dollars for a Unit I moved out of the day before the first, and refused to answer my calls. 5 days later I got a phone call saying I owe 110 dollars for moving out on the first? He thinks I’m gonna pay 110 for one day? 😂😂😂 I made them aware I have video evidence and pictures time and date stamped for the 31st and didn’t give me the option of providing proof after it took us an hour to access the building to get my things due to the app not working as usual. Thank goodness my sister has a unit there. I even asked them to review camera footage and they replied no! Guess what you’ll never get that 110 dollars you fn clown🤡 I would look at a better storage that’s maintained better and cleaner as my supposedly climate controlled storage had plenty of bugs in my belongings after I got them home I had the pleasure of leaving my things outside for hours to see if more roaches 🪳 would crawl out! The owner is a thief a liar and a crook! If I could give no stars If I could! It’s always trash everywhere in this place inside & outside of it! My sister has complained every since she moved here and will also be moving out soon as well. Believe the other reviews the owner and management is trash, the owner is a thief and a liar. Do not trust these people. Go elsewhere.

If I could leave 0 stars I would… I called a 8:50 AM, got my unit. They sent me to the third level, no even a single light on, I couldn’t walk because of how dark it was the third floor, I called and they said they were going to contact the manager, an hour pass by nothing. I had to get all my stuff back to the truck and cancel it, and when I did they still charged me $30 as an administration fee non refundable but I couldn’t even use the unit. There was dirty socks in the elevator, my fear was to have someone living in the 3rd floor with all the lights off. I took this photo with flash you can see how dark it was.

I had a great experience with Malcom, he was very thorough with the rental process and made sure I understood. He was very nice throughout the whole process.

It worked for what I needed but don't think I'd use them ever again. They charged $20+ for a lock that will fit nothing else. But your stuff will be secure because you need your code to get up in the elevator and in the gate and out the gate... also way too expensive

Extremely poor service, have the unit for almost 4 months now and only had access 3x due codes not working or construction. Incurred so many cost from moving company and only thing Public Storage does is offer fee after fee. Take some valuable advice and take your business elsewhere. I have seen several employees leave since dealing with this problem. Wish someone would have warned me.

Douglas is the nicest property manager at any Public Storage I've been to! He goes above and beyond to help his customers out. Always friendly and has a smile! Definitely get a storage unit here if you are looking!

Douglas was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. He has a very good work ethic and he was interested in helping out with whatever I needed. I had a great experience at this location, much better experience than what I've had at other locations.

Do not store your valuables here. They claim to be a safe and secure facility, but they are not. Last year my storage unit was broken into and most of my valuable and irreplaceable items were stolen. Security cameras didn't catch anything and the managers in the office basically told me tough luck. I complained to corporate, but they were no help either. The police think it was an inside job since multiple units were broken into under so-called surveillance. I never got any of my items back and because of this I will never store anything at this place or do business with them ever again. There are better places to store your items and much cheaper than this place.

This is my 2nd time renting from public storage but my 1st time renting at the 24200 telegraph rd location. Initially I was very concerned with organization and customer service but soon after meeting Douglas surprised me. He was so pleasant and kind. After it was all said and done, his efficacy made a world of difference.

He has been asking questions on how he can better maintain his clients heating and cooling needs at a conditioned storage building to prevent downtime. I’m not seeing much of this work ethic as of lately and felt the need to voice the positive I have seen from Douglas.

I just dealt with the location on telegraph in Southfield which is near my job (Doug) was very helpful he went above and beyond to help me out, And while I was there another gentleman approached to help me aswell and he was Hands-On come to find out it was the district manager name (WAYNE) I could not believe a district manager was so involved and so helpful I highly recommend public storage. I had the 7.5 x 10’ storage unit for about 6 months when the price went up by $30 a month. I was notified by postcard. I was also forced to pay for their lock after telling them I already had one, from another PS facility. The lock was placed inside my storage unit and they refused to let me return it. Refused. Also, be careful about them charging you for insurance, if you have renter’s or homeowner’s insurance you’re probably already covered.

Update!!!::: I posted this review originally around June 2021! Since then have had the WORST experience ever! DO NOT STORE YOUR ITEMS AT THIS STORAGE FACILITY!!!!!!! ((Have had my storage unit since 2019, have literally had no problems since becoming a customer! Convenient hours and accessible storage. I'm not sure what else I could ask for! And I've always had great customer service interactions with the staff.)) I opened my storage unit Feb 2019. For the most part, I had no complaints. Sometimes I’d go in and the building would be sweltering hot because of the heat in summer, and sometimes it’d be as cold outside during the winter… but I’ve worked in offices and I know switching the heating/cooling tend to be delayed. The elevator would break down but it’d usually be back up within a couple days. HOWEVER, my doors pulley system broke almost soon after posting my original review in July 2021. I called countless times and left too many voicemails about it and would never get a call back and I never got through to anyone. Because of my door, I also couldn’t securely lock my items. And I also couldn’t move my items because of the quantity of the things I’d been storing and the door would immediately fall back down if trying to prop it up. I’m not sure the weight of the door but it’s extremely heavy when not being operated by its pulley system. I finally called corporate and filed a complaint the beginning of October! When I tell you, I received a call back within days! I received a voicemail and they confirmed via voicemail that my door couldn’t be locked and/or lifted sufficiently and a work order would be put in immediately. November 4, I came to check on my items and everything I’d been storing since Feb 2019 was stolen. There wasn’t a crumb, a pen, NOTHING! Nothing! I’d had all my items organized on racks and even the racks were gone! It looks as if the employees themselves stole my items after they confirmed my door couldn’t be locked because the floor of my unit was even swept!!!! AND there is no cameras on the property. Thousands of dollars of materials and items gone! When I told Southfield police, they told me they get about 8 reports per 8 hour shift of Public Storage units being robbed!!!!! I pray no one has to go through this experience! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT STORE YOUR ITEMS HERE OR AT ANY PUBLIC STORAGE!!! Has been the most devastating experience of my life. Then when I tried to closed the account, they said they had to have manager approval. I heard nothing, then called back a few days later, and then they complained about the door not being broken like that originally! OMG! Months later, they are trying to send this account to collections!!! Do not store your items here, save yourself the hassle!

This place was grest when I moved my stuff in. But the price went up twice in a little over a year. Its almost twice as much as I started at origionally. The main complaint and the only complaint.
