After being gone on a 10 month deployment, my storage unit was broken into for a 2nd time. I received no communication from the manager or public storage, I had to find out from a passing by renter about this. My lock was changed without communication and every time I have called to speak with someone, I get a voicemail, and no response. Do not recommend using this location unless you enjoy your units being broken into and poor communication.

The only downfall of Public storage is the rental increases I have experienced. It seems like every other month my rental fees go up, but this facility is keep neat and clean and there have been no other problems.

This place has the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I came to get things out of my unit one night and as I went to leave the gates were locked so I got stuck there for about 30 minutes. After someone let me out they turned off my access to my unit. It’s been 10 days since and I haven’t been able to get a real person to speak to me until today. They told me I’ll be evicted for “ loitering “ when I was just stuck because the gate was locked. They also accused me of committing a burglary and said that’s why my access has been revoked. This place is an absolute disgrace. I will never let anyone I know get a unit here. They don’t even have a physical staff anymore it’s all online kiosks that can’t help.
Rented a 20x20 unit and only 1 of the 2 doors opened, so I requested a refund and the site manager refunded me for lock but said in order to get refund for the unit I had to call customer service. I spoke via live chat with 3 representatives, 1st one said I would receive a full refund within 48hrs, 2nd one said within 72 hrs, and now the 3rd, with still no refund has said it will take 6-8 weeks to process the refund.......THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!.

and have never in my life done business with a COMPANY SO IRRESPONSIBLE this company makes billions of dollars a year they are worldwide but believe me customer service is non-existent
Unit was broken into and it was made extremely difficult to work with the company to get access afterwards due to being out of town.
There is no on-site office or staff and after locks were replaced with the company's, the unit was gained access to without force between the time locks were replaced and I was able to return to town, meaning someone had access either within the company or someone that knew an employee and even more items were missing.
Whether this was done during the time of the locks being replaced or afterwards, I do not know. After both events, staff from another location in charge of this one were unwilling to help or assist with figuring out what happened.
The insurance did not cover any missing items as they had been purchased years ago and no "purchase receipts" were available. I was told there would be a follow-up with the initial break-in and there never was. I was then told to follow the police report and contact IMPD, which was not helpful either.
In addition to this, they proceeded to increase my rent the month following the break-in!! I proceeded to drive across country during my only vacation time and removed all items from the storage unit and immediately canceled the contract.
The cameras here are useless when there are none on the inside of the building.
Steer clear and find another location to store you items!
Updated review... Our unit was broken into and left unsecured for 3 days. From what one of the managers told me the upper management is only taking action if a customer reports an issue. Needless to say the only thing left in our unit is trashed and Public Storage has the audacity to charge me for this month's rent. Bad business and terrible customer service. Don't store here if you ever want to sew your stuff again.

Hard to speak with a live person
Havent even moved in yet and contacting a real person is a joke. Automated number anytime you click the number to try to talk to a real person it just starts over. Theyve left me 2 voicemails asking me to call and when I have multiple times over multiple days it doesnt work. **EDIT** After finally moving my things into the unit I ran into a woman who said she was moving her items soon and suggested I do the same. Her lock was broken and replaced by the storage company and they didnt even notify her. She had to play phone tag with them after showing up locked out of her unit. I also have auto pay set up and they charged, refunded and charged me again only to to call and tell me I owe. I'm already making plans to switch another company.
stopped by to buy some packing supplies (boxes, etc.) only to find that there is no longer a manned office here, only a bunch of storage units and an atm like machine to make rental payments. they do list a phone number for further information, but doubt they can shove any boxes through your phone when you call. wouldn't get much of a warm and fuzzy feeling renting a unit here as there's no one you can talk to (you know that thing where you and they are in the same room) should you have a problem that needs quick action.
Paid off balance owed to gain access to my unit. 3 days later and they still have not removed their lock. I nor the customer support number can get anyone on the phone to remove the lock for me. Very dissatisfied!
Was there with a person who has a shed. There seems to be a problem with water drainage. Glad I got my items out
Was onsite with a customer to remove her lock and Amercia was really nice. She made sure I was cutting the right locker number. Great security measure.

If you have a storage unit at Public Storage on 7430 Madison Ave, I HIGHLY suggest you check your units.
Today we discovered our unit has been broken into and we have a lot of things that have been stolen. They cut off our lock and replaced it with a lock of their own. We suspect they have made multiple trips based on the items that were taken and it would explain why they put a new lock on. We are also suspecting the people who did this have a unit of their own there or they did. I am truly convinced this was an “inside job” and an employee there has something to do with our issue. There are too many things that do not add up.
If you do anything at all, at least swing by to ensure that the lock on your unit is in fact your lock.
If you are looking for a storage place… keep looking and DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
