7/2/25 UPDATE: June’s manager called me on 6/13. He was very kind and empathetic to the situation and said he would refund my charges. As of today, still no refund processed and I’ve called twice to follow up with no answer and no return call after leaving voicemails.
6/12/25: I've been a loyal Public Storage customer since 2017, most recently at the Dagget St. location, which used to be well-managed. Unfortunately, my recent experience was the complete opposite. I reserved a unit online and arrived to find the unit was not only on the second floor (with no mention of that during booking), but also water-damaged and significantly smaller than what I reserved. There were no carts available, so I was unable to unload my car, especially challenging with a young child in tow.
I spoke with a male property manager who was kind, apologized, and said I could cancel without issue the next day since I hadn't moved in. When I followed up by phone, I spoke with a woman named June who also claimed to be the property manager. She was incredibly rude, dismissive of the facility hazards, and told me I'd be charged the full month's rent anyway--despite never having used the unit. She offered no solutions except suggesting I pay double for a larger unit.
This location is filthy, poorly laid out, and unsafe with narrow driving lanes and no safety mirrors. The lack of carts and poor customer service only made matters worse. For anyone considering this location, I highly recommend the Sorrento Valley site instead--it's cleaner, safer, more affordable, and the staff are helpful.
June refused to escalate my concerns or process a refund, even though I never moved in. This experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and completely avoidable had this location been transparent or properly maintained. Management needs to take accountability.

I recently vacated my storage unit that had a 2 door access. I unfortunately broke the key in one of the locks and was not able to remove it. I spoke with Rob the district manager for where my unit is located in San Diego (Dagget Street) and he offered to cut the lock off for me at no charge and close out my unit account since I was not able to locate spare key! I really appreciate his willingness to help me out and I’m very grateful to his professionalism in this matter!!!! Thank you Public Storage for your clean and convenient space to allow me to store my stuff…. If you need a storage unit… go to Public Storage Dagget Street in San Diego,Ca!!!!!

I’m sharing this because I truly hope I can help someone avoid the pain I went through. I signed up at this storage place, lured in by the “first month half-off or free” offer. I rented a 15x13 unit for $156 a month and in less than two years, they raised it to $280.
My unit was a dark, lonely corner with no light, but the manager kindly let me use the overhead outlet. I was so grateful for that small kindness. But today, on my final day there, new staff came and told me I couldn’t use the light anymore.
I had to move all my things out, completely in the dark, surrounded by pests. I can’t explain how heartbreaking and exhausting it was it drained me emotionally and mentally.
Please, if you’re reading this, think carefully. We don’t need to carry so much extra stuff or pay extra bills every month just to store things we might never use again. Donate to the less fortunate, free yourself of that burden.
This company can change the rules anytime they want, and I just pray my story reaches someone even just one person and saves them from going through what I did. Hold on to what truly matters, and let the rest go

Stress free visit with Joe in the front office. Explained the procedures and walked me around the facility. He was real professional and takes his job very seriously. I'm happy to recommend this facility to friends and family.
Joe is completely biased and rude doesn’t communicate well and evicted me from here with only 48 hours to leave, mind you never bothered Joe or even got in his way no set of warnings only mean commands and was rude about it. if you’re not a pretty lady he will give you a hard time and when I was here he kept checking on me like a prison guard had zero privacy here. I have ocd and would clean my storage all the time and apparently you can’t clean your storage cause it’s considered “loitering”. No form of communication just strictly harsh commands with no warnings from Joe. He won’t confront the issue and resolve it and he always had his headphones on so you can never talk to him. Completely treated unfairly there’s a lot of people who hang around in there storage and work on projects and clean there storage as well and I’m the only person who got this treatment like this. Mind you never had an issue with Joe. Mike was seriously the man he will be missed. I hope to get this resolved with higher ups and not with David he was no help in this situation either was taking joes word for everything I had no say in this unfair situation
We were helped by Joe today, we made an appointment calling online and got in easily! He was very helpful and guided us through the process of getting a storage unit!
I’m going to keep it as simple as possible. They will try to somehow without breaking any laws steal from you in anyway they can. My example is: I moved everything out of my storage unit at the end of the month (Feb 28) . The next day (March 1) on the 1st of the month, when I show up to turn in the keys and locks which I ended up being able to keep, they try and charge me for the whole month because I was on the property trying to “close out” the storage unit at the beginning of the month. So they said I had to pay for a whole new month because I was a day late, Even though my storage was emptied out on the last day of the month the day prior. Be very careful when dealing with this storage unit. Now I will be fighting with my Lawyer so they don’t try to send this last month to collections, because believe me when I say I will not pay for it.
FYI- Miramar area has way better storage.

Bad bad bad. They said one price online and when I tried to reserve the space through the phone,they increased the price. after that they told me that it was no longer available. Went back online and the prices were increased by easily 25% more.call back and after 1 min They just hung up on me.I I didn't appreciate wasting my time like that .

Mike, property manager, has been tremendous over the years that I have had a unit at Dagget St.! He goes above and beyond to help his renters whether over the phone or in person! He brought my special needs son ice water on a hot day a few months ago when we moved units! Give him a raise Public Storage- his help has kept me from seeking storage elsewhere. And if you are considering Public Storage I highly recommend the Dagget St. location because of Mike and all he does to keep this location clean and safe as well as the amazing care/support he provides his renters! 5 stars!

Mike is wonderful, and my storage unit he helped me find is perfect and will suit all my needs. I thought I knew what I needed when I got there, but Mike gave me a few other options that worked to my favor so much better. I made the reservation online for a unit, everything went very easy from signing the document, choosing move in date, download the app, send you the code, get to unit and having the lock ready for me. There is only one issue that on that date the elevator is out of order. Luz helped me change to another unit located in another building right away and solved the problem for me. Thats the help we will always need from the office.
I must say with Mike and Luz are Doing a wonderful job holding down the property, making sure everything is ran correctly . Also able to give any other assistance regarding space rental Viewing spaces. They are definitely standup people and make sure experience at Public Storage on Dagget very welcoming . I went to go rent a storage unit and at first Luz and I missed each other. So I waited and left to go run some more errands. Luz gave me a call around 5:25pm and I explained I only lived less than 10 mins away if she was willing to wait for me to return so I can set up my storage unit/account. Great service and friendly staff, clean place. But we can never find a cart to move our things and often no one is available to answer the phone to help us. Kind of defeats the purpose of storing things if you then have to break your back to move heavy furniture out. Very frustrating. 🥺

I have 3 units and a parking space at this Public Storage and even though the prices are high and Iooked into moving to another storage facility I have decided to stay due to how professional this location is managed by the property manager Mike. He always greets me with a positive attitude and courteous demeanour every single time I see him. He is always working around the property keeping it clean and safe and you can tell he takes pride in his work.

It gets so expensive since they actively raise storage on your unit after a little while of being there which is a shame since id want to continue to keep my spot if they didnt have to keep raising units for whatever reason they do so for. (All storage units do this im sure so I just find overall a bit money hungry)

Manager Mike will lure you in with talk of how Public Storage is not as greedy as the rest of the storage places when it comes to a rent increase soon after move in but it's all lies. Within 5 months you're gonna get a notice that you have 30 days to move out or you're looking at a 30 percent rent increase which is about $4 per foot. They have the highest prices in this market after you just moved in under false pretense. Don't move your stuff into this nightmare of a business.
PUBLIC STORAGE is a HORRIBLE place!!! DO NOT rent here. Every year they will increase your rent. My 5X10 went from $98 to $228. I moved to U HAUL and got the same size for $124 and its CLIMATE CONTROLLED. Public storage don't even have any type of dolly to help you and their units are super hot. I am rating them a 0, zilch, zero, NO BUENO! The Manager Mike is horrible!

As others have already shared - Mike is a so friendly and helpful. Public Storage better realize how lucky they are to have such a professional employee. He is courteous, helpful and friendly. I had to visit my storage once or twice a day across several days. I was readying my belongings for move-out. On every single occasion the cart was at its storage spot. Do you know how much easier that makes moving boxes? It absolutely made my day to have one fewer challenges. Let's be real - moving is not fun, but I would select this storage location again simply because Mike makes that job that much simpler. He takes great care of the property and it shows. Bravo, Mike!!

Well, this place is as advertized. The workers are cool.
It comes without elevators or carts, for the most part. Fortunate to only need a small one that was discounted for 1 month free or 3 months at 50% off, I think, only if you pay online.
Not to bad for a 5 x 5.
I'm just sayin that they ould be much easier if they accommodated shelves , especially in the smaller units because I need them every time I do this. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sure out of all the units that default the materials to do this would be almost free. Even though they seem almost fully occupied . I know space is a commodity but they could be more service friendly and not gouge, in my opinion. I mean that if you are more than 10 days late, they lock you out.
EVEN THOUGH YOUR 20 DAYS EARLY BECAISE YOU ARE PAYING A MONTH IN ADVANCE, it makes it seem like a hostile takeover that I'm sure is on a thin line legally, but we don't do anything about it. It's not this place. They all do the same thing.

Edited. Mike was extremely friendly and helpful setting me up with the unit that fit everything I needed it to. He was happy to show me three different units to find one that had both the size and location requirements that I needed. I ended up renting the unit for about 3 months and I was satisfied when I moved out. My stuff was as dusty as you would expect it to be when you leave it sitting somewhere for three months and that was all. There was no damage and there were no unexpected pests. Mike was there to see me on my last day and was just as friendly when he wished my family well. If you need to rent A storage unit, I highly recommend you rent from here
I had to take away a star because nobody made it clear that once I pay for the unit for the month I will not be prorated if I close out early. Keep the unit until the end of the month if you end up having to pay for it for any reason. There is no reason to close out 21 days early because you're not going to get 21 days worth of money prorated. It's a storage unit. They're going to keep your 21 days of money and then rent the unit out as soon as possible to make 21 more days of money on the next person. It's business.

This storage spot was extremely convenient and easy to use. Not just because of the location (it is right off of 805 near the 163 & 15 as well) but the property manager Mike was always very helpful and present if you had any questions. He directed me to finding the app that makes entering and exiting the property a breeze since you don’t even need to leave your vehicle. The areas around and inside the buildings were kept very clean. And if you know where your unit is you should never have to travel far to move things in & out of it. If I need another storage unit again in the future I will definitely be back! Very dependable business and Ike is a big reason for that.

His customer experience is superb as he is very professional, and also quite personable. He is knowledgeable about the systems, willing to lend a hand, and looks to find ways to save you money. He also helped me with unloading a bulky piece of furniture and getting it up to my unit. He went above and beyond what I would have expected for support at a storage facility. I highly recommend.

Mike is a great addition to your team here. He has gone out of his way several times to help me with anything I've asked even helping set up the app which is great. The prior people that were here before Mike arrived never listened when I had a concern especially when the gate was broken at night and homeless people kept coming in. Mike has really cleaned up the facility and made it feel safe when I come here alone at night. He is always friendly and helpful ever time I come here and is sincere which is a great quality and not found often enough.

Mike at Public Storage on Daggett has been phenomenal. I came in from out of state to try and collect my fathers belongings. Mike went out of his way to ensure I could get access to my dads units during my short time frame. He also accommodated my challenging situation by being patient, and checking to make sure I was all set. He even showed me where the unit was, and worked with my availability as i maneuvered through my fathers things. Unpacking his unit went from being a stressful event to being a memorable experience (in a good way). Thanks Mike!

As a young person renting my first storage unit, I was really nervous about renting something for the first time and had no idea what I was doing. I requested a unit online. Amanda called me to introduce herself & offer any assistance needed. I met Amanda at the office on my move-in day & she was extremely thorough. Gave me a tour, explained the contract, showed me what supplies public storage has available, etc and was friendly. I would definitely recommend public storage to anyone looking for a storage unit

March 30 when I rec'd an unexpected notice that the cost of my unit would increase. Instead of being upset, Amanda's smiling, professional face was calming. She went out of her way to help find a nearby unit and actually help me move in mythings. What surprise. just what I needed to hear. I'm an 83 yr old senior with recent injury. So grateful to know she's overlooking my personal property. she's priceless!

The hallways are on motion sensor timers that are set to stay on quite a while which is nice. They are starting to watch the gate more now it seems so they are stopping any riff raff from coming in. The hallways are always clean including the driveway all the way around.😀But on the down side the rent increased and the hours the units are accessible has decreased. Makes it hard for the working person to get across town after work and get anything out of the unit before the 6pm closing time.
ROBERTO!!!!!! Amazing customer service. I came in to book a storage & wasn’t pleased with the size I booked online so he upgraded me & put me to a unit I was satisfied with. I’m pregnant so he complied with my needs & was concerned about my safety while moving in so he gave me a unit that was easier access for me . Gave me a tour & told me exactly what I needed to know . He’s personality is amazing & very welcoming !! I book storages all the time & by far this was best experience & customer service I ever received . Keep up the good work Roberto !!

Reserved my unit online a couple weeks ago and went in yesterday to see it and pay for it. Roberto helped me and he was so great, wore a mask the whole time which I really appreciated being 9 months pregnant. He made it so quick and easy. I really like that I can unlock the gate from my app! I always forget those crazy gate codes
Roberto showed me my unit that I will be renting on Monday. The property looks clean and well swept. Cameras all around the facility and pushcarts available. The orange doors are also webfree compared to the other storages I have been to have spider webs. NO SPIDERS HERE! 😡
Roberto IS THE MAN!!!! He just informed me of my lock not being locked properly. I HIGHLY recommend this storage facility to friends and family; or anyone looking for a safe and secure location. The manager always makes sure my things are secure and safe by doing his rounds daily as a good manager should! People writing bad review are probably the ones who are breaking policy and don’t know better. Keep doing a great job Roberto, thank you for everything you do for the property to ensure it stays secure and safe for us good customers.
