About Springfield
Springfield is a large city in Ohio's Clark County, located on the edges of the Mad River, Beaver Creek and Buck Creek. It's the hub of Greater Springfield and only about 25 miles from Dayton. Springfield was founded by James Demint in 1801, and in 1818, the city was designated the county seat of Clark County. The Kelly Springfield Tire Co. was created in 1894, helping expand the growing city. In the early 1900s, the city welcomed 10 different automobile companies, including Brenning, Bramwell and Westcott. The city was officially incorporated in 1913.
