The storage unit did not meet expectations. The insulation was falling from the ceiling of the unit, as we entered the unit. All of my belongings were covered with dust, dirt and insulation from the roof of the unit. When I alerted the property manager he simply told me the building was old and “it is what it is”. I would never recommend anyone storing any belongings in these units.

Mr. Keigan at Ambleside drive was really respectful and helpful in getting boxes for me even though I only used two boxes out of 30 he made it accessible that I was able to get my money back and only charged for the two boxes I used. I cannot recommend this company. Go somewhere else. [this review has been edited twice; the original review has been left intact, see the bottom of the review for the changes] Public Storage is a national chain based in California, offering storage units of various prices at below average quality and above average prices. The individual units are not climate controlled, but sit behind gates with personalized codes, and the staff is usually friendly and knowledgeable. However, their website is sub-par with a below-average interface, the online and call-in customer service is deplorable. Repeated attempts to rectify complaints have consistently fallen on deaf ears. The good: the storage units are exactly as advertised. The bad: over priced. Poor interface and online customer service. I've been renting a space from these guys for the better part of a year, and have had consistent problems since November. I have asked to have a supervisor contact me on over 30 occasions (to correct an issue with the payment portal), and have yet to have a supervisor contact me. Unless you just don't care (it is a storage company, after all), go somewhere else. Go pretty much anywhere else. [Edit #1] After nearly 6 months and nearly 4 dozen attempts at contacting a supervisor, today (May 3, 2022), I finally received a call. He apologized for the inconvenience, corrected my issue, and informed me that he had not received my complaint until now. The management seems helpful, if you happen to actually get in touch with the right person. [Edit #2] No, I've not always paid on time, but I've always paid, late fee included, before the cutoff date. However, my lock was removed and replaced before the cutoff date on several occasions. Further, the rent has not only increased by approximately 325% in one year, but we have been prevented from moving our belongings out on several occasions (the gates have been broken and/or locks changed on several occasions). During the most recent attempt to get our belongings (mind you, there was a zero balance on our account, and the date of attempted move out was prior to the first of the month), we discovered that they had cut our lock off yet again, and replaced it with their own. We were told we could cut their lock off ourselves as long as we didn't damage their property (we declined for fear of being accused of damaging their property), and were accused by the employee that was present of threatening him (5 witnesses stated otherwise), and we had to call the police for our own safety. The employee then denied that the lock (which had a Public Storage sticker on it and matched 7 other locks in the row) was the property of Public Storage. Go somewhere else. There are multiple, other, storage companies nearby, and they are all cheaper (and with better customer service).

I spoke with Jennifer at the Ambleside site where I already had a storage unit. Thanks to Jennifer, an issue I was having with my account and unit she got squared away without any issues this morning (3rd of April) around 10am. I had been having problems for a couple days and the staff on site that was covering for Jennifer was having system issues. I'd like to close with "5 Stars" isn't remotely enough to rate Jennifer overall. For her, infinity (stars) and beyond. Thank you Jennifer and Publix Storage.

I've lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years and I've seen the up and downs of this property. In the past its not something I would have recommended. I've had past experience at this property that would persuade me to do business elsewhere. I reluctantly went in to secure a space expecting the same BS I had experienced before, but was greeted upon entry with a plesant smile and kind words by an employee named Alexa. She took the entire experience and metamorphosized my perspective so much that I'm writing a review. Excellent customer service! Professional! Clean property! Easy, quick process. In and out. She even saved me 30 bucks on my storage unit. (Appreciate that one) All in all, the property has changed for the better, and I thank Alexa for helping me see that. As operations manager @ a local Columbus roofing company we have units located at many Public Storage locations for materials drop off after our builds, saving us the cost of a large commercial space. By far our north Ambleside location is one of our main "GO TO " locations . Jennifer has gone so far out of her way to make sure ANY concerns were taken care of ; from removing snow & ice piled in front of the roll up door so our access was not blocked & made sure their was salt down so we did not slip ; and yet again getting any concerns taken care of when one of the doors needed servicing ; she had it resolved in under an HOUR like immediately , after i called so we could keep our production flowing. Jennifer is by far , one of those dynamic types that makes her a GOLDEN ASSET !! to anyone that has dealt with her. I can tell you when it was 11degrees above zero outside , I watched her walking the grounds picking up debris and doing door checks and with a pleasant greeting despite the elements . As far as customer service , it just does not get any better in my opinion , the world needs MANY more Jennifers out there in the retail brick & mortar world

Just wanted to let the customers of the public storage facility on ambelside dr.....i had a unit there that was broken into and some stuff was stolen out of my unit ...the biggest problem was that they.. meaning public storage and the general manager... knew that units were being broken into and they didn't say anything to any of their customers...kept it quiet so that they could keep making a profit...so you outta give it some thought before you rent from this place

This is probably the best kept storage location around Schrock Rd . The people who work there are very friendly & easy to get along with as well . Doesn’t matter what time I’m on the grounds , Jenn is always making her rounds , picking up debris , or sweeping up front near the office entry , to make the place look nice . She has never failed to answer any of my questions and has more work ethic , than most 2 employees... stop by & see Jenn and her staff , to handle all your personal storage needs !

I rented a storage area in-between moves and signed up with Kathy who went far beyond the call and spent time explaining the ins and outs of how the process worked and took me over to the unit to show me how to use the lock and keypad. She was amazing every time I had questions and also in the check out process a few months later. I felt the experience was so efficient and helpful that our company decided to rent another storage unit in CA and she even supported me in navigating this. I can't say enough good things about this person who represents Public Storage in the absolute best light through her caring and knowledgeable attitude.

Super friendly. Was upset that the storage unit had all this fire proof stuff all over our stuff. But the lady was super understanding and gave us another storage unit that had a covered ceiling so our stuff wasn't getting covered with that stuff.

I was in need of a small unit for a few things to pack, and I had wonderful help from Whitney who was able to show me a few units and help me find the perfect one. So the next day I went in to do my lease for the unit I chose and I still had a wonderful experience with Whitney again, and also Kathy who was there. Moved out on a Sunday when they wasn't open cleaned my storage and left the door open so they could clearly see it was vacant 2 months later I received a bill from them stating I owed for the whole time I wasn't there call try to get it straightened out completely rude people they have no clue what they're doing I would not recommend this place

This unit was very convenient! I was only planning to be there for a month until I got my own place, ended up keeping it for 8 months and now I’m moving in with a new boyfriend. So you know how that tell you you should always listen to your wife? Well you should always listen to your wife and Kathy. Lol 3 months ago I thought the storage unit I picked out was fine but turned out I was the wrong size even though they both said it would be. She got us a unit that worked no problem. Then on to part two. When Kathy hands you that little card with your unit number and gate code and says don't lose it. You tell both your wife and Kathy you'll put it somewhere safe and boom the dog ate it. (Sorry boys I'm blaming you) She has no problem helping you out for a second time! As a person who also works in customer service, I would have to say Kathy is one of the best!

We got a unit and thought it would be perfect, however our items did not fit three days later when we tried to move in! Kathy was fantastic and worked with us to get us a unit our items fit into and made sure we were beyond satisfied! The customer service she provides is excellent!

One of my baby clothing totes was accidentally left behind outside of my unit and the staff graciously held onto it. I called the office with low expectations that they had it as I could not locate it and to my surprise one of the property managers, Kathy, had secured it. Thank you for that! Poor service from the office. Was somehow double booked on my reserved move-in time and was asked to reschedule the day I was supposed to register. Surprise charge for lock that was not mentioned when asking about total cost. Made use of the $1 first month, but a $20 move-in fee was added (okay, I guess), but was required to pay another $20 for the lock upon arrival. Registration takes WAY longer than it should; spent about 40 minutes signing and looking at the unit. Will stay until the end of the month, but moving to a new place after that. Unit seems clean enough for outdoor access, but no 24 hour access is annoying.

I felt like i had a good deal online its was $40 when i made reservations. When i got to the property i then find out its mandatory to have insurance on my unit. Walking out of there spending $60. Its important to add info to callers online. Other than that it was a great storage company.

During the rental process she kept doing her sales pitch of additional items and instead of waiting to see if I wanted the item, she just added it to my bill and I would have to ask her to remove it. I explained to her that I would only need the unit for a short while and she explained to me in detail how to vacate the unit and to leave it open when I vacate. Kathy was on her cart checking units in each row around 7-8pm and even waved to us in our uhaul truck right outside our unit when we were vacating. I swept the unit and left the door open exactly as she requested. The unit was vacated 8:30pm August 31, 2017 before the gates had to be manually closed at 9pm by Kathy due to the automatic gates being broken. Today 9/2/17 Kathy called me to say I am being charged for September 1, 2017 even though I was completely vacated the day before. She stated she didn't process the vacate paperwork on my unit until yesterday. Never did she state during the rental process that I needed to vacate and wait until she does the paperwork to be able to end the billing of my unit! She is a crook and a terrible representative of this company unless this is Public Storage's way of doing business!!! This needs to be made right and my account back to a $0 balance as I vacated the unit on August 31, 2017. I have left a message with Corporate and also filing a complaint with the BBB. I also left this exact reviews on their Instagram and Facebook pages and they blocked and removed the post. Don't trust positive reviews as it is clear they delete the negative ones! Besides the horrendous customer service, the unit itself was decent in size. I had a large unit that had two doors. They did have a pull string light fixture on each side however only one worked so it was difficult to see on the other side. I brought this to Kathy's attention to see if they had a maintenance person that could replace the bulb and she indicated it was probably the fixture itself and that she wasn't able to get it fixed. She did not even attempt to replace the bulb to see if that fixed it. Also, all of these storage units have what has the appearance of little pieces of insulation on the ceiling, that fall off onto your items and it gets everywhere and makes a huge mess. Kathy stated it's not insulation but it's like paper to help absorb moisture in the unit. When you opened the garage door to get in the unit hundreds would fall from the ceiling. I will never use this company again. There are way better storage facilities with better customer service!

I did not catch her name but the lady I worked with was very very nice and they even called me a couple days afterwords to see how my move in was!

The manager is never there..customer service is very rude. Would not recomnend.

I stopped by the Ambleside Dr. location about a week ago to get information on the storage units​ and pricing for my upcoming move. Bethany was working and was very personable which made the visit pleasent. She answered all my questions and then some. Bethany being very knowledgeable of the business along with her communication skills makes her a valuable employee.

Bait and switch. Don't believe your price. They get you in and then raise the price a few months later. My price has been raised over 40% in under 2 years.

I had a great experience cathy was very helpful. She help me find the right size unit for my needs. Very professional I did not have my lock on right she called me the next day I went over and she showed me how locket right. So far I have been pleased .

I strongly do not recommend using this storage facility. My husband and I stored our belongings here while moving to our new home. The property manager had us buy 2 locks for our doors, which we did, and she told us the other door to our unit was sealed. After a couple weeks they called us back to say the door wasn't sealed after all, only hard to open, and we needed to put a lock on it. However, when we went in we discovered our unit had been burglarized. We were devastated. Because of the discrepancy with what the property manager had told us about the door, we sought the district office's help in reclaiming some of the value of our stolen belongings. They said there was nothing they would do to help us. Personally, I have never dealt with such shady practices and lack of compassion for a family who was victimized. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. This incident- along with other poor business practices they operate under- will make them one of those companies you regret working with.
