Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1504 Austin Dr, Decatur, GA

I’m a customer at the Decatur Austin drive location I highly recommend coming in and personally dealing with Johnny. He was very helpful and pleasant. The customer service was definitely (A1) he deserves the raise . 🫶🏾

This place is disgusting!!! I did a online reservation on November 13, 2025 and went to look at the FIRST unit ( E064) on November 14, 2025, didn’t even move in it yet, and when I went it was in deplorable conditions. The walls are made of wood, and the wood is rotten(ing) real bad. There is a large hole the size a mouse can squeeze through, mouse droppings was everywhere! Nobody even attempted to clean out the unit, then have the audacity to leave my brochure and lock right next to that mess on the floor. I told Johnnie (the property manager) he was kind and said I’ll move you into another unit tomorrow. Okay cool. Tomorrow is here (11-15-25) and I went to go back. I went to my SECOND unit (C033) to check it out, and it was worse than the first one. I immediately knew this was gonna be a disaster cause there were mouse droppings outside the door. I still opened the door, there were no lights inside 🚩, I turned my flashlight on my phone, and OMFG!! There was mouse droppings in piles in every corner of the unit. Then once again, they threw my brochure and lock in mouse droppings. I was so heated I took pictures. Here comes Johnnie with his leaf blower and cleaning cart, he’s like “I see the disappointment on your face.” I said, “Sir, this unit is worse than the last one.” He went to go look and said the tenants that moved out didn’t clean up. There weren’t trash in there, it was mouse droppings!! So, apparently ya’ll have a rodent problem. He was about to use that leaf blower to blow the mouse droppings around. He huffed and puffed and said “so what do you want to do?” Well, I want my $30 fee back for starters. I also had to pay $1 to switch from one unit to another, he says I can’t get that back. Okay whatever. Just give me my $30 back. He said the exterminator was there 3 days ago. So, what did he do? — spray sugar water everywhere cause he definitely didn’t do his job. I’m glad I didn’t move my things in there cause I would have been pissed. They are both inside units too. They say it’s “climate controlled” but, it’s not controlled by a knob or thermostat… it’s controlled by the weather outside. Those inside units were freezing and technically still outside. They are attachments to the outside storage garages. The climate matches the outside climate, a person doesn’t control it 🚩….The pictures I’m gonna upload are from the second unit. I don’t got pics from the first unit cause I wasn’t thinking clearly. Clearly this a Public Storage doing because I had issues with y'all in South Carolina too the last 6 months until the beginning of November when I brought my things back to Georgia with ants, bugs, etc on a outside unit. Public Storage, do better. That is disgusting.

STORE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Easy and convenient place to store, however my sister’s storage and several other units were broken into, her valuables were stolen and ran sacked. Luckily she has insurance however it was a huge inconvenience as she was moving into her new home.

Do not rent here at all! This place has been horrible since I moved in. They will go up on the storage lockers without any notice. I moved into a new locker because the first one went up in price for no reason at all. They wanna say market cost but when I check other storage units in the area with that same locker size of course Public Storage is higher, so miss me with that bs. They literally said my locker is worth value. What value does that box have? Also why would that matter if im in the locker. What you gone sell it to someone else while im in it. Make it make sense. I repeat do not waste your time & money here!

Please buy insurance extra, rats chewed ,urine on most my things, manger didn't offers any discount, and not to mention the price continue to go up. Choose an business that care about your belongings some things I lost i cant replace ,This was very sad 😞

After having a horrible experience next door I came to Public Storage and was blown away. I decided to go into the office and ask about looking at a downstairs unit and the friendly helpful service I received blew me away. I feel like my stuff is secured and the friendly staff add to that. Unit was clean and no walls had been re-boarded up which was a plus!

Off the main roads so the only thing to worry about is the rain, rats, and heat. Most units are inside so the climate is mildly controlled. Updated entry into property with their app. It's a great thing unless your phone doesn't want to cooperate since that's the only way in. Nice manager. Well kept property for the most part. Only seen rodents once when they ate through the electric and water lines on my washer and dryer. I alerted the management. Last time I was there, there were post control traps around as there should've been consistently. My only complaint is that when I did call them and told them that there were mics everywhere. Their response at first was, call the insurance company and file a claim... and I was questioning this as to why not tell you so you can take care of the rodents because The insurance companies now got to take care of the pests. It wasn't just my unit it's every unit but anyway they took care of it. Also they raised the rent all the time but they don't tell you but then they put out advertisements for lower rent than what I'm paying all the time. I was like why am I paying $250 a month when it says online that unit 10x10 should be $61 a month? That's a big difference. They will occasionally help lower it but they don't. I mean the manager can only do so much and I'm very thankful for that. However, corporate should rectify this on an ongoing basis, or stop raising the rent randomly without a Fair market reason or without it actually being other than corporate greed . It's hard to get in touch with customer service because you have to do everything through the app and there's an AI chat which is not good at all at all. Forget about emailing them because when they email you it's a no reply email address. So emails are out and if you call the number that's on the app, you don't get anywhere. To get the right phone number, I had to ask the local manager because they don't advertise it. He was kind enough to give it to me because he said that I should reach out to them and see if they can lower my rent cuz he can only lower it by so much himself. He said that customer service, corporate customer service, had the power to do more but I had to call them myself and it's a number that is not on the app, so where would the average customer get it?..., but he works for them and was nice enough to pass it along. So hopefully now that I have the number I can call them and get the rent lowered to match what others are getting the same size for. That's crazy to have that much discrepancy in what I'm paying and what the market value for that size unit is actually currently worth. So why does the rent go up all the time but the actual value of the rental doesn't? confusing and I wish they would address that on a corporate level because it's not local. Other than that, it's a really great place to store your stuff. It's well kept and well maintained. The manager is very polite and helpful. Sorry for the long story but the corporate side is the problem.

Don't go here no matter what. Apparently no one wants to do their job because an hour after opening no one is here and customer service won't answer phone calls when I need assistance. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

I received excellent service today. When I expressed my concerns, they were address professionally, courteously and efficient.

Their lawncare service blew all the cuttings and garbage out into the road. It is not only a mess but a safety hazard for ayone on 2 wheels. Get your money back and make your lanwncare company clean it up.

I had an exceptional at the Public Storage facility on Austin Drive in Decatur Ga and if at all possible the young man who assisted me today should be considered for a substantial raise. Keep up the good work.

When they say "climate controlled" what that actually means is "inside". They do not maintain or monitor the temperature whatsoever, so your property is very susceptible to damage which you have no recourse on. Do yourself a favor and go to a mom-and-pop company in the same area instead.

I had a problem with having a second floor unit and needed a ground unit because I have very heavy and bulky furniture. Nicole was great!!! She switched the unit and we only had to pay the difference for the larger ground floor unit. Very courteous and helpful.

Was originally scheduled for another location but discovered at the last minute there was only access till 6pm and I needed the latest time. Along the way I did encounter a very rude person in customer service but the all changed when I decided to go on my own to the Austin Dr. location where things changed for the better. Nicole was very helpful and knowledgeable of the size I needed also very patient,understanding,and listened to me when I was already upset from the customer service phone call. All I had to do was tell Nicole what I had and once I brought the items back everything fit with some space to spare and the price was very reasonable. Thanks again for going above and beyond something I don’t see very often in my community.
