Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 5175 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA

When I need storage this is the place I go to. Sheila has always been kind and helpful. She keeps the place clean and takes pride in the place.

This place doesn't deserve an update of my previous review, rather a whole new one, so here it is. Come to find out that after all the heat for my things being gone from storage when it was with a lock they put in, the manager still works here. I'm going to investigate things on my own and get to the bottom of how and where and who took my things. From reading other reviews sounds like their cameras aren't even plugged in. However, no sign of break in and the site manager definitely had keys to these locks on her when I went to regain possession of my units. So even after knowing that the process they advertised to me (only regional manager has keys and he's not on site) wasn't followed, no measures were taken to fix the problems.

Sheila at 5175 Pacific Highway Public Storage location is very professional, helpful and responsive to questions that come up about our storage space. She keeps the location clean and running smoothly. If she isn't available immediately, she returns calls as soon as she is available. The storage space, in general, is all first floor and easily accessible. Thank you Sheila!

*** update**** The actual staff there are great! Had I gotten ahold of them instead of the customer service line I would have left a much happier customer! The property manager was very understanding and very willing to help and empathize with my experience. Once she knew about the situation she immediately wanted to investigate to make sure the facility is secure and safe for all! They hired the correct kind of people! I’m honestly shocked people love the location in other reviews. I liked it was near fiesta island but in 3 weeks of being there I ran in to a women and an officer who had her storage broken in to, and when I was going to drop some things off like a week and half later there was a man literally exposed peeing in the middle of the drive area there. I would not recommend if you are a woman and alone cause there is no security and public storage customer service basically just told me to move out when I mentioned this. So I’m taking my money to a completely different storage company cause wow. (This is not the staff at the facility they were great from my few encounters)

Sheila always took care of me recently I I had a vacate the property and just having a real tough time with situations in life, Sheila made my day a lot better and I appreciate her and the people that work here and this place is clean. Rating a storage facility 5 stars feels odd. But I can't think of anything to rate it lower. It's clean. The location is convenient for me. I got an outside unit cheaper than what I was paying for an indoor unit at Price storage further north. So this place is perfect. There is an app to open the gate. I always fat finger a number of two when forced to use the pad. My nails make hitting the star key in the corner almost impossible so I appreciate being able to avoid that. The place is clean, staff is helpful and the physical layout is well thought out. Two trucks are able to pass each other in the aisles. I hate that I'm still not living in my forever home that will have room to hide my things, but glad they are at home at public storage for now.

Easy access storage, nice and clean facility. Ku was an incredible help, and got me the best unit for my needs.

Sheila was absolutely incredible getting me set up with my storage unit. She made everything quick, hassle-free and helped Evaluate the space needs for the furniture that I had. I went during my lunch break, and it was incredibly fast and easy. I’ve now started to move all of my stuff in and she even came over to check on me. She’s an incredible staff, and this is a great place to utilize. 10/10 recommend.

i’ve been a customer of public storages for years now. i’ve always liked the combination of affordable prices and tough security. i’ve never had a problem that wasn’t handle right away by staff. sheela makes me feel right at home, she is easy to get a hold of and seems attentive to what i need as a storage unit customer. i definitely suggest this public storage to keep your items safe

Rude, has rats, closes early. Fix your hours, honestly 5 is way too early to close when your job is just sitting for most of it.

Easy access and really great staff. The manager, Sheila, went out of her way to help me. My car battery died and she let me use her personal jumper cables to restart my car. Great experience.

Since I am not getting anywhere over the phone or with your chat here it is. To management: I used to rent from your location on Pacific Highway. I am not the person who likes to stir things up, yet the issue I am about to bring to your attention has had me lose sleep over it. For a while I was not able to pay on time and in full for my storages, but always attempted to put something down with the hope that my belongings would be safe, AKA not be sold. I was never told a sale started while I made partial payments. When my locks were removed/cut out I was surprised by the methods as my previous experiences with almost losing my storage units were different. I didn't question the issue too much then as my storages were never officially sold. However, I would now like to know if some of my belongings were in fact sold while I did not have access to the units. ??? The reason I want answers after a whole month of terminating my business with Public Storage, is because I have finally gone through all my boxes that were stored and I am missing several items. When I regained possession of my storages, the manager accompanied me to the units. Unlocked them and swung open the door to look inside. I was appalled by this action to the point that when I was leaving the facility, I stopped by the office and inquired about her behavior. She replied "it is standard procedure to look inside the units and make sure that everything is in order". Everything? What exactly? The inside of the unit should not be of her concerns. And if there was a problem, leak, or else, shouldn't it be my responsibility to report it? When I walked in one of the units I felt something was not right. Initially, I did not realize items were missing as I would come and go from storage with things while I still had access, yet I know I stored specific things after my last trip before losing access. Furthermore, these units are the only ones I was using while homeless and some of those items had sentimental value to me. Of course I have no proof that my belongings were taken by the property people and I am not expecting my belongings back. However, I do want to bring this up because of how disappointed I am with the unprofessionalism and lack of tact of the property manager (on several occasions) as well as the attack on my sense of safety and emotional health on the part of said person. Person who should take part in protecting my property while I already have no roof over my head, and who broke that trust by taking my items with the assumption I would not regain possession of the units prior to them going up for sale. There are tons of spiders in my unit that have migrated into all my stuff. Also, they’ll evict you with no warning. They have electrical outlets in the units, but if you use them, you’ll get evicted, yet there is no sign or sticker saying you can’t use them. If you leave 1 minute after 9pm you’ll get evicted. They jack the price up 2 or 3 months after you move in. The lady thought I was loitering when I was organizing my stuff to make more room. And they’ll evict you if they think you’re loitering. Let this be your warning. Other than that it’s a decent storage facility. The app where you can simply open the gate from your phone without leaving your car is the best part that stands out about this facility.

While I occasionally have mixed reviews about Public Storage, Sheila's customer service is pretty top notch. She even called me on a Sunday to make sure my concern was fully addressed.

Absolutely the worst security possible from a storage facility. The facility is secure, and does not appear to be in a high traffic area. yet the crime ate, homeless population and more makes this a STAY AWAY facility. My trailer was broken into within 24 hours of being parked, and they offered ZERO assistance, compassion or responsibility. Security cameras are all off line... UPDATE: 9/27/2023 I've received several, direct and unsolicited phone calls from Public Storage Corporate telling me my 10 year old review is no longer valid, and that my review is costing their managers their performance bonuses. I was originally receptive to their explanation as to how they have changed (at that facility) but after the numerous phone calls I'm standing firm. Their calls were about them, and they were still not concerned whatsoever about my $3000 loss at their facility, even 10 years later. So my 100% honest and factual review is now MY FAULT? Um.. no. I continue to NOT BE A FAN of Public Storage. Read and understand that Corporate.
