Nestled in the center of Long Island, Hauppauge is a census-designated community in Suffolk County located about 45 miles east of New York City. Around 20,000 people reside in the hamlet, whose borders lie within the towns of Islip and Smithtown.

Just outside Hauppauge you can explore the great outdoors at Connetquot River State Park Preserve and Caleb Smith State Park Preserve for its nature trails, fly fishing the Nissequogue River, and bird-watching. Avid golfers have numerous options for playing a round close by. Day trips to Sunken Island State Park on Long Island Sound to the north, or Jones Beach and Fire Island National Seashore on the Atlantic Ocean to the south are just a few options for enjoying surrounding waters.

Hauppauge Transportation

Hauppauge's excellent transportation infrastructure ensures easy travel within and outside the hamlet. Long Island Expressway/I-495, Northern State Parkway, Nesconset Highway/Smithtown By-Pass, and Veterans Memorial Highway run through or just outside its borders. Suffolk County Transit provides local bus lines. And nearby Long Island Railroad stations are in Central Islip, Brentwood, and Smithtown.
