I left some college items here over the summer so I could move home to Pennsylvania for a few months. When I got back I was surprised to find out that my “climate controlled” unit was 90°, humid, and smelled like mold. Rats had also eaten through many of my boxes and destroyed some of my things. There was rat poop and pee covering the unit and even in a lot of my boxes. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures inside the unit, where the insulation was falling from the ceiling (probably due to the rats). However, you can clearly see the droppings on the cushion in the last picture.
The customer service representative I spoke with to purchase this storage was great, but I will never leave my things here again. I left my dorm items here over the summer thinking my unit was “climate controlled”. When I returned I had a mildewed futon full of baby spiders, mildewed boxes of decorations, and a mildew filled microwave. All of these things were completely clean when I left them there in May. Thankfully I paid the extra for insurance every month, but the climate control feature is A LIE!
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Don't waste your money here. They ARE NOT CLIMATE CONTROLLED!!!! And they will NOT refund your money when you have paid online and show up to a run down, no air running, insulation falling off the walls unit. It was hot, muggy, and smelled moldy. Unit also did not have a light in it. The manager, Kyle, will never answer after you've paid (he answered every call before paying). It was not worth $10 let alone the $160 I paid for something worse than my attic. Vacated the next day and I get $0 refund for a falsely advertised service. As far as I'm concerned, It's a SCAM to get an easy $160, and their Customer Care Line doesn't care about any of it.

*After voicing my experience and dissatisfaction publicly, Public Storage has done the right thing and refunded my money. I will at least give them this, they came through in this way at the very least. I will adjust my rating to 2 purely because they did the right thing in refunding me my money.
Our unit they gave us was full of fire ants, then we paid for climate controlled and the unit wasnt. If I could give no stars I would. I am having to sit on the phone trying to get a refund because this is a remote site and they are not able to do it.
Anna was wonderful. Took me to see the unit which was clean. Helped me set up the app and got us ready to roll. No issues of falling insulation as I've read on other comments.

HORRIBLE customer "Service". They'll harass you to book a reservation and as soon as you do, you magically can't get in touch with anyone. I've been on hold over an hour with customer service, but sales will answer in less than a minute easily. As soon as I express dissatisfaction, customer service disconnected the call. The property manager doesn't answer. This is all remote access, essentially as in no one works on site, but you can't access your unit at any time? I was told I was getting a climate-controlled unit. Surprise, NONE of these units are climate controlled. It is mis advertised. I even went to the Grelot location beforehand to meet with an associate, since none work at Hillcrest, and it was reiterated to me that it would be a climate-controlled unit at Hillcrest. The location is NOT mover friendly, at all. It's very uphill and the roads are caved in. Very hard for a large truck to access and turn around. The mover's told me they always damage their vehicle at this location. I am glad I had a 10x20 because the other sizes entry way is smaller than a regular door and there is no way my items would get through that space; I am not sure how anyone's does. When I got there and realized it is not climate controlled, of course I can't get in touch with anyone. My movers are paid by the hour. Overall, very frustrating experience. I would NEVER recommend Public Storage or use them ever again.
