Terrible facility. Dirty, unsafe, and poorly managed.
I would strongly recommend avoiding Public Storage on Ashley Road. The entire property is in disgusting condition—filthy driveways, trash scattered everywhere, and a clear lack of maintenance. It looks completely neglected from the moment you drive in.
The units themselves are in horrible shape. Ceilings are literally falling apart, with debris dropping into the units. It’s not just inconvenient—it’s a safety hazard. It’s shocking that they’re allowed to continue renting out spaces in this condition.
On top of that, customer service is awful. If you bring up concerns about the property or your unit, the staff just repeat the same canned responses and hide behind rigid "policies" rather than taking any accountability or offering real help. There's zero care for customer experience or safety.
This place is a mess—unsafe, unprofessional, and not worth your money. Look elsewhere.
No code to door to get in storage
Edited 6/10/25: When I booked the unit, I was assured there were dollies available for use. Apparently that is not the case, and I now have to rent my own. The communication at this location leaves much to be desired.

Edited 6/5/25: The district mgr followed up and was apologetic, courteous and professional. He resolved the issue and was extremely helpful. Hopefully the move-in goes smoothly as well.

Left multiple messages with manager to confirm POD delivery - no call back. Tried online chat at 3pm on weekday - the bot told me to try back during business hours. Is it possible to speak with anyone?
I'm a long-time renter at 1508 Ashley Rd, Charlotte, NC. On one of my visits to my storage unit, I was met and greeted by employee Robin. I have to admit that that was the first time an employee was so warm and welcoming. That type of greeting was a welcomed change to my experience there.

THIS PUBLIC STORAGE LOCATION IS A DUMP! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED WITH PUBLIC STORAGE.i used them before years ago, and while it sub par at the time, it is officially the WORST. The grounds were filthy and I called customer service several times because they have no on-site staff according to what I was advised. Only once did someone come to clean up. I got hung up on by a so-called manager when I was trying to get my bill straightened out and had to file a complaint with customer service about it as well. If it had not been so convenient to my temporary stay location and a hassle to move my belongings, I definitely would have NOT have stored there for four months.

Would never recommend this place. I had no choice at the moment I rented the unit, which was dirty. It had roof leaks. And gaps on the walls. If you care about your belongings, don't. Rent there, and if you want to complain, they never answer anyway

My brother made a reservation to see and get a unit. The day came when he was suppose to meet her there and she left a voice mail message and canceled, 2 hours before. He has to have all his things moved by the next day. This was a sign what would come with this company. No thanks! UPDATE:
my brother did make another appointment for 2 days later. He showed up at the correct time and Ms. Tina never came or even called. He called the 1-800 number and was told she was at home. Is this any way to operate a company? There were 2 other future customers there to get units as well. This makes me wonder, how are company that operates this way can have a rating of 4.7?
No one is ever in the office this is ridiculous I've been to the property serval time and can never get assistance onsite... you need to hire someone else

I went with this place since it has so many 5 star reviews, but i don't get it. I have had a terrible experience. My unit was locked with some blue lock on the day i was meant to move in and management has been completely un responsive. I went by today and found my unit unlocked, but it's completely infested with ants (hard to tell from the picture but look at the wall). I have left 4 or 5 voicemails and have not heard back. I do not recommend.
Tina runs a nicely kept facility, is extremely friendly and helpful with helping me figure out pricing and which unit best suited me. I highly recommend this location!

Very easy process and safe area
After purchasing several units at auction Tina worked with us to gain access and was responsive, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. After a second auction, the property manager Daisy was onsite at her location buy the office was locked and phones were not answered. Tina resolved the issues and gave us an extension since neither the property no district manager was responsive.

Luster the manager is very rude! Customer services is a zero here! Front counter reps was nice ! Waited over 30 mins to be refunded my money! He didn’t apologize my contact wasn’t completed the correct way wasn’t able to enter my mileage and they over Charged and didn’t apologize told me it was on me I would be okay!

These ratings are paid for . You put a bad review and they call you with promises for a free month of service to change your rating. I picked my stuff up after they went up on the monthly rate . I couldn’t believe the expected someone to pay 75$ for a small unit WITH ROACHES . Yes I had to throw away lots of stuff due to finding roaches . Do yourself a favor and go else where . The uhaul place next door would probably be better .
