Clean property, very happy with the service received from Hector.

Long term storers beware. Public storage is extremely aggressive with their price hikes. Within 3 months of moving my things in, the price shot up $120. The intention is being complacent renters to just accept the price rather than deal with moving out. Getting the property owner on the phone took 6 days of leaving voicemails. Once I spoke to the owner finally, he stated “I should be happy, as it was still a good rate” and “he could attempt to put in a request however I would have to pay for the new rate first” this is a terrible way of doing business and refuse to give them any money more than the initial agreed upon amount.

This review is way overdue. I would like to write a review for a Public Storage employee named Alec located on Veterans Road in Staten Island. He is the best. He is so helpful and he is an asset to your company!!

I started renting a storage unit with Public Storage in March, paying an initial rate of $146 per month. Within six months, my rent jumped to $203, with no prior notice or any transparency about future increases. I had to get a storage facility after moving out of my apartment, and this price hike has added unexpected stress. When I asked about the potential for future increases, all I was told was that rates are driven by “supply and demand,” but no one could explain why rates have increased so dramatically or what to expect going forward. Nothing in the paperwork mentioned these possible price hikes. I would have at least appreciated a heads-up about when my rent could go up again, but they offered no empathy or helpful answers. To make matters worse, they didn’t update the new amount on their app, so I now have to pay in two separate installments, and the due date is also incorrect. Despite my complaints, they didn’t seem to care. My advice: Do not use Public Storage. The low introductory price is misleading, and it will likely increase within a few months with no warning. You might be paying far more than expected within your first year. To anyone considering Public Storage, think twice—you’re likely signing up for a hassle and unpredictable costs.

Light has been broken in the hallway of my unit since I moved my stuff in, despite multiple requests to have it repaired. Having a storage unit in a pitch black hallway is not only a functional/logistical issue, but a safety and security issue as well. UPDATE: Within a week of making this review, the light was finally fixed!

Highly recommend Public Storage on Veterans Rd based on customer service alone. Alec was eager to be helpful and patient to my situation accommodating me as best as he could. As an existing customer for 4 years I left there today in a much better as when I walked in in regards to my storage.

Recently started using this storage location, Hector’s customer service was outstanding. He provided me all the details I needed to rent a storage unit, and reassured me of the service I will be getting with this company. So far so good 🤞🏽

My sister and I had a great experience at the Veterans Road facility. We had stopped by on Sunday and the gentleman working answered our questions. He showed us on the first floor one unit. He explained the options. When we came back on Monday, the lady guided us through the process and showed us how to come in and where we could get the dolly when needed.

Hector is very helpful

We have been at this location for a year and a half. We just moved out and went up the block to extra space. We need a facility that will be accommodating to long term renters. We will be using this for at least 5+ years and we can’t have our rent go up every 3 months. We started out our price was under $100. After all the raises in a year and half we were at $266 for a 5x 15 unit which isn’t huge. They have no hand carts available or really anything for the customer. Extra space has multiple dolly & hand carts available to use free of charge. Trying to get a hold of anyone at public storage is impossible. I called & left 2 messages asking for a call back about our move out date. Today I get a call saying we need to be out by 6 and the storage unit left unlocked. Just the entire process from start to finish has been poor communication which is a shame because it was convenient for us and our unit was on the ground level.

Clean and safe place to keep my stuff. I stopped by earlier today for some assistance with my lock because I couldn't get it closed and the lady there was so helpful. Update: Will definitely store again of needed.

Spacious units. I have one there. It's easy to open one. You could do it online without having to see anyone. I found out the hard way, unfortunately. That's something they need to fix. They allowed someone to open an account in my name and gave me the run around for well over a month about it. I do not know the due date, costs or any other relevant information to properly even address this. Getting anyone on the phone or in person to rectify this has been a headache. I haven't seen anyone in the office for over a week. I believe whoever is suppose to be in the office just hang out in a space right above office. I heard a dog barking I think. And you could see a glow from a computer monitor or TV. I would recommend renting elsewhere if you had the choice. The property is managed greatly. They leverage technology. Cameras, access codes, motion sensors. But they leverage it a little too much in my opinion. The phone number leads to an offsite customer service call center. When you call the number, you get passed off to multiple people that aren't able to help. Eventually, you get tired off going around in circles with them. Unfortunately, their customer service and business ethics is non-existent.

Started with an issue, but them things started to go smooth. Will return.
