The History of Parker

Parker's history began in 1860, when a one-room shack from Pine Grove was moved to Cherry Creek to serve as a stage stop. The shack expanded to a 10-room inn and a community was built around it, eventually evolving into Parker. The town was named after James Sample Parker, a key figure in the town's history. Parker bought the inn in 1874 and added a blacksmith shop and general store to the facility, later building the town's first school and encouraging the construction of roads, ditches, telephone lines and the Denver and New Orleans Railroad in the area. In 1981, Parker was officially incorporated, and it has been growing exponentially ever since.
