Public Storage added 47 locations in a single day as part of a commitment to add orange doors wherever they’re needed most.
The handsome buildings of classic brick, tidy stucco and architectural flourishes complement existing locations in our Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets. The additions bring our total in the area to 163 storage facilities.
“We had a lot of drive-up units,”; said Nate Klippenstein, a vice president who oversees the areas. “But now we can balance it out with more climate control so the customer has more options.”;
Founded in 1972 with a single property, we have expanded over the years to more than 2,500 locations nationwide, growing through a combination of new construction, acquisitions, and conversion of historic buildings to storage.
In this case, we bought some of the best storage units in the best neighborhoods, from a great storage company, ezStorage.
“If there is an area you want to live in, they have property there,”; said Michael McGowan, a senior vice president on the Public Storage real estate team and a key player in negotiating the deal. “They built properties that are basically irreplaceable.”;
The Public Storage additions stretch from Baltimore through the Capital Beltway to Virginia. They run the gamut from locations adjacent to the nation’s capital, to suburban locales with pre-revolutionary histories and classic architecture.
“We’re very happy to welcome them into our Public Storage family. We have the same values on how to take care of our customers,”; said McGowan.
For current customers, and those looking for storage, our teams have worked behind the scenes to ensure customers are happy.
“It’s a beautiful day here in D.C., and the team is excited now that we’re open,”; said Klippenstein.
