The History of Midfield

Midfield originally attracted settlers because of its proximity to natural springs. The first European settler in Midfield was Williamson Hawkins, a relative of Davey Crockett, and he arrived in the late 1820s. Over the years, the springs became a popular recreation spot for residents and visitors alike. When railroads came to the area, it made it easier for visitors to come to the springs and they helped the town grow and evolve. The town was officially incorporated in 1953. Over the years, Midfield has continued to grow but still stays true to its identity as a small, family-friendly community.

Living in Midfield

Midfield is a great option for those who want to live close to a city but still have the small-town feel. It's only about eight miles from Birmingham, making it an easy drive for entertainment, dining and shopping. Because Midfield has a fairly moderate climate, it's easy to take advantage of its many parks and outdoor recreation options.

The High Ore Line Trail is a local favorite, providing extensive trails for walking, running and cycling. Or you and your family can take advantage of the numerous classes and recreational groups provided by the city. School District Information

The Midfield City School District manages the public schools. Students have a variety of opportunities, from sports and arts programs to advanced classes.

Although there are no colleges or universities in Midfield, the easy commute to the nearby cities of Fairfield and Birmingham makes it easy to work toward your degree.
