Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 11199 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA

This location doesnt have any carts! We incurred cost to move items out of storage and there is not ONE SINGLE CART! Paying $200 a month and can’t even move my things! Absolutely RIDICULOUS!

There are NO carts. I have disabilities and my storage is on 4th floor. How the hell am I supposed to get my things in & out of storage!? Heard people were holding the carts in their storage locker and stealing them. Find who is doing it & press legal charges for theft. Then get more carts. Hold a credit or debit card on the cart. If cart is not returned, charge their card. If the cart is returned, no charge. People are so rude, selfish and common these days. Just makes me sick. It's like going to the grocery store to get groceries with no cart available. ALDI makes u put in a quarter yo get a cart..... Start holding people's credit/debit cards while they use the carts. NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY AT THIS POINT WITH NO CARTS.

Clean facility but they have one cart. ONE CART! Someone the other day mentioned that customers are hoarding the carts in their storage units. I’ve called them twice but no one has called me back. That was weeks ago. They must get complaints all the time yet they have only had one cart available for at least 3 months. They have done nothing to solve the issue (either tracking down the people who hoard the carts or get more carts). They get $250 a month from me. I shouldn’t have to wait an hour to bring stuff to my cart because I have to wait for the three people who are waiting before me. BUY MORE CARTS PUBLIC STORAGE! Don’t rent a unit here until they get more carts. **Here now on 8/19/23. STILL NO CARTS. UNBELIEVABLE! Have people sign them out to use them. This is ridiculous.

Yousif was super helpful and he literally saved my unit , since I forgot to lock my unit and Yousif secured it and called me to come and lock my unit.

I rent for my company storage and it’s close to my house. Few months later I found this and, I can tell that there is nest for these rats. How property manager handle this issue was like just swap and pick up… seriously?? It seemed normal for him and there was nothing he can do about this. I tried to contact regional manager or even customer service and none of them contact me back..

Do not use this facility unless you want mice in all your items. I went to retrieve something out of my locker and saw a mouse scurry away. There were droppings everywhere. Decided to move my things to another facility closer to my house, and when I did, I found dead mice and others still alive running around my unit. The management knows of the problem, but said they couldn’t do anything about crediting my account. They seemed indifferent which was so frustrating. Do not at all recommend.

Was great until only few months after renting, my rent has increased $45. I will take my stuff out of there and look somewhere else. It was nicer when not owned by public storage. Scamming people with all the fees and rent increases. My unit is climate controlled but last few months its extremely hot in the storage unit building. I feel my stuff is going to get mildew/mold if they keep doing this with the air. I pay for climate control but yet I dont feel the air is even on in the building.

I just want to take a moment to say how much I appreciate the customer service provided by Ram today. Yesterday upon visiting my locker I realized it was too small. Today I was greeted with a walk to my new locker and a request to place the company lock on my old locker once I retrieved my personal lock. The process was easy, my pervious balance was credited and now I have the room I need to begin storing my items. Thank you Ram!

His patient, knowledgeable answers to my many questions about the unit and contract reassured me that I was doing business with the right place. The unit is secure and spotlessly clean. Today it was 97 degrees outside and the climate-controlled space was cool and comfortable. Kudos to Public Storage on this well-run facility.

I initially moved my items in for a deployment to Iraq. Now they are charging $378 per month for a 10x10. No military discount, and they keep raising the monthly fee, rather than let’s say appreciating the long term business. Once while I was deployed, they said my credit card was rejected and they were going to remove my materials. What was I supposed to do from overseas? Fortunately we resolved the clerical error after several phone calls. In any event, I’m actively seeking new, better locations for storage.

Automatic interior lights could be faster to turn on but honestly it's a self storage facility. You know what you're getting.

First I would like to say the location is highly convenient. I currently live in fairfax not far from this location. This one point caught my attention. I was never really into the public storage idea. Now with the amount of belongs my wife and I had while moving we really didn’t have a choice. They’re many storage options to choose from this was quite overwhelming at first, but thanks to Keana. Everything was broken down for us. From the sizes we need to reasons behind purchasing the insurance. I like how nothing was left in the dark while answering my questions. Just off that sign of trust I recommed this site. We all know now a days faculties have many dark doors left unexplained. This is not one of them. So thanks again Keana for the detailed run down!

Location is excellent, providing convenient and safe access. The entire facility is very clean, well-lit, and well-maintained. Plenty of room in front for loading and unloading. I feel very safe both inside and outside the building. Thank you for everything Public Storage.

Clean facility, easy access. Only things I didn't like is they make you get insurance. I'm not sure if my homeowner's covered my stuff but I guess it covers them if it burns down. Then they make you purchase lock from them, which you keep when you leave. This to me makes no sense. At lastly, I suggest you go there and measure the unit they show you. I paid for a 10'x10' unit. Which actually is 9'3"x 9'10". So if you need a specific size you my need to adjust. I guess unit size that's advertised is for show.

This is the second time I’m using this Public Storage. I feel confident about my furnishings being stored here as it’s secure and in a great location that’s open/viewable from its surroundings. It was nice to see a familiar face when I went there today, two years from the first time I rented a unit. Christian is still there providing excellent customer service. I highly recommend this particular Public Storage location! Oh! And it’s kept clean! That’s a biggie for me.

Thank you, Public Storage on Waples Mill Road in Fairfax, VA! Over the last two years, my mother rented a storage unit for furniture and keepsakes from my grandmother. In the last three months, my mother and aunt would periodically sit on my grandmother’s couch in the rented storage unit and would determine what items went to family members and what items should be donated. They have just completed that process. Public Storage offered them a clean, easily accessible, affordable, and safe environment in which to do this work. Of course, it was bittersweet going through my grandmother’s things, but Public Storage was wonderful! The professional staff was outstanding, helping them at first to determine the right size unit, keeping them up to date on when bills were due, but most importantly they were always friendly and helpful. The staff greeted them with smiles and a kind word. In particular, one staff member named Christian was fantastic! They were not the only ones who appreciated Public Storage. Sometimes other renters would pass by and they would share a quick word. Everyone would agree they were lucky to find this particular storage unit. We highly recommend this facility!!

My mother and I moved here from California and were in need of a storage unit. Walked in to this location with no appointment it was also close to closing time and Christian greeted us as soon as we walked in. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Glad we found this location.

I was a long time customer of this facility and recently moved all of my stuff out. I didn't move out because of the facility - I moved out because I moved a couple years ago and the facility is not close to my new house. My honest assessment is that the people there are extremely nice and helpful. The facility is starting to show a little age, but it's still OK for a storage unit. No real complaints about the facility itself. A suggestion would be to just freshen it up a little. My only real complaint is that about every 18 months they hike your rent considerably. After a few years of this, you'll be paying a LOT more than when you started renting. If you are just planning to rent short-term, you should be OK. If you are planning on staying for a year or more, watch out. I'm not sure if all of these storage places are like this - I can only speak from my own experience. My new storage unit is a little farther out, but I'm getting a much bigger unit and paying a LOT less. Now, in a year or so I guess I'll see if they try to play the same game.

I leased a unit from early 2015 to end of October 2017 and had no problems. It was clean, secure and well-maintained. On move-out, I almost had an issue and encountered Raquel in the office. She was friendly and understanding and while she couldn't help m herself, she put me in touch with her manager Devin Moreno who was very professional, pleasant and helpful. He took care of the issue expeditously and I left a happy customer. I have heard many horror stories about Public Storage in other states and locations but I had a positive experience at the Waples Mill location and I would recommend this location again.

When i went for an appointment to view a storage space, i was greeted as soon as i walked in. My visit/tour was given by Raquel. She was very helpful & even interacted with my son & even allowed him to assist her with locating our unit number. She made sure i knew how to get in & out of the gate using my code & how to lock & unlock my unit. She was very helpful. Because of her outstanding customer service i will make sure i recommend any people i know looking for a storage unit, to go & see Raquel!!

Place is decent. Office is closed at random times so call before going to ensure someone is there to help you if needed

This is ok for a storage place. A little dirty in the main entrance of the storage area, doors were broke for almost two weeks so anything could get into the storage unit. I wouldn't be surprised if there are birds or other animals that got in to the storage unit.

Our daughter and son-in-law used this facility and really like it. We decided to go with their recommendation. The storage unit was very clean and well maintained. Also, Christian couldn't have been nicer. We felt very comfortable with our decision.

Highly recommend this place. I got the right storage after answering a few questions of what would suit my needs. Christian showed me a storage and explained to me how the pricing of the storage work. After selecting, he gave me the keys to the lock for my storage and helped me filled out the proper forms and gave me a detailed receipt.

I came into the property to find out pricing and Christian the property manager and Ruth were great ! They walked me to the space even told me what I needed to pack my items. Thank you public storage

I've had my storage account for over a year and Christian, the property manager, is quite knowledgeable and always attentive to his customers. I highly recommend this facility to all my friends and family.

And also...(I would give this place a ZERO-star review but Google forces to click on at least one star.) If Christian is so "patient", show up at the STROKE of opening or anywhere NEAR closing time and see just how "patient" he is; this is the Prop Mgr who starts his car TEN MINUTES before leaving and then rushes customers who may come in within those 10 minutes. I'll post photos of the horrific bathroom (particularly the encrusted floor area around the toilet) next time. Google should block the same IP addresses who marathon-review. Shady, shady, shady, this Public Storage facility.

This storage facility is clean and well maintained. Management staff is very professional and kind. It is gated and monitored. 5 large carts to move items are complementary. Rates are very reasonable given that all units are climate controlled. I highly recommend this location.

Public Storage at Waples Mill in Fairfax is an excellent, air conditioned facility with easy access. The facility is secure, well managed by Christian the on-site manager, and even though a bit pricy with some costs that aren't advertised, is actually well worth the money. We will certainly work with them again.

I signed up for the smallest unit in facility and the space can still fit a lot! If you're looking for short/long term unit to store your belongings, I definitely recommend this place.

I have had a storage unit at this location prior to Public Storage taking over the management. The transition was very smooth and without any problems. Last week I needed to rent a bigger unit and reserved it online and when I arrived to complete the paperwork Chris had everything complete and was even able to get the larger unit on the same floor as my current unit. He showed me two units and let me pick the one that I wanted. Chris also explained the process for moving out of my previous unit and when I needed to let them know it was vacant to avoid having to pay for another month.

First impressions were the clean facilities and bright atmosphere. The gentlemen in the front office were polite, organized, and clear/concise when it came to explaining lease agreements, payments, etc. This made me feel very comfortable and made the whole process much less arduous than I had anticipated. Chris, the employee that assisted me, was very thorough. He walked me through the unit and was readily able to answer my questions related the storage unit, logistics, and move-in processes.
