New climate controlled storage units are for rent in the rapidly growing suburb of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, starting in August 2019 at the newest Public Storage in the country.

We bought Public Storage 863 Fortress Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37128 to offer just over 800 storage units to residents in this gracious southern town of historic mansions, young families and museums.

The acquisition is part of a larger growth spurt in the Nashville area, where so far we’ve grown by 21% over the last year.

Our storage facility, including one building added this year, is in the northwest part of town. Its brick office building looks like it could be a home in one of the nearby neighborhoods.

And it is easy to find: visible from Fortress Boulevard with good access to Interstate 24, just across the highway from The Avenue Murfreesboro.

Families Love Murfreesboro

“Historically it’s one of the nicest suburbs outside of Nashville,”; said area manager Sara Kulumani of Murfreesboro. “Young families are moving here.”;

The new addition comes on the heels of our rebuilding as a six story location Public Storage 800 5th Ave S, Nashville TN 37023 and another Public Storage 512 26th Ave. N, Nashville TN 37209 earlier this year.

In 2018, the quaint city of Murfreesboro ranked in the top 20 “Best Places to Live in America,”; according to Money.com, which cited the town’s dynamic downtown complete with a public square, shops and restaurants as a draw.

Another attraction is a lower cost living when compared to Nashville. The median home value in Murfreesboro is approximately $243,100, according to Zillow, with an average cost per square foot that is about 16% cheaper than Nashville. Renting here is also more affordable.

There are also “really good schools”; for kids says Kulumani, plus one of the state’s largest colleges, Middle Tennessee State University, both of which lend a young energy to the community.

All of its positive qualities have helped attract a 30% increase in residents over the least eight years, to about 141,000 today, according to the U.S. Census.

Residents who’ve made the move enjoy the annual Main Street JazzFest, an annual trick-or-treat with downtown businesses and an annual Christmas tree lighting. In addition, the Stones River National Battlefield memorializes the Battle of Stones River, one of the bloodiest of the Civil War.

Booming City and Growing County Locked In

Top employers in the area include Nissan, Amazon and MTSU, among several others, according to the County Chamber of Commerce. Jobs in county government, schools and city government rank high, too.

Unemployment throughout the state remains low, including in Murfreesboro, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor.

As the workforce grows and cranes continue to pop up in the area, Public Storage will be here to handle storage needs, but we can’t help with traffic that’s multiplying in the area.

When Kulumani first saw our newly acquired Murfreesboro property, she was super excited.

“I’m so glad to be driving to Murfreesboro,”; she said, referring to the opposite lanes along the I-24 north. “It’s a parking lot in the morning when going to downtown.”;
