Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 5002 2nd Ave, Brooklyn, NY

While looking for a unit to store material, I called Public Storage and had the pleasure of working with Chantele. She was very professional and helped walk me through the steps of renting a storage unit. Chantele also took the time to make sure I understood how to properly access the building and answered any additional questions that I had. Need a facility that is clean and has accommodating staff? This storage spot has been great. Clean and the customer service provided from Lisa has been amazing. The prices and sizes are very accommodating. I highly recommend you come store with the staff at the sunset location, I promise you won’t regret it.

Avoid this place like the plague!!! The best things they have going for them are the clean & safe environment. Elevators are CONSTANTLY out of service. I've been here when both elevators are out of service and you need to schlep your stuff up and down the stairs. To be clear, I don't mean their elevators are down for an hour or two for maintenance... they're down for days and weeks at a time. There was a point when there was only 1 elevator for a solid 2 months. I've even been stuck in their elevators before. The front desk's response? "yeah we know about the elevators. We've got someone coming." They open extremely late and close VERY early for a storage facility. If you have a job where you work 9a-5p, you'll never be able to access your belongings during the week. If you're OK with that... it might just work for you. Also - that promising price you booked on their website? It will only last about 3-6 months. In your rental agreement, section 2.2 states that they reserve the right to increase your rent whenever they want, whatever frequency they desire, with no cap on the increase. I booked my rental space with them on August 2, 2022 for $286/month. On December 2, 2022 (4 months later) my rent jumped to $369/month. On September 2, 2023 (10 months after my first increase) I'm now paying $422/month. So, 13 months in, I'm now paying nearly 50% more than my original agreement price. Public Storage, as an entire brand, is not worth the hassle. Stay away!

They have signs that say "don't hold elevator doors because it will leave it inoperable," but people don't like to read or listen. It’s always a great pleasure when I come to sunset. Lisa alway greets me with a smile and is always available to help and come up with solutions with any of my endeavors. I’ll recommend anyone to store here.

I came in the other day to ask a couple of questions and the staff was extremely rude. They acted as if I was bothering them at work. They didn’t want to give me their names but I heard the other worker call the rude girl who didn’t even put down her phone, oricida? Needless to say, I won’t be storing my things here.

Lisa, Orquidea and Michael they are always very helpful and courteous, always going the extra mile.💯👍 We recommend public storage.

Don’t let the comments about Orquidea fool you. She begs every person she signs up to leave her a good review… she is the most obnoxious, rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional worker I have ever met. I get that the storage closes at 6, but that should not mean pester and harass your customers to leave at 6. I told her I was finishing up and instead of asking “how much longer” or something of that nature, she tells me how I am now trespassing… it was 6:05. She continued to be rude so I succumbed to her nasty energy and argued back. How did this woman even get hired?! If you like being treated with decency, choose another storage.

I've spent thousands of dollars over the years. Unless you're a business, just get rid of it. F. This. I'm out.

Michael was friendly, responsive, and was super helpful, going above and beyond, and was patient with my many questions. He's a gem. The location is clean, quiet, well organized, and it's not hard to get to and there is not a lot of traffic, so it feels pretty stress--free considering moving is generally stressful. Well done.

Nice, convenient and good customer service

Overall the place is clean and safe. I moved my stuff here because they offered a much cheaper price online than at my former storage unit. I made a reservation online for the lower rent. When I went in person to finalize the rental, I was told the unit was no longer available, that it had been rented earlier that day. They offered me a similar space for a much higher price. I stood my ground and suddenly there were several units available at the original price. Nevertheless the rent went up a few months later, however the price was still lower than what I was paying at my former unit. Don't move here on the first or last day of the month for you'll end up paying your moving crew a lot to wait around for the elevators.

I had an issue with the payments toward my rented space and the manager there— Orquidea, helped me out to the best of her ability, she’s very understanding and was mindful about what my needs were. I am eternally grateful. *two thumbs up*

This location is great however the public storage corporation in general is not. I switched to Public Storage because the other place I used raised my fee to well over $200 for a 5x10 unit. I began with public storage in 2019 at $97 per month, they raised me to $107 in 2020, $145 in 2022 and now beginning February 2023 to $189 for a 5x10 unit!! Ridiculous. Guess I’m moving out…again.

We have the rental for one year. Now they increased $50.00 more and the service of Customer Service is "zero". Everytime we needed a cart, is nobody in the office to unlock. So many people angry just in one day they needed a cart. Thanks! we moved out our things already.

Hours are 9:30-6p M-F and 9:30-5p weekends. Closed on holidays. Need to take a day off from work to access personal belongings. There are codes to the elevators. There's no reason why this cannot be accessed outside of those hours. Upon signing 3yrs ago, this was the promotion. Very upsetting.

Great customer service! Yesterday I came to public storage to buy an outside storage space and the girl on the phone told me that they had spaces directly acceable from the outside which was a lie. Wow, never seen so many fake reviews. No matter what lie they tell you realize that Public Storage at this location will raise your rent after 6 months and the only recourse you will have will be to move. My last self storage place in Jamaica did not raise my rent one time in over a year. Also, from recent reviews looks like they are having the same elevator issue they were having 6 months ago, meaning their elevators don’t work and moving in or out will take you twice as long as you expected since you’ll have to share one sad elevator with 20 other people. The staff will act like it’s a recent issue.

Quick access to much needed space! I wasn't for the idea initially of keeping storage space. But the convenience of how close this place is and the extra space I now have in my place is great. Storing my winter clothes and vice versa with summer stuff when the seasons change has been helpful. I would recommend this place for any needing more closest space.

Super helpful courteous staff. First off, the facility is brand new and super clean. When the space I reserved online didn't quite fit my needs, the team here (led by Javonne) took me space-by-space till I found one that would accomodate my stuff. They quickly and efficiently adjusted my account (no change in price since the space was similar) and I was on my way. Highly recommend this spot for affordable storage.

As a professional mover for 20 years you can imagine i've probably been to every storage in the n.y.c. area. I had to take the time to say this is the best i have ever been to. Javonna is a good human. We thought we had 24h access to our space. We don’t, the facility closes at 5p. We arrived at 5:05p with a full moving truck and were told that the place was already closed. I pleaded w Javonna to make an exception for us, and she kindly let us in and stayed TWO HOURS longer on a Sunday night to let us access our space. She is a complete saint and went above and beyond for customer service, hope she never leaves this company!

Terrible. Wait for carts is an hour. They have 5 carts for a facility that on average has 5 or 6 cars in lot using 2 carts each. This is awful.

Feb 23rd review UPDATE..... Unfortunately only one week later I have to update my review in a very negative manner. Extra storage on 5002 2nd ave has been bought over by Public Storage unannounced to their customers. In addition any deals that were made with Extra space, Public storage is not honoring. I signed a lease exactly 1 week ago and no one mention that the company was going to be bought over. In looking at my bill I noticed 3 different amounts and none of which Extra Space had originally quoted me. Unfortunately in fear that I would be liable for a ridiculous amount of rent I decided to remove all my things from the space and close my account after only using the space for exactly 6 days. This original great experience turned into a nightmare. Please beware..

I had a wonderful experience here today. The facility is kept well and the staff extremely friendly. Patricia assisted me in getting a new storage space and she was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. Easy to work with and compassionate about the facet o was living items fue tomy mother's passing. I'd highly recommend using this space so you can experience this service.

I had a very positive experience renting a storage unit at this space on 51st and 2nd Ave in Sunset Park. Michael Lau was very helpful, answered all my questions and was very courteous. If only all customer service were like this. He was exceptional. The units are new and spotless and all are climate controlled. Thank you!

Mike was very helpful in our transaction. I was looking to store a motorcycle for the winter and he was able to accommodate me with ease. He set me up with a 5'7 storage unit and he even made sure it was in a location convenient for the maneuvering of the bike. The storage area is climate controlled so we didn't have to worry about the bike freezing up. Probably the best part about the experience is the customer service. Mike and Dameon were very welcoming and quick to answer any questions I had. I would def recommend this storage unit, it's new and in great condition.

Easy , great customer service got all my stuff In The locker stored in less then an hour after calling and making a reservation.

I went in about a week ago to inquire about units for storage. Dameon Johnson one of the employee at the location was very helpful in recommending a good unit for my items and explained thoroughly the fees associated. I will be looking to use Extra Space for upcoming storage.

Polite and friendly clerks, the right space. A clean start is now apace! One nagging problem: Auto Pay is a nightmare if you have a space at more than one location, and if you're a senior, a discount is so far but a promise in at least one location: the I/T gremlins need to clean up their act.
