Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 12716 W 63rd Street, Shawnee, KS

The office person was rude. They charged me a administrative fee and I didn’t move anything in because the size of unit I rented online was to small and when I went back to the office to change the unit the person was gone

Getting a init is convenient and easy online. Many of the units here are on dead-ends and can require backing down narrow corridors with no turn-arounds. Recently contractors were brought in that left nails and screws all over the ground.

I left a message with the office about some issues I was having with the app and a few other questions. Marcia was working that day, and she was so helpful! She didn't try to pass me off to someone else, or have me call back later. She called her supervisors right then and there to get me the help I needed.

This is the most pathetic place to rent and I have rented at enough storage spaces. They pull a scam by telling you to sign up online and when I tried canceling the rental they want to charge an Administration fee that they will not refund, even though I did not move any items into the unit. There is no property manager on site and I was asked to leave voicemail and left 2 messages and no calls were returned! They want to charge for a lock, even though I didn’t need one and they automatically sign you up for insurance and it’s your responsibility to let them know you don’t want it or else you get charged for that too! It’s been about 24 hours since I signed up online and now they’re sticking me with the Administration fee, which I understand that people have 3 days after signing a contract to cancel and get the money refunded. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, it looks older and not kept up either. If you have an emergency, good luck in getting in touch with the property manager!

My mother and I have a unit there and the manager Nancy is and has been great with us ,making sure her customers are always comfortable and super nice Fantastic

I have never had any problems at this facility. Marcia is always helpful and has a smile on her face when she greets you. Public Storage is fortunate to have her as a manager.

No security

It’s storage. Done badly. We were paying a lower price originally and then PS cranked up our rate. All while having us in a space we can’t access most of the time because, instead of keeping the fire lane available, has decided to rent out the spaces along the fence line by our storage. I’m very tempted to contact the fire department about the failure to maintain fire lane access in ALL sections of this facility. It’s INEXCUSABLE. Especially at the rate they charge us now. I’ve attached some photos for examples of this. So if anyone is there in our alley section, there is ZERO way to get around their vehicle with ours. With our space being at the almost very back, this happens often and frequently. Sometimes we are able to get down there, only to be BLOCKED IN and unable to leave! Recently this PS location has also been leaving the service gate WIDE OPEN, 24 hours a day and NOBODY on site off or during business hours. So much for “security”.

I am CHANGING my review! On Day 1, they were helpful. OF course, they wanted new customers to have a good first impression and present themselves as helpful and attentive. NEVER AGAIN did we hear from the property manager. She is never on the property, never returns phone calls. We tried to move out the 30th and get our receipt but she was not on the property and not returning phone calls. We are 2 weeks into the new months with a vacant unit sitting on the property and SHE HAS STILL NOT RETURNED THE CALL or provided us with the vacant receipt. They claim they can't do any pro-rated refunds, so of course they are making us pay for a whole month for a vacant unit. DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE OR TO SPEND YOUR MONEY WELL.

I have rented from this location in the past. I am returning because it's a nice facility. Brent walked the property to show me the exact unit I will be renting which was awesome. I would recommend....

They have all the parking taken up by landscaping vehicles on the weekends. Don't use this place if you have a big truck! Can't believe they allow people to park here when they aren't customers.
