Don’t be fooled: public storage as a company is completely busted. They’re an annoying and condescending corporation. They don’t care about people and are obviously trying to push employees out in favor of automation. This review is for our new friend Ralph at the Greensboro St location. While stranded outside attempting to untangle a mysteriously cancelled reservation, Ralph walked up from his lunch break and offered to help. He kept his cool when another upset customer cursed and swore at him in the store. He maintained a helpful, calm, and kind disposition. He was genuinely interested in making sure our items were stored safely and that we had easy access to them. He had only been working there for a week, but Public Storage would be hell without him. Thank you Ralph!
This storage unit has always been easy to work with from the moment I signed the paperwork to moving in. Mrs. Kimberly was especially helpful from start to finish and when I needed help with my unit during move in!
The manager Kim Kirby was very helpful with any questions we had. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She has a good personality and is a people person. You are lucky to have her.
First off, I want to say that the woman at the counter, I believe her name was Jessica, is great. Very helpful and took the time to explain things to me. So this review does NOT reflect her.
I rented a small 5x10 unit at this location in May. When I signed up the price was $21/month. I just received and email telling me that in August that same unit will cost me $63/month! That's an increase of 300%. That is absolutely insane. I understand that costs go up and I understand that the first rate was probably an introductory or promotional rate. But for the cost to go up that much is crazy. Not renting from here ever again.
Clean and well-maintained facilities + friendly and helpful staff. Jessica was especially helpful in making sure that I had a great experience and went above and beyond in helping me set-up my storage unit.

Jessica reached out to me two times to check on me and my reservation and make sure that I was taken care of. After a bit of a debacle that had nothing to do with her, She took the time and energy to help me identify an issue and rectify the situation all at once. She was incredibly helpful and she’s very good at her job. If she’s not a manager, she should be. She worked with me at the 515 S. Greensboro address but her first phone call Regarded another Public Storage so she seems to be able to help with multiple properties. She is an asset to her company. Thanks to her, I look forward to doing business with Public Storage this year.
Chris at Public Storage on Greensboro Street in Chapel Hill is amazing to work with! We got in a bind with our unit and he went way above and beyond so things would work out how we wanted and expected them to. It is so nice to have someone onsite that truly cares about the customers. Thank you!

We just got yet another increase in prices. We started at $166 18 months ago. It’s going to be $307 as of May. And yet we know that there are plenty of empty storage rooms.
I had an outstanding experience with Chris at Public Storage! I had an issue with my daughter's storage unit where she attends college, and Chris was incredibly helpful in resolving it. Not only did he address the issue promptly, but he also followed up regularly to ensure everything was taken care of. His kindness and attention to detail made the whole process stress-free, and it was so reassuring to know that he was personally ensuring everything worked out, especially with me being so far away. I truly appreciate his exceptional customer service!

Wow, been here for a couple of months and they are already increasing my monthly rent by $50 not mentioned in the contract I signed. Not good. Guess it’s time already to try and find another storage facility that won’t do this. For a non-temperature controlled unit this is an insane price hike and totally unnecessary and unacceptable. Should have known better as Public Storage has a bad reputation for doing this.

I was there on April 2 while they were paving the driveway going in to the storage facility. I was able to speak with Joni and she was very professional answering my questions and courteous. What an asset Joni is to have in a business that deals one on one with the public. I was appreciative of the information she gave me. It was very easy process to secure a unit over the phone. There was some confusion about pricing, but a supervisor was able to correct that immediately.
We decided to walk in to secure a space. Joni and Caroline were incredible friendly and helpful and walked us to each space to show us our options. Never acquired a storage space before, so they made the process easy and pleasant.

Horrible experience. They didn’t put the lock on my unit on my scheduled move in day and I called them 3 times and left a note in the door after hours and got no reply. Finally someone answered after 3 days and they put the lock on. They called me again a few weeks later about something and left a voicemail. I called them back not ten minutes later 4 separate times and it went straight to voicemail. Terrible and unresponsive customer service by idiots who can’t do the most basic of jobs. Don’t go here, there are plenty of other better storage facilities.

My son unexpectedly needed a storage unit on short notice. We are so glad that we rented with Public Storage. Caroline was a dream to work with.
Can’t make an online payment. Public storage keeps reversing the payment. Then I can’t ever get in touch with someone at the property because they are never there.
I've been a customer for some time now. The units are clean and feel safe. I decided to upgrade to a bigger unit and ran into some difficulties getting what I was quoted online. The good news is that Antonio, Eve, and Dorthy really went the extra mile to figure out the issue. In the end, and after two levels of management, the team was able to solve the issue and make me happy.
We contracted to rent a climate controlled storage unit to store furniture that we did not want to have exposed to humidity. We came to the unit multiple times only to discover that all the doors were propped wide open in the middle of August, exposing all the indoor units to the heat and humidity. Not exactly what we had in mind. When we raised the issue with the facility staff, they said that the units were indoor units, but not climate controlled. Even though the contract we signed clearly said "climate controlled" and the rate we were charged was the rate advertised for a climate controlled unit. We did not put our furniture in the unit and cancelled the rental. They charged us anyway for a months rental of a "climate controlled" unit which, according to the staff, they do not even have. Do not rent from this place. There are much better storage places in the area.

This seemed like a great thing--heloful staff, clean units, etc. But then they collected this month's automatic payment--a week later I was told I had given move out notice and no more account, plus they were going into my space! That's a no, not acceptable. Now I am bucking to get a refund for the month. Obviously I am not going to continue renting, as they are unreliable
