“There’s growth happening everywhere near Charlotte, including Huntersville,”; said Reid Kahler, a Public Storage area manager. “There’s a lot of young people moving to town, in their mid-20s or early 30s for jobs and affordable housing.”;

Moving to Huntersville

The South is known for its beautiful homes and neighborhoods, and Huntersville is no exception. Even better, the Charlotte-area housing market is quite affordable when compared to other bustling and growing cities.

On average, a Huntersville homebuyer can expect to pay $127 per square foot. That price is a steal compared to the national average of $141, according to estimates on Zillow.com.

“There’s still land around to build houses on, so Huntersville has been growing,”; said Sweeney. “It’s a hot spot for development in the Charlotte area because it has a new freeway, making it an easy drive to Downtown Charlotte, Lake Norman and the airport.”;

The I-485 beltway was completed in 2015, giving commuters easier access to Charlotte’s surrounding suburbs, including Huntersville.

The easier drives, affordable housing and job opportunities likely contributed to the huge 17 percent population increase in Huntersville between 2010 and 2016, according to Census data. And more people are expected to move to town in the coming years.

It is easy for longtime Huntersville residents to see how the city has changed. Condo, apartment and single-family home developments have been popping up like crazy to keep up with the influx of residents.

“The area near our new property is a mixture of businesses and people who are moving and needing additional space,”; said Kahler of Public Storage. “The school system is ranked pretty well in the area, attracting families.”;

“It’s a great place to be,”; said Sweeny. “Huntersville is at the southern end of Lake Norman and there’s all sorts of new housing and development in the area. It’s already in a nice and up and coming area.”;

The three-story building in Huntersville has indoor, climate-controlled units that range from 5×5 units – which are great for holding camping gear and holiday decorations – to 10×30 units – which have lots of room to store furnishings between moves.
