Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 801 N Mildred Street, Tacoma, WA

I've been with this Public Storage for several years now, and I'm very happy with them. I have a 12×30 (large) and a parking space. The staff are very professional and easy to work with. Especially Sierra, she is wonderful. 5 stars .

This location has no one directly onsite, just a kiosk however there is another location a couple minutes away with a team. Ray was extremely helpful with initiation, questions and end of service misunderstandings. Moving is stressful enough and Ray was completely supportive.

This place is terrible, my vehicle was broken into multiple times, over the course of 3 months. They absolutely, do not care about your property, only your rent check. No fence sensors, security sirens, or lights at all. In addition, there is no security guards, and the fence has holes in at, and vegetation growing out of control, that provides cover for thieves. Public Storage is well aware of these issues, and will lie to you, to get you to rent from them! I’d seriously go elsewhere, unless you like being ripped off. Update: I moved out and found other local places that were cheaper, and have nighttime security.

Rental process was speedy and unit was easy to get into, load in my stuff, lock it up, and go.

Liza at public storage is Awesome! She’s so kind, courteous, and was very understanding of a problem I had and made things so much easier for me. Thank you Liza!!!

I would give 0 stars if I could. The door to my unit has been jammed for weeks. Have called every number possible every day and even the fire dept code inspector as this is an obvious fire hazard. No returned calls or even answers from anyone. Don’t use this place for storage. Edit: few months later- someone broke into our unit (go figure) and of course no one answers the phone to get us to be able to see what was taken in our unit. We will be taking our belongings from this unit as soon as someone actually calls us back. Absolutely unacceptable.

Alisa and Liza absolutely made my week today by helping me and my friend out with our questions. I honestly wasn't looking forward to the errand, however, I was pretty blown away at the ladies' genuine care and attentive listening skills. I wish I could have these women help me with everything instead of just storage.

Dee is the best. She always is so helpful. This woman has repeatedly gone above and beyond the call of duty for me. I am on Social Security Disability and Dee has always been helpful and very understanding. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. Very secure, clean and professional. I would refer this company highly especially in light of the employees at this location.

We just did a drop off a vehicle to leave for about a month we'll let you know when we pick it up one thing the storage numbers on the pavement is almost wore off.

Constantly increasing price. Mice infested. I AM MOVING OUT.

2nd time in a month my unit has been broken into. No security cameras on the inside units. Do not recommend this particular location at all. Never anyone available to talk to or help

Twice they've changed the door code and I wasn't informed, so I wasn't able to get in. No one was in the office and there was no note saying when or if they'd return. Beware! Update: so far I haven't had any more issues. They did call and update me on the door issues, which I appreciated.

Infested with mice. As soon as we can our stuff will be moved to a better storage facility that cares about our property. Get ready to have your rates raised also. Customer service is not there top priority. They just want your money every month.

I ordered a spot online for our work truck this past Friday. It ended up being a little to small. I went in and spoke with the folks at 9th street location, and they accommodated my needs! My rent at Public Storage Tacoma has risen twice within a year, up 20%. Would the Company like to respond to this complaint?

Lindsey was efficient and cheerful dealing with me to open an account, while juggling several other customers who were making payments and one who had forgotten his access code! She took the time to walk me through the process to download the app, open the gate, showed me the unit and explained the locking mechanism. 3 months later: Dee and Billie were so helpful by advising me on what things to buy from their office store during the final weeks of moving!

I was in the office trying to purchase some boxes, Billy and Dee helped me with all the moving supplies I could possible need for my upcoming move , I will be back to purchase everything that they recommended. Thank both so much for all your help and knowledge. You both are the best ever......

Dee is the best Storage Facility Manager I have ever met, I have come to Public Storage over the last 20 years for both my personal and business related storage needs.. A couple years ago I opted for a different and newer Storage Facility down the street simply because I had an outstanding bill due to a mix up with my mom's storage unit when she sold her business.. Well that storage facility was bought out by Public Storage during that time, so when I went in to pay my bill and found Dee behind the desk I thought I was at the wrong facility, but it was a welcome surprise even though it meant I eventually had to pay that old bill (thanks again to my mom, haha).. Well I ended up moving my things out of that unit after freeing up some space in my studio apartment.. Around a year later I was back to being surrounded by all of my newest outdoor gear and sports equipment so it became necessary to make some room again, which is REALLY hard to do with a studio apartment, so "Back to Public Storage" I went.. I initially went to the newly acquired facility simply because all the units have steel roll-up doors in a concrete structure but there were none available in the size I was looking for, and since the other property is down the street only had one 5x10 available I flew down there and See helped me get it set up before someone else reserved that unit online and beat me to it.. Thanks to Dee I was able to secure the lead, and I got the first month rebate, after paying my old bill of course (thanks again mom, haha).. Either way, I needed a storage unit ASAP, but having Dee is as the Facility Manager is just an absolute bonus!. If I had a choice I'd probably take the newer facility only for the features of the building itself, despite the somewhat slow elevator.. And if I had a choice of which Facility Manager I get to do business with, then it would be Dee all the way, 100%!.

Thank goodness for Dee. I was a short term customer, needing temporary storage for household items. My husband and I were moving up from a large home in California to a condo in Tacoma and we knew we had too much furniture. Dee helped initially when I was reserving a place and I was impressed with her interest in my storage needs and her follow-up. Then after Day 1 of my move I realized I needed a bigger unit - no problem thanks to Dee. Then there was a billing snafu at the end from corporate and who ironed that out? Of course it was Dee who came to my rescue.

My wife and I both had an amazing experience at public storage in tacoma washington (both sprague and mildred street locations). We first went to the location on sprague ave to try to find a unit big enough to store our van. Theresa went above and beyond to figure out if the units she had available would work. Unfortunately, she didnt have any units that would fit our van without turning it into a permanent convertible so she took the time to research and help us find a location nearby that had a unit that would work for us. Dee at the location on mildred street was the bomb.com. She suggested a unit that was cheaper than what we originally thought we would have to get to fit our van and she too went above and beyond to help us. I would recommend either of these locations to anyone looking for a storage unit in the tacoma area or any area.

I will tell you today trying to get the right storage to fit my trailer into was a challenge. Either I was told wrong information over the phone or I was told to set my order on line. I had already spent 3 hours searching in the rain for a storage unit that would work.I finally was told to call Dee in Tacoma at Public Storage and she made everything work smooth for me. In and out. Dee, was great to work with, very kind and helpful. I mentioned to her when I stopped in that I needed short term storage and she looked to see what she had open. There was one open and Dee suggested that I go online and reserve it. She said that I could reserve it with her but that there might be special offers online. Dee walked me through the process and was very helpful. Dee is always cheerful and polite and looks out for her customers. We are treated like family at this location. She goes out of her way to help us and make sure that we are happy. Dee is a credit to the company and if Public Storage is smart they will do everything they can to keep her at this location.

We loved the experience with this location on Mildred in Tacoma. The wonderful Manager Dee was awesome from the start. She made our move easy and was graceful towards our situation. If I could rate 6 out of 5 I would! Had a nightmarish experience getting rejected by Pearl Storage and Dee pretty much saved me by getting me set up with a unit pronto (and an anti-moisture product as well! Which i would not have thought to ask for at Pearl so who knows how much of my stuff would have gotten moldy.) To top it off Dee found something of mine that i accidentally left outside my unit when she was doing routine cleaning and returned it to me....customer service at its finest!

Dee was super helpful and very sweet and professional about everything. Only ever hit one little snag and she took excellent care of it! Great customer service and storages are clean and stay dry!

Tiffany & Dee were so helpful. To be honest, I've never had a storage unit, so the whole process was new for me. Last minute move and they got me in ASAP, unit was clean and easily accessible from my vehicle. Checkin was simple with both of the employees on duty helping out. Tonya and Dee were friendly and very efficient once they understood I was needing to move by the end of the day. They secured the perfect sized unit and even got me a great deal for the first two months, even cheaper than advertised online! Overall a pleasant experience, would definitely recommend this facility.

Don't recommend it. Raise their rates all the time and for no added service. My unit was broken and I couldn't get in for 2 years. Kept requesting repair service. No one serviced. But they kept charging me and raising rent. I finally moved everything out to another facility.

Dee was great, very efficient and friendly! Update 10/2019 - While the staff I've dealt with are great, the company is shady. Not even a year in and they raise prices by more than 20% with no more than a few weeks notice. Very unhappy with this and would not recommend anyone as they will likely continue to raise them as they see fit.

I recently made a move from NY and needed storage for when I arrived. I easily made my reservation right from my phone when I was on my way. I received a confirmation call directly from the property manager Dee within minutes. Dee took my storage worries right away from me. Kiersten greeted me when I arrived a few days later. Kiersten had everything I needed to make my move-in go smoothly. This property also has automatic payments which is a big plus to me. The property is very clean and secure and the management is excellent. Thank-you Dee and Kiersten!!

I had been looking for a place to keep my boat as my HOA does not allow me to keep it at my house. After some rather intense searching I was having no luck finding any properties that were 1) affordable or 2) anywhere close to my house. I had seen the sign for this facility several time in my driving around the neighborhood but it had not come up on my searches. I decided to swing by and check it out anyway and to my surprise, not only do they provide storage for vehicles of all types but they even had space available and at a very reasonable rate. I was offered my choice of spots from those available and the rental process could not have been easier thanks to the assistance of Jamie, the young lady who was manning this facility. She was the only person there and the place was very busy but she maintained a calm and organized demeanor and took everything in stride. She even gave her chair to an elderly gentleman whom she recognized as needing a place to just sit down for a while. If there is one thing that I would suggest for this facility it would be a couple of client chairs for those who are waiting. I know it probably doesn’t happen that they are that busy that often but it would be a nice touch on those days when they are. Kudos to the young lady from Georgia who took that all in any handled it beautifully.

Being in the military doesn't afford too much time to take care of stored items. Fortunately at Dee is a very helpful and involved care taker of the public storage. Would gladly use their services again and recommend to anyone who wants excellent service.

Nobody likes moving, right?!!! My reservation for a unit was made on line and then the check in process was done with Shayna. She took what was a tiring job and made the move in process seamless and easy. Dee helped me with subsequent trip materials and she was delightful to work with. The facility is much nicer kept than one I have for my kids in another city. I recommend it.

Our family found itself in unusual circumstances when a family member had a stroke. No PAO was located so my daughters and I wanted to pay his storage account so his property was not in jeopardy but could get to no invoices. We didn't know his storage unit and initially didn't know where to find any of this papers, keys etc. Your employee, Dee was so efficient and helpful to get the information so we could keep current. Now, 5 months later, we finally have authority from the court to put on a autopay. Without Dee his property could have been auctioned off. Thank you again. Misi Lenci

I really like the manager at this Public Storage facility. She is kind, understanding professional, about her work and her customer service. I think she does a outstanding job at helping people with their questions and concerns. She is very family oriented person, that's just my opinion I just see that in her. Years ago when I had to move out, if I would of had time to find the correct facility to where I am. I would of chose hers but I had a short time to move, so I had to find the closest one to me at that time. But I'm thinking about moving my stuff to her facility. By the way her name is Dee. Went in randomly to see if there was a space for our RV on the last day of the month, they were full. Dee searches other locations to find is a storage spot. Long story short the other property’s space wouldn’t work for us, so we were back to looking but heading out of town for the weekend. All of the sudden my phone rang and it was Dee letting me know that she had a space open for us. Sweet. Only catch first come first serve and we were leaving out of town. It was already 5:30 pm and their location would be closing at 6:00 pm, Dee said she would wait for us and went out of her way to stay late just to rent us an RV space. Dee is awesome and goes above and beyond. Now we have a secure place to park our RV. Thank you so much Dee!!!!!!

my dad had a unit here for about 6 yrs. he lives on the east coast & couldn't get here till the 1st to pack up everything & was told he had to pay for an entire months worth, even tho he got his stuff out by the 2nd. this is how this place treats their veterans! DO NOT use this storage place! so now, my dad's unit sits empty for an entire freaking month! I'll be sure to blast this on social media to let people know that these people can't give military vets a TWO day grace period!

I came in to inquire about renting a unit sometime in the near future. Kevin was very helpful in determining what size I would need to store my belongings. And even showed me the unit he recommended. I will definitely be renting there very soon.

Went in about a week ago. I do not rent with this company and only needed a few boxes to purchase, Kirstin and Dee were behind the counter. Kirstin stepped from behind the counter and help assist me with finding the right size boxes I needed. Her and Dee both were friendly and I could tell they take pride in their job. I would definitely recommend this place not only for your storage needs but also if you just need some quick reliable merchandise with awesome customer service!

This is my first time renting with public storage, but Dee, Heather and Kirstin were awesome in helping me find the right size space. I was there for approx 30 minutes and the process was easy; they are very thorough and professional. There was a new employee training during my time there and you could tell that the focus was on proper rules and procedures and really training, not just telling them what to do. Great people. I had not needed storage for probably over 20 years. Doing a remodel on the house so we needed some space to get stuff out of the way room by room. Emily and Ameitra were great. Got me all set up and on my way in no time at all. Very friendly and competent staff there. Great facility. Looks to be very well run and secure.

Ameitra and Dee provide the best...and I mean the best customer service. Like the other reviews, they went the extra mile. I needed to store a 24' RV. In the moment there was only 1 25' space available. Ever try to parallel park a 24' RV in a 25' space? Dee spent sometime shuffling things around - making phone calls - and my RV is now in a 30' space. Yeah!!! Great customer service will get my business every time.

Dee was absolutely incredible! I had to store my household goods for only a few days while waiting to move in to my new house. She worked with me to find the perfect unit while not spending an arm and a leg. Customer service is definitely a priority here, and I won't ever store my goods anywhere else.

I was having a problem finding a storage unit close to my home. The first two I stopped at were full and expressed no interest in contacting me if anything opened up. The 3rd time was the charm. I stopped in to the Public Storage on Mildred Ave. and spoke with Dee. She's the hot chick with auburn red hair. She said they were full up too, but she didn't leave me hanging like the other places. She made some calls and was able determine that a unit would be opening up within the week. And she followed through on her promise to call me back. This facility is in a great location, easy access to and from Rt. 16 and N. Pearl St. And there are other people working there that are just as nice as Dee - really.

Extremely rude manager Follows you around like you're a thief, this is how they do customer service. I made a horrible mistake of following another car in without putting in my security code period she followed me all the way through the park made me walk to the front of the park to enter my code to make sure I wasn't a thief. This is how they treat their customers even after she found out I was a customer she was still extremely rude period I wouldn't use this place if I had any other choice I'd leave my stuff on the sidewalk and probably be safer. The manager Dee used extortion to try to get me to change this review

Dee was very understanding with helping me get into a new unit after a fire at Maxi-space cost me most if not everything I own. She explained everything in detail and was up front about all costs. Great attitude and sympathetic to my situation. Even offered advice on how to solve problems to help save the rest of my items. Do not use Maxi-space, especially the Sprague location unless you want to lose your property to fire & rodents and then be double talked to.

She went out her way to find the best deal for my moving situation, and she promptly answered all the questions I had. 04/03/2017 We finally vacated our unit after 2 years (!!!). Unfortunately we lost our keys to the unit, so Dee recommended to us a locksmith in Tacoma that was only 10 minutes away. I never had any problems with the service, and I was advised about what would happen with my account after we set a move-out date several days in advance. The entire process was smooth and efficient, and my husband and I were both very happy with the customer service. I've been a satisfied customer here for over 3 years now. The woman in the main office, Dee, has always been very friendly and helpful, and had the papers signed and the keys in my hand within minutes without any run-arounds, hidden costs, etc. She originally had recommended I go online to secure the best deal, and that's exactly what I did. Dee has always remembered my name and been very helpful when ever I come by the office. They have made the process of switching between storage unit sizes as easy as possible, which I've done a couple times over the years.

Liz knows what she's doing and she's quick. She represents her company well and seems to be able to keep cool under fire. :) We're very happy with the service we received at this Public Storage facility.

We were having a very hard time figuring out our storage needs... we came to this location kind of on accident, because most of the people we spoke to on the phone (we called tons of places) didn't really know what they were talking about, they weren't taking time to listen to us or help us, etc.... We came to Mildred St. Public Storage and Dee was outstanding! She was so willing to listen to our needs and help us get exactly what we wanted and needed. We were probably being annoying customers, because we have had a lot going on and it was a very stressful day. We're sorry for that! But thank goodness for Dee! She's the best!
