Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 8033 Martin Way E, Lacey, WA

They say they have weekly pest control treatments but the entire place reeks of rat urine. I lost thousands of dollars worth of personal property to rats and countless sentimental items. Their insurance policy only covers $250 of pest damage and my renters insurance policy won’t cover the rest either because apparently rats don’t count as pest damage. I feel very taken advantage of and I’m mourning the loss of so much personal property with both monetary and sentimental value. Now I have to spend a weekend throwing all my property away. I will have to pay dump fees for this and make several trips to the dump. And for this I paid monthly fees for 18 months. Don’t trust these people

I am totally satisfied with the customer service provided by the public storage staff. Especially with the manager Sue who always displayed a welcoming smile each and every time during my visits. As well I had the opportunity during my closing that training new employees was in process and from my observation excellence was in the making that is sure to be the continued 5 star service that future customers will appreciate.

This place is a joke. We paid $394 each month for a rat infested unit. The fat lady in the office is too concerned about walking her dog and eating lunch to help. They also went up in prices 8 months into us having the unit due to upkeep and a "face lift" for the front office. Go anywhere else. It was a nightmare everytime we needed anything.

Lindsey was a HUGE help for my mother and I, in getting a cut lock service request put in. Upon arriving she immediately greeted me and was super helpful with accommodating my mother in helping her by bringing out the paperwork required to put in this request due to my mother having two broken legs. Despite mine and my mothers kind of… irrational mood Lindsey uplifted my mothers spirits by informing that the service request would be done tomorrow. Not only was Lindsay informative on a level that was easy to understand, she just was very polite and professional. I appreciated her hospitality today and wanted to recognize her efforts at assisting my mothers issue with her unit. Please give her a special recognition for us PLEASE!

Liz and Sue are awesome which is the only reason I'm giving this Jawa infested scrap heap 5 stars. customer service on the phone needs to have additudes adjust via electrical high voltage discharge to there no no touch. No twenty four hour access despite the thing being accessible via an outside pad and having security cameras all around and wired up.. Apparently the security doesn't do their job because the gates have been cut for remote times and nobody has been shot and are tasered. And they make it so we put a property in other credit requests the very same month. I got the unit they jacked the rate up almost 30% now the next month.

Semi-conveniently located, and friendly staff. Combined with the new paint job, the place looks good! We have however, found evidence of rodents in our unit and the company decided to change our prices without warning and early; even though our price was supposed to be for 6 months. We will most likely try to find some other place for our storage needs.

I’ve rented a space here for 9 months. The facilities are clean and the location is convenient. However, customer service is seriously problematic. In 9 months, I have been unable to access my unit during normal business hours on 3 or 4 different occasions. I don’t care if the office is open, or anyone is onsite. A want is access to the space that I’m paying for, during the hours that I’m supposed to be able to access it (until 9pm, 7/365…according to the lease, anyway.) They also raised my monthly rate once for no apparent reason, from $150 to $210, without even telling me (when I called, the manager said they raise tenants’ rates periodically, “based on current market rates,” and to get my agreed-upon rate back, she would need to “apply for a waiver from corporate.” (To their credit, they did let me return me to my agreed-upon rate…tho I still had to pay $210 for the month that had billed before I realized they’d raised my rent.) This is an excellent example of the - odd? - unusual business practices of this particular property: Tonight is Christmas Eve. I stopped by after work (a little before 6pm)…to pick up a bunch of presents I was keeping in storage so they’d be a surprise ….and the gate would not open. I tried the app, and I tried my access code…I’d see a message saying, “Success!” but the gate didn’t budge. The gates should have been open until 9pm, and the office is supposed to be open until 6pm. The office was unlocked, the lights were on…the sign on the door read, OPEN…the utility closet had been left wide open…but no one was there. No one answered the phone, when I tried. I could hear people upstairs, but no one came down to the office, tho the computers and security monitors were all on…it was obvious that I was there. I called the after hours access number (corporate), while I waited in the office lobby. The corporate agent was great - friendly, helpful, professional. She couldn’t figure out why the gate wasn’t working, either…or why the office was unlocked and seemingly abandoned. She called the district manager and to see if there was anything that could be done to open the gate remotely (they didn’t answer, but that’s okay…it is Christmas Eve, after all lol). Meanwhile, inside the gates, someone came out with their super-angry doggo. I asked if they worked there, and they said, “No,” and wandered off. After awhile, they came back over to me and said that they lived upstairs with their mom, who was the property manager. I asked if they would please see if their mom knew that the office was wide open, and that the gate wasn’t working…? They just said, “Mom says to come back tomorrow morning.” Which made zero sense, considering there was a rain-soggy note taped to the gate saying they were closed *on Christmas Day* & they were “sorry for the inconvenience.” I can’t imagine I’d have any better luck accessing my unit tomorrow (when they’re “closed”), than I did tonight (when the gate is *supposed to be* working until 9pm)…so we’ll just write off those presents for now, and stay at home & cozy. I’ve rented storage units in many cities over the years, from different companies…and I have never been refused access to my own belongings before. These guys do it all the time. It’s very odd. If you think you might need to access your stuff at a particular time (e.g., picking up camping gear the morning of a trip; accessing an item you sold online; collecting Christmas presents you’ll need the following day…), I recommend finding a different storage company. (If you will only be storing things you never use, and don’t mind unexpectedly being denied access to your stuff now & then….this place would probably work well for that.)

I had some troubles with a reservation via online and kiosk check-in at the satellite location across the street. If you have any questions or issues then you better go across the street to the main store location and talk to Lindsay at the front counter. She was very helpful and sorted everything out, saved my promo and even saved me a few bucks. THANK YOU LINDSAY!

Wow, this place is really solid. Lindsey @ the 8033 Martin Way facility is just top notch - always helpful and cheerful, practical and professional. My stuff has been in storage here since 2016 and it’s 2022 and I went in and got it all out and everything is in good condition, safe, dry, and, except for dust, clean. Kind of amazing, given the stories I’ve heard about peoples experience elsewhere. I highly recommend this place if you need safe, reliable storage for your stuff!

Beyond frustrated. We got ZERO warning that the building with our unit was going to be painted. When we spoke to someone in the office they said it would be 1 day, we’re now on day 3 and still have no access to our unit and have to have EVERYTHING out of our apartment by today so now have no where to put our thinks. Thanks for screwing over your customers!!!

Communication was not made to inform of pesticide and maintenance to customers. I visited my unit to find my door and lock taped, with a white film on items beyond my door. Fumigation was poor, and I left the indoor storage facility with a white film on my shoes tracking to my car.

I’ve been renting this space now for about 6 months and I’ve made my payments on time. Being a veteran I’ve rented spaces for years and never have I had a storage unit rate raised, never! I’ve got a 17 year customer service background and with that thinking I’m locked in on the price - got a notice that their raising the rent. I got a larger space for a lesser price to store my truck ( outside ). My line of thinking is and I’ve shared this with “management “- if you haven’t made any upgrades inside or out, there’s no added security, why raise the price. I believe they noticed the mistake and decided to up the price on me. Great customer service ? I don’t think so!

It was rather simple to set up, took a look at the unit before finalizing reserved booking on it. That ended up saving me like ~$20 bucks for a unit that was actually way bigger than I initially thought. Month to month, due on the first, have until the sixth before they lock down the unit. You should also buy the dessecant bucket that they sell, it's like $8 and will help keep moisture levels low. In this interaction Tamara got me all set up and made it rather easy to do so.

Great location. Sue was very nice and made the paperwork and processing go smooth. She even met our needs with supplies purchased on site. Seems the units were a bit over priced for not having 24 hour surveillance security. The units were very clean and very tall. Did see the sheriff a few times making a security checks.

Amazing These people live in the same place where they work, and they are constantly blackmailing me, they threatened me that they would evacuate my car, although there would be another two weeks before the next payment. They constantly call me and demand money. I paid a month, and did not intend to pay anymore, but the manager of this store attacked me with threats. I was forced to remove my transport from the store, and now I am going to write a complaint to their main office.

It was very unpleasant to deal with a manager. He always called me on weekends, and demanded money for some reason. The price for storage space is constantly changing, 64 or 88 or 128 per month, I still do not understand. If it would be possible to put zero stars, I would put.

Everytime I went into the office they told me different things about my contract. Now I have to pay more. I will never go back to this place and will never say anything positive about this place.

I needed a space for vehicle storage and decided on this Public Storage. The rate is $62 for an outdoor space. I reserved the price online. Immediately following, Sue called me. She was very polite and helpful. I went to the office to fill out additional paperwork. She walked me over to see if the space suited my needs. She got me booked for the space extremely quickly, set me up with a gate code and automatic payments. She also prorated the first month 50%. Overall, the process probably took less than 30 min and Sue provided great customer service!

Christine’s customer service from minute one was nothing short of stellar. My circumstances for needing to rent a storage unit on the fly were so stringent, that it had to all happen seamlessly and it did. I look forward to working with her while i’m a customer. I just closed my storage and I must say, my stuff was in incredibly good condition for being untouched for 9 months, plus the staff has been super helpful and nice. The area is well secured too. 10/10 will be my go to storage next time I need one!!!
