App doesn’t work, increased my rent without telling me. Charge me over $100 for going one day over my agreement while their app was broken. Terrible company go anywhere else, they hike your rent right after you get in, so just ignore whatever quote they give you. Any other storage facility prorates when you leave and provides notification of changes to the policy, locks in your rent for a longer time, and actually has an app that works. Do not use them even if it’s the cheapest option!

Teri was amazing and super friendly. Made experience very easy. I have no issues with the people that are hired to work onsite. I have an issue with the owner. This is my first day moving in with two cars full of packages to store. My unit is on the 3rd floor. The elevators are out of order. The owner clearly knows about the issue because there are signs posted that the elevator is out of order. No one is in the office to help. We went on line to rent a unit on the first floor and when we went to the unit it was not available.

I have moved my review to 1-star unfortunately because this location was unable to communicate residents being unable to access their storage units due to the elevators or I have no idea otherwise. The gate is wide open. Residents are unable to get to their storage unit to move things in and take things out. The doors in front of the loading zone are locked with the elevators wide open. With this being a holiday weekend at that where the office is closed on the Fourth of July, this is a huge inconvenience for people. Once again, no communication was bothered to be given out about this nor an update when this should be rectified.

I was a long-time customer with Public Storage on Big Beaver in Troy. It has been a great location to store our belongings. It has great accessibility, including using the app to open the gate and building door. The building units are well lit. There are a variety of units to include large climate-controlled inside units. In all the years with this location. However, Public Storage will increase the price for current customers periodically until it's a bit ridiculous when compared to the rates for similar units offered to new customers for an extended time. Also, the Public Storage management did not do a very good job resolving a situation where a person "stole" a larger unit I had just agreed to & paid to rent so I could consolidate two units from a different company. Instead of calling the police, the mgmt let this person keep their lock on my unit without offering me a different unit and changing the rental agreement. I cancelled the rental because I did not want to be liable or connected for whatever was going on in the unit but DID NOT receive a refund. Additionally, I had to rent another unit with the other company at a higher cost AND because I was working on a time crunch I had to stay with Public Storage much longer than I wanted due to this situation which costing me several additional months rent. I now realize I should have immediately called the police myself which is why the rating is not lower.

FIVE STARS to Teri, the site manager, has been wonderful to work with and support; highly recommend her support for this site. TWO STARS for the franchisor and/or site digital system... Knocking these off since the website portal and phone number methods of working with the site were not working; we tried logging into the portal, accessing information on the rental agreement, and getting through to the 1-800 number to access our portal. None of it was working; we did not try the phone app as nothing else was working to get us there. I recommend going elsewhere if digital support is crucial to you.

Sadly cannot give 0 stars. I have been renting with Public Storage for about 7 years now, and for the past two years have had to nearly beg and fight with them to not only charge reasonable prices, but have also had to fight with them over late fees and liens being accrued as well as my locks being cut and replaced with auction-lockouts on my units even though rent has already been paid in full. Recently they have been charging me $337 for my storage locker (which I started renting at $182), and most recently have contacted them to get a RENT reduction (Not SPACE Reduction) because they were planning on RAISING my rent to nearly $440/mo; the result of that contact? I finally got a rent reduction! My $337 rent is now "reduced" to $353! But wait, that's not how math works! $353 is HIGHER than $337, and $353 is the lowest they claim they can go! Not to mention, there is no manager on site, so all calls are directed to an answering machine that doesn't get attended to until a manager from another site comes in, I commonly find that the gate that 'requires a code' is left open despite there being no cameras and no manager or guard on-site. If you're going to rent, MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE that they put in a non-negotiable, non-changeable PRICE CEILING, and then READ THE ENTIRE CONTRACT to make sure they did it! This company WILL charge you extortion-level rent and say it's "a great price" or "perfectly reasonable", and WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU. They were fine (they were great, even!) for the first 5 years; now they are intolerable and I am looking for a new storage facility; presuming I can find a way to afford to move my things out of their terrible facility, with the prices they're charging (and that only keep going UP, and NEVER GO DOWN unless you ask and they're feeling especially generous). To be clear: Take what I say with a grain of salt, but this is my experience with Public Storage; and it has left a taste in my mouth that 'bitter' can't begin to describe. I am done, and I am fed up.

If I could give zero stars I would. I reserved a unit in December, went to the unit same day and the experience was awful. The unit had stains and/or water damage so I did not move into the unit. The front office was closed despite being normal business hours as the employee decided not to show up. I was able to contact customer service and was unable to get a suitable unit. I cancelled the unit same day, there was no moving in to the unit. I was told I would be refunded except for the admin fee, but was only given a refund for the lock. I waited for the unit charge to be refunded on my credit card but it wasn’t, therefore disputed the charge with my credit card and it was reversed. 3 weeks later I get a call that my account still shows a balance and that I might be sent to collections over this, but they’ll “make a note of you never moving into the unit” and see what happens. This is not how a company should do business. Not to mention it was bizarrely crowded the day I was trying to move in and there were not enough moving carts. I would never ever use any public storage facility again. Update: the manager for the facility did reach out to me and correct the situation, which I appreciate.

Public Storage has absolutely abysmal customer service. Every interaction I’ve had with them has been rude, dismissive, and downright arrogant. I am currently trying to cancel my unit, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have attempted to reach the company via phone, text, and online chat. Each time, I am abruptly cut off before I ever get a real answer. When I try calling by phone, I am disconnected before I can even speak to a live person. There is no way to resolve a simple issue remotely, and the complete lack of accessibility is unacceptable. Now, just to cancel my unit, I am forced to physically go in person — a major inconvenience that could easily be avoided if their customer service system functioned properly. If you value your time, your money, and respectful customer support, avoid Public Storage.

I had been paying the same rate for months, and without any notice my automatic billing suddenly went up to over double. No email, no letter, nothing. When I called to ask why, the woman on the phone was extremely rude, unhelpful, and even hung up on me. They refused to help even though I was never informed of the price change. I feel completely taken advantage of and treated with zero respect as a customer. Edit: When I called and asked to speak with someone else they refused to get me to another person and said “you’re welcome” and hung up. The lack of basic customer service and support is beyond frustrating. There are plenty of other storage facilities in the area that have better service and similar pricing.

EDIT: Instead of deleting, I've decided to edit my review. When and ONLY when I decided to leave the poor review below, we're we contacted by the regional manager Cody. After speaking with him, it was funny how easily our monthly bill got adjusted permanently back to our initial agreement we signed on a contract on. Because, that's what was happening.. raising our rate from gradually over time. Within a years span it went from $32 to $65/mo. Nothing changed yet it gradually increased. We paid on time. They only agreed to fix the rate if I deleted the review. So I'll give you 3 stars for fixing the issue but the crap we had to go through to get to here was uncalled for... interestingly, until the review, all we heard was there's nothing we can do.. well apparently there was! All they are really concerned about is not having a bad review is what it's boiling down to for decent business. Funny how the managers tone has changed in the VM letting us know the situation was rectifyed by Cody who could even call us back himself. So there... THAT is the HONEST REVIEW. If you tell the truth.. you don't have to remember anything... -Mark Twain I wouldn't even give them 1 star! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ACROSS THE BOARD!! The manager Terry had a horrible attitude and speaks to you like you're beneath her. With there's nothing I can do attitude!! We've asked to speak to the district manager and STILL have yet to hear from this person!!! We've rented for about a year and have paid on time and the price of the unit has DOUBLED!! Corporate is just as bad with wanting to talk over you! We will take our things and go elsewhere! I will NEVER EVER AGAIN use their services!!! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!

The building needs repairs. There is a broken-off handle, I am unable to access the building interior from that end of the building. Exterior lighting hanging off building E by wires. No interior lighting in the unit. While open until 9pm, without bringing a flashlight I will not be able to see in my unit. I do not appreciate the mandatory insurance, which I do not want, and to go through a process to cnx. I will be looking for a different storage facility that maintains the property.

⭐☆☆☆☆ First-time shopper for a storage unit and really disappointed with how this was handled. I signed up online for a 5x10 unit listed at $24, and I specifically selected the +$8 climate control/swing door option. They called to confirm the reservation and I scheduled time off during my lunch break to come in and finalize everything. When I showed up, I was told the unit didn’t have climate control, and they asked if that was okay. I said I’d still take a look — the unit seemed fine, even without it. But then they tried to charge me $32 for a non-climate-controlled unit? When I pointed it out, they claimed they thought I was okay with the lack of climate control and that’s why it was priced differently. But I made it clear I had clicked the climate control add-on, which should’ve been $24 + $8 — not $32 for less features. To make it worse, the same $24 unit is still showing online. They weren’t able to match the price or accommodate the situation at all. Felt like a bait-and-switch, and I ended up walking away without the unit.

It takes a while to get used to the security, but now that almost everything is moved it's not so bad. The staff is polite and helpful. The only thing I am unhappy about is that it is supposedly climate controlled. The day I moved in it was 60 degrees outside. I wore winter clothes including a winter coat Inside. I was uncomfortably cold the whole time. I have Instruments and am concerned that they will be damaged. I am not trying to live here, but I will need to get into storage regularly and don't want to be uncomfortable.

This company is criminal. They continue to drastically change their rates. I went from paying $130 a month to $235 in less than a year. They up their rates with little notice and no reason. When i called to ask why this was changing the manager that i spoke to was EXTREMELY rude, cutting me off and interrupting me. Her customer service skills are horrendous. I am not one to yell or argue, so i didn’t. But it was one of the most unprofessional interactions i’ve had in a long time. I suggest to everyone shopping around for storage units to go elsewhere. There is absolutely no reason why my unit should have increased $105 in 10 months. Absolutely ridiculous.

I would give 0 stars if I could. A water leak completely ruined a lot of my belongings, and it's been TWO months with no response from their insurance company (Orange Door Insurance). Despite submitting all the damage photos, they’re ignoring my emails and calls. How on earth does this place have a 4.7-star rating?! On top of that, I was forced to buy a $20 lock from them without any option. I am beyond frustrated—this has been the WORST self-storage experience ever. DO NOT go here!

Mine jumped from $27 to $46. Stay clear from this scam of a company!!!

These guys are such a cheat. They made me pay $20 extra dollars to use their lock when they promised that I can return that lock and get back my money. But, when I arrived at the unit, I saw that I have to use that lock they provided to secure my unit. When I asked the manager for a discount, they refuted saying that I can't get a discount and I have to pay for it anyways. Frustrated with this experience. I will make sure none of my friends ever do business with these guys.

I first came to this exact place during Covid and only paid less than 30.00 a month and now it appears to increase each month. I’ll pay 50.00 one month and the next I’ll pay 80 and up for a small cubicle that doesn’t come with anything special. Don’t think about asking for grace , they’ll deny you within a second. Overall , I think it’s decent . But the price increases are crazier than rent these days . At least your landlord will give you a why and time.

New Update: Unfortunately I have to drop my rating as low as it goes. My family decided to keep using PS Troy after I moved out and now also have had poor experiences and while the manager worked with them to drop rates for a loyal customer, one month later corporate made sure to significantly raise future rates. Again these are REIT properties and can raise rates at will without any oversight. So disappointed. Facility is clean but still no working unit alarms even though PS claims they do and YOU pay for it. Update: I have moved out of this location as prices were being increased so heavily that storing no longer feasible. There is NO loyalty what so ever to customers. They claim that prices go up when market changes. This is dishonest because they don’t ever reduce your rates when the markets are down. Just greed and again no loyalty. These are REIT properties so no real great laws to protect tenants because they are investment properties. Original review: I have been using this location for years and the local managers are great and friendly. This 2 star is for the facilities and the regional management. One example is the main sliding door to the climate controlled building has been broken for over 6 months without any sign of repair. We are now in below 0 temperatures. My rates have raised at least once and sometimes twice yearly and they are adding a new climate controlled building yet no funds to fix the current building. Having a hard time believing the new building can be any better maintained when the local managers get blocked by the regional and corporate management teams. Started great but been going downhill for the last 5 years.

It is fine , I rented a unit but did not receive an access code on time on the day of my reservation. I was there by 8:15am and still did not have access code - need to improve your system for this. I had called in advance to inquire days before. I called the 800 “support” line the day of my reservation, and they couldn’t provide the code, when they should have per the property manager. Also , they need to adjust their hours to meet customer needs - if the units are open 6am-9pm, personnel should accompany these hours. The units need to stay open until at least midnight too if not 24 hours. Property Manager, Terri was helpful and did provide some good tips.

my rent has increased 50 dollars every 9 months, or DOUBLED, since I started renting in 2020. What has changed that has needed to nearly double the price of my original rent? The unit is exactly the same. The facilities are exactly the same. Is the plan to just keep increasing rent until people are literally paying as much as renting an apartment? I moved into this space due to proximity and affordability and this location has absolutely gauged me of money with zero explanation. I moved In bc I cannot afford an apt and needed a temporary, consistent solution not a constantly changing and increasing bill. I left the same message with management and have gotten no reply. Absolutely terrible way to run a business.

This is not right! 5:444 Search Make Payments Your account has multiple spaces. Please select the unit you would like to make payments for. Space Number: 4011 $365.00 Due 07/01/2022 Space Number: G014 $338.00 Due 07/01/2022 Update: manager called after I left a poor review. My monthly rate was reduced. Rates increased 30% 6 MONTHS AFTER MOVE IN. Rates increased $285 to $365! 10 x20 unit 6 months after goods moved in. I filled the unit and now rates go up 30%! I have two units and did not plan on this!! Expect rates to rise after you move your goods. Public Storage should be investigated by attorney general to raise by 30%. It is expensive to move goods and then Public Storage sticks it to ya. They did it me in Dallas too. $PSA
