HORRIBLE, zero stars -huge hole in ceiling, causing damage to items, was told by staff “all units are like this” -after requesting manager response, staff told me they would be fired if they referred to upper management -door to building doesn’t open -no response from management after repeated attempts -costly insurance was useless -had to contact customer service multiple times

I was very unhappy with Goshen rd location. My unit was in a building at the bottom of a very steep hill. Never any carts at building, once I had to take a cart down the steep hill through the gate. It was awful. Had to then get my car and items through gate and down hill. Door was always open To the climate controlled building that rodents could enter easily. I moved the next month to another location. I never felt my items were safe and secure from damage in goshen location. The young man that initially set up unit was nice enough.,

The staff was initially very helpful, until there was a problem. Then no one wants to help you and people get attitudes. My issue was that my items were damaged due to water and rodent issues. If you don’t have the insurance they tell you it’s nothing they can do, if you have their insurance they will not give you full replacement cost. Their game also is to get you to move in on a special, then once you are there they will keep increasing your rent a few times a year. After a few years of renting I was paying 400% more than when I paid when I moved in. They will beg you to leave positive reviews and push to have negative reviews removed.

I started renting from Public Storage in September 2021 and my rent started at $160/month, not even a year later, they raised the rent to $197, and now this month my rent will be $212. I rent a 10x10 unit - that's $21 per sq foot. It doesn't even cost that much to rent my apartment!!! I think this is absolutely unreasonable and unfortunately, I can't afford to keep paying this and will be taking my business elsewhere. Also- just beware if you have issues, you will never be able to talk to a real person on the phone. Only through the chat feature on the website or going in person.

UPDATE: Management got in touch with me and is working to reconcile my previous issues. I hope to increase my review even further soon! Not very impressed so far. Once you have rented a unit and they have your money, it's very difficult to get in touch with anyone when you have questions.

The facility seems to be well taken care of, very accessible, and safe. As a woman, I have been at the facility by myself in the dark & I have never felt scared nor threatened. There's security cameras everywhere & from the front office you can see what's being watched. The customer service has always been kind & helpful. Bisrat, who has been there for several months after being transferred from their Rockville facility, has helped me on several occasions. It's always a pleasure to see his smiling face. Heck, it's a storage facility... customers come & go, employees come & go... it's just darn nice to interact w/ someone who really knows his job.

I rented a storage place and drove 11 hours from another state and with a sprained ankle, only to get to there and realize my space was too small and the office was closed. The next day, I went to the office and Bisrat was super helpful and accommodating. He upgraded my space to a bigger one with no charge. Smooth and easy transaction. Very nice guy.

Originally told me the promo was available when I arrived it was not. Then they hit me with the bait and switch giving me a larger unit just to later upcharge. Throughout my stay I've encountered Petrified rodents, Facility repair which left by unit littered with excess concrete ground, and a Reoccurring water leak.

Tseqab & Bisrat were both super helpful and wanting to do the right thing, despite me being the one to have lost the key!!!! Can recommend them as customer focused and responsive

I was searching for a convenient and affordable storage unit. I looked online and found that there were some units available and right around the price range I was looking for. I made the reservation to see the unit. Not more than an hour later I was called by one of the staff members on the Goshen property. I came in and spoke with a staff member by the name of Nicole. Not only was she extremely friendly but very knowledgeable about the unit and helped me wiht all my questions about which unit would be best suited for me. The experience was very genuine and helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a safe and convenient storage location to check out public storage on Goshen rd.

what is the smallest size and what is the rent per month?

Rented a 10x40 space for a couple of years. The only good thing was the size of the unit. Rent was increased multiple times. Regularly had my unit blocked by others. Staff did not care. One time a truck was parked in front of my unit staff said they did not care if people left vehicles there. It was my responsibility to get the vehicle moved. Waited two hours for the person to come back and move their vehicle. A unit above mine clearly had a something leaking in it, an oily substance was dripping into my unit. Once again, the staff did not care. They staid they would check it out and contact me. They never did.

I have had a unit at this location for about 5 months and thus far I have had zero issues, anytime I had issues of any sort I have always been assisted by Delilah with wonderful customer service that she represents and I appreciate her patience because I do tend to ask a lot of questions and she always answers my questions to the best of her ability, Delilah even told me that their is a way to unlock the gates by using my phone so I do not have to exit my vehicle which is a great feature that I like and they very understanding as long as you communicate if their may be a delay with making a payment. Overall looking forward to the next 5 months of more exceptional service from Delilah as well as the entire staff at the Goshen location.

We booked online a 10X10 public storage unit at 19900 Goshen Road. We had some issues with using that facilities. They gave us a smaller unit 9X9 without any discount and notification.The code was not working for more than six weeks and we were not able to access our property after hours. Later, the gates had issues. For a long period of time property manager as well as district manager didn't answer our calls. We were finally informed that things are working but soon after the pandemic and lock-down were in full force. Because of this, our move out was delayed and we weren't really able to visit the facility in 3-4 months. We left two messages in a middle of June that we are vacating the premises and need confirmation that the code is working. No one answered. I came by in person on July 1st to confirm and inform the storage manager that we have vacated the location. They wish to charge us for the full month of July. I would not like to be charged and was told to contact customer service and the district manager to pursue that. I've left 3 voicemails with the district manager and 2 messages with the location. I spoke with customer service representatives twice and was promised someone from the management team would contact me. After 2 weeks, seven massages and three conversations with the customer service nobody was calling me. I was calling to the customer service again and was informed they can't help and I need to call the Public Storage collection department. also, they informed me they are charging late fees even during the pandemic. I left a message with the collection department. Nobody call me yet. It is kind of interesting experience.

Hi every one i been a customer of this store for over 13 years , and recently i experience a excellent customer service from SHAKEYTA she always very friendly and very helpful. Definitly she is a good assets for this company Look forward to see her in better position.

BEWARE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE MONTH NO MATTER WHAT, this is a Public Storage policy which I'm at fault for not paying attention to. HOWEVER the local managers have their hands tied and can't do anything to help you at all in case you overstay even 1 day. THIS LOCATION (5/5): Everything else at this location was completely fine and didn't have any issues at all. The manager even reached out to me after reading my review apologized and listened to my complain. She doesn't agree with the 'bill the full month' policy either but can't do anything to help. PUBLIC STORAGE COMPANY (1/5): Moved out on the 1st of the month and turns out I need to pay for the whole month! (I'm at fault for not paying attention to the predatory policies of this company) Complete unwillingness to pay for less than the whole month. It just makes business sense to let me pay for less than the whole month and rent the unit out.. this is a predatory practice! Never again.

Be very careful with Public Storage. They will lure you in with a low monthly rate, then jack up your rate significantly within the first six months. Ours just went up 25%. An absolute sham. Should be against the law.

The second month I was here someone broke into my unit and stole about 70% of what was inside. They didn't even call me to tell me. About a month later I went in and the lock was changed and had to ask the front desk why and only then did they tell me. Today I went to see what I had left in the unit after not being in there for a long time. There was mouse poop and mildew all over my clothes and everything else in there. The whole unit was an entire loss. I paid for this place for 2 years and lost everything I had put in there from the beginning. Absolutely horrible experience and I would absolutely NEVER recommend them!

I have been meaning to write a review about this Public Storage location for quite some time. In particular, to compliment the competence of the manager, Shakeyta. Whenever I have needed assistance or answers she has responded in a manner that not only represents Public Storage in a professional capacity, but her level of customer service is an example for others to follow. On one occasion, I personally witnessed a customer being so rude to Shaketa that I was compelled to recognize her professionalism after the abusive customer had left the facility. Someone without Shaketa's ability would not have been able to remain calm while also exercising her authority as the individual in charge of this location. A manager without her level of professionalism might have allowed a similar situation to spin out of control. It is a credit to Shakeyta's managerial skills that the episode was diffused and the customer departed with the problem resolved. I have also been impressed by how efficiently the location has been run including property maintenance, keeping the gates operational, as well as ensuring lighting is kept updated and no trash is left unattended. I feel grateful that not only my possessions but my personal safety is under Shakeyta's supervision, and I highly recommend this Public Storage location. In conclusion, as a customer, I would like to commend the upper management of Public Storage for selecting Shaketa to manage and operate this facility.

I have three units with public storage and i have met various customer service agents but none of them were as professional,resourceful,helpful and detailed as Shakeyta. she was amazing, i had an awesome experience and i would definitely recommend.

DO NOT rent from Public Storage. My stuff was here for less than a year and was destroyed by mold. I pay for a "climate controlled" unit and my rent was raised while I was here. Only to discover my $500 bedframe was destroyed by mold because water is leaking into one corner of my unit. The rent continues to increase but no basic improvements are made to the facilities. The gate is often broken, the door to enter the building where my unit is housed does not lock, and the latch is broken as if the door’s been kicked in so anyone can walk in. There are rat traps out so they apparently have a rodent problem. If you are stupid enough (like me) to rent from them, don't use their insurance. Look up reviews for Sedgwick CMS, the company that processes claims for Orange Door Insurance, the one you will buy if you buy insurance from Public Storage. The reviews are terrible. The company and its representatives are worse than can even be put into words. They will make endless excuses to not pay for legitimate claims. They are rude and have no compassion for people who just lost hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. Currently they refuse to pay for my claim because I can't prove where water is coming from in my unit. Despite me sending several rounds of pictures of the growing puddles in my unit, because I’m not willing to play inspector gadget, scouring my dark, dirty unit on hands and knees or on a ladder for the source of the leak- which should really be the responsibility of the property staff- the insurance company has decided it is "normal" condensation "that just happens". “Just happens” in my climate controlled unit that my rent was just raised on???? The staff at the actual Public Storage are nice enough, but they will not go out of your way to help you, especially when it comes to dealing with insurance claims, or problems in your unit that are really the fault of the property. Be warned: do not rent from here!!!

I left my belongings here and about 99% of everything in my unit was ruined. There was a leak in unit causing mold to most of my stuff. I didn't discover it until it was too late. There was mold on everything I was able to salvage a couple things but most of the things I had to leave behind. When I found my unit the way I did the property manager refused to come down and look at the damage. When it came down for me to get my money for insurance purposes I had to wear a mask because the mold was so bad. They never tell you in you lease to turn in your lock in order to terminate your lease so they tried to charge me for another month on a damaged unit. The property manager is the rudest person you will ever encounter in customer service ever. The property manager was so rude that she tried to tell me that I still had to pay for another month on a damaged unit despite the fact that she never came down and looked at the unit. I ended up speaking with the district manager and it turns out that the property manager never took into account my damage to unit. Never rent from them. The rent continues to increase. They have rats. They do not keep up with maintenance. They do not stay during normal business hours. They are not professional. Take your business anywhere else.

This has been a really good experience. I've had my storage unit for aver two years and other than the seemingly random fee increases, and the times when the gate totally didn't work ( for months on end), it was convenient. Although, I must say I didn't realize how cold it could get in my storage area because it's not temperature controlled. Staff is nice.

The gates, lights, doors, and many other things need repairs. The staff almost never answer the phones or return phone calls and are generally very unorganized. We had to wait nearly a month for someone to finally cut the lock on our door and give us the new keys.

This office offers really good service. Daleisha (hopefully spelled correctly) is awesome. Answered all my questions and explained well. Rest of staff here are all very helpful as well. Definitely Plan to go here if in need of storage place.

I am so frustrated and upset at this place. We have been with Public Storage for 4 years and have nothing but issues. Rent goes up, AC is broken, gate is broken, door to the unit is not closed, AC is broken again, gate is broken again, can never get an answer to when it will all be fixed. Climate control, pest free and secure all FALSE! Advise: find another storage facility place! We went this past weekend and the gate is still broken, going on a month now. To top it all off, we were going through out belongings only to find mouse droppings and two of our boxes that had clothing in it, now were thrown out due to the mice getting into the boxes and making nests. We pay over 300 a month for this privilege!!! We have a inside unit, I called a competitors site, I can get a walk up unit (i.e. outside facing) same size for 173 dollars a month. Why do i want to stay with Public Storage? You have store managers who aren't responsive, a district manager who doesn't care or address our concerns, seem like it's the same old script they are reading from. Yes we are aware of the problem and no we don't have an eta as when it will be fixed, oh and by the way your rent on you unit is going up again. If this is the kind of customer service your company is providing why do i want to stay a customer of yours? I posted this comment a week ago, I still have not received a phone from anyone, I tried call Public Storage directly there is no option to speak to a live person. This company has horrible customer service. There annual rate increases are exorbitant, when we started 4 years ago our move in rate was 154, now it's 314 that is almost a 50% increase.

I've had a unit at this property for a couple of years. Daleisha provides great customer service. Instructions regarding payment due date, prorates, and late fees are a little difficult to understand.

We rented a 10 X 15 storage unit at a cost of $189 per month in the fall of 2011. The cost of the unit increased every year by at least 10%. By July of 2016 the unit was costing us $310 per month. We decided that the unit was too costly and when we notified Public Storage that we were planning on moving out we were informed that the rent is not prorated for the month you move out. So if you move out on the early in the month, you pay for the entire month. We spend several months a year out of the country, and the only mechanism that Public Storage will use to inform you of a rent increase is via paper mail. We missed increases because we were unable to receive snail mail. Public Storage would then email us to tell us we were behind on the rent and would charge us a $50 late fee. Furthermore, Public Storage does not offer a discount to their long-term customers; in fact they are penalized. When we moved out of the unit, the representative told us that a new customer would pay $250 per month for the same unit. Aside from the financial aspect there were other things about Public Storage that were unsatisfactory in our experience. Security is a big marketing point. Over a several month period last summer the entrance gate at the facility we used was broken and the general public had access to the property all hours of the day and night. We talked with the district manager about the situation and she informed us that it was out of her hands. The replacement was ordered and it would take several months for it to arrive and be installed. In general the units were relatively clean with a few spiders as one might expect, but during the last nine months mice started moving into our unit. We were told that some customers were storing food in their units (which the contract specifically states is not allowed) and they were unable to get in touch with them to address the problem. Public Storage requires you to buy a lock specifically made for their units and to the best of our knowledge is unusable elsewhere. When we moved out we wanted to return the lock for a refund but were told that we bought it and it was ours “to keep.” In general we were dissatisfied with the service and cost of the units at Public Storage and recommend that people look elsewhere for their storage needs.
