When I was looking for a long term storage unit in the metro west area, nothing came close to the Southborough Public Storage in terms of price and location. Location wise, this place is right next to the rt 9 east/west exit. This makes it extremely convenient to drive in from one direction drop/pick something from the storage and easily go east or west (those who take rt 9 know what I am talking about). The building is newer, you open the automated doors sitting in your vehicle using their app, there are plenty carts available every time I been there and everything is clean. Now, for the customer service, I want to specially call out the manager, John. He was extremely helpful through out my experience there, be it transferring units, showing me around how everything works around the building, taking care of any billing questions etc. He is a super nice guy and makes you feel welcome with his calm demeanor especially for those who haven't rented storage units before. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for location, price and most of all a very helpful and down to earth manager. Pros: * Brand-new facility * Good rates for the moment * Drive-in bay is great for bad-weather days * Owners try to make necessary fixes quickly * On-site staff are helpful Cons: * Electronic door access and/or bay door system has been unreliable a few times. If you want to be 100% sure you can get in, go during the hours when staff is on site. Summary: All in all, I'm pretty happy with the Southborough Public Storage. Early on, there were several annoying/security issues, but the owners appear to be quickly going through the punch list on these items and getting them fixed. Climate control has been OK, with the caveat that my time at the building has mostly been in the winter with cold temps and relatively low outdoor humidity. I have three units across two floors, and temperatures and humidity have tracked pretty consistently, with temps in the mid-50s to low 60s and indoor humidity ranging from the low 20s to the high 40s. Be sure to read the Public Storage blog "What is Climate-Controlled Storage" to get a better sense of what they mean when they say "climate controlled." My biggest gripe recently has been that the electronic access system went offline on a Sunday and wouldn't let me in. I ended up driving a car-load of items back home and wasting a couple hours as a result. I know they're working with their contractor on a fix, but as noted above, if you want to guarantee that you'll be able to get into your unit, go during the staffed hours. If they can get the entry system 99.9% reliable (and don't raise their rates dramatically in the near future) they'll be five stars.

I looked around for storage in the area and this was by far the best. It is brand new and in fantastic shape. It is right off Route 9 and easily accessible to the Mass Pike. John was extremely helpful in answering all my questions. Check in was trouble free. This was my first experience with self storage and definitely a good one.
