Opened a new unit. It was amazingly seamless. All online. Went there and had a lock waiting for me in the unit. All automated. I wish everything in life worked this smooth. Then Peg, the manager, called me to check in and make sure I was completely satisfied. Simple stuff but perfectly done. Bravo.

I recently rented a unit at the Public Storage at 3500 FM 528 in Friendswood, TX, and it all went well for me. The property manager, Nick, who also has to spend time managing another Public Storage property, was still able to cordially show his available units to me and help me to get completely set up with a unit in that facility. Nick took his time and answered all my questions and requests, so that when I moved in, everything went smoothly and as expected. Nick even sent me a note when I had left and had not fully locked the unit door, so that I was able to correct that at my earliest convenience. Also, I have found the facility, as a whole, to be neat and clean, and have not seen any evidence of rodents or insects. Overall, I am very pleased with my choice of this property and its manager, and my experiences with them.
Like this storage facility with secure indoor access to my storage unit. Good lighting around the access areas and ramps at night The facility manager, Nick, walks & cleans the hallways. Nick was very helpful with my sign up process and if he is at another facility if I call, he responds quickly. There is a large trash container outside, so no trash pile up inside. No bug or rodent droppings in hallways or my storage area.

So easy. I reserved a small unit (5x10) online. Showed up with my own lock, returned their's in the drop box, and started storing my things. It's very secure and I've never had a problem finding a cart. Sarah from the location contacted me to make sure everything went smoothly and that I was all set up. It could not have been easier.

She always returns my calls if she is unable to answer the phone because she is helping another customer. She always calls me to remind me that my payment is due or past due. I'm adding to my original comment below, as I recently moved out of my unit and had the pleasure of dealing with one of the kindest and most attentive customer service representatives ever -- Cindy, the current manager at this location. She has a good heart for helping people and she made my move-out as easy as it could be. I moved out the day my rent was due and she voluntarily called someone in the corporate office to ask them not to bill me for the upcoming month. I don't know if PS corporate has improved their billing transparency for new customers, which I noted below (4 years ago), but they have done a good job of hiring outstanding managers for this location. Thanks, Cindy!

I have serious misgivings about Public Storage's business practices: be aware that the unit you reserve might not be climate-controlled; when you arrive the location, you will be assessed additional charges not mentioned by the reservation web site or sales rep (I consider this flagrantly deceptive); and Public storage may or may not provide dollies or carts for transporting your stuff from vehicle to locker (fortunately, this location had 2 available "as a courtesy" -- but I advise you check to verify they have these before you show up). That said, Krista was extraordinarily helpful and she did a great job of easing the pain of learning how Public Storage conducts business. Initially, I was inclined to leave and look for a locally-owned storage business, but Krista's friendliness won me over. My 5 stars are mainly for Krista. Other pros: the units are clean and the A/C works well in the climate-controlled section. Access is not provided 24 hours -- check to verify the hours.
