Brian walks the premises daily good worker and safe location
I am currently having a horrible experience with this place. We were behind on rent so they apparently placed some kind of lock on the door so we wouldn't be able to get into our unit. Okay. I understand that part. Then we paid the $200 plus dollars to not have our unit going foreclosure. And then we got an email and a text message saying that we need to take the lock off and take it to the office or we will be charged the price of the lock. A few days ago we received a text and email saying that we've been charged for a lock. And the email said. Enjoy your new lock. I'm not even in the same city that the storage unit is in. I don't understand the problem. I've never reported the ceiling that's falling in and the rat feces that are all over my unit when I went in to check on it last a few months ago. Work out of town from where this unit is And I should not have to be responsible for a lock that I didn't put on the unit and I'm nowhere near.
This next note is for public storage in Carrollton .. The name that it's under is Heather Henderson. That way you know who this unit belongs to. I expect you to fix this situation. Thank you
After renting a unit here for three years, I can confidently say I will never use Public Storage again.
Over those three years, my monthly rent increased by over $100. Despite paying significantly more than when I started, nothing about the facility improved, it actually got much worse than the day I moved in. The property was poorly maintained, and the restrooms were frequently dirty or partially out of order.
The customer service was equally disappointing. Every time I had to go into the office for assistance, I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff simply by asking for help. Basic customer service shouldn't make customers feel like they're interrupting something more important.
The move-out experience was the final straw. During one of our moving weekends, my husband and I couldn't get out of the facility. The app wouldn't connect, the keypad at the gate wasn't working, and no one from the office came out to assist us. After several minutes, the gate finally opened on its own, and the only explanation we can come up with is that someone in the office opened it remotely with a clicker.
After multiple phone calls, someone finally called me back to say the gate was broken and would be left locked open until it can be repaired. Sure enough, when we returned a few days later, the gate was still standing wide open, leaving the entire property accessible to anyone. That didn't exactly inspire confidence in the security we had been paying top dollar for.
When I went into the office to let them know both my husband's unit and mine were completely emptied and ready to be closed out, the employee barely acknowledged me. He scribbled the unit numbers on a notepad, said we would get an email once he got eyes on it, and immediately went back to whatever he was doing without another word.
After three years of steadily increasing rent, poor maintenance, security issues, and consistently indifferent customer service, I'm relieved to be done with this location. I won't be renting from any Public Storage again, and I can't recommend it to anyone looking for a secure, well-managed storage facility.

Update Memorial Day 2026
Current customer at the Realty Rd location in Carrollton, TX and this has been the worst storage experience I’ve ever had.
I reported a ceiling issue when I moved in during January 2026 and received no response. When I returned in April, I found approximately 75% of my belongings damaged by water and mold along with a horrible odor throughout the unit.
I was promised a manager callback within 24–48 hours. It has now been over 9 days with no response, no accountability, and no resolution from management or corporate despite emails and public outreach.
While cleaning out the unit, I also discovered a dead rat inside the storage unit. Completely unacceptable and unsanitary conditions.
I am still trying to get answers regarding who is responsible for removing and properly disposing of hazardous mold-damaged items caused by facility negligence.
I have full documentation and photos. Do not rent here.

I am a current customer with Public Storage (Realty Rd, Carrollton, TX). Rented in Jan 2026 and reported a ceiling issue at move-in—no response.

Put a parking space on hold. Had an appointment to view the parking spot at 2pm. Arrived at 1:50pm. Doors are locked but a Toyota van is parked near the office door. Called the number on the door, sent my call overseas and the person just tried to get me to pay to start renting the spot. Waited until 2:30pm and still no one. Lack of staff and lack of communication has lost my business.
Marina was so awesome she came in the morning to work this property so she can meet up with me I won an auction unit she was pleasant and kind.

Beware the Rate Increases:
I'm not unreasonable in terms of not understanding the occasional rate hike. But over the course of a year more than 5 rate hikes were done that DOUBLED the cost of the rental unit before 1 year. I ended up moving everything into the same size storage unit (Half the cost) in July and they sent me my first rate hike in August of over 33%/ 100 dollars a month. Expect to pay exponentially more, incredibly quickly so do not trust the rates here.
Got a message that my storage lock was not properly locked and rushed over to see what happened. Cheryl was very patient and wonderful with me showing me how to lock my locker correctly since this was my first time doing it. Great service and I was in and out quickly.

Excellent customer service here at this location. They're always there for you, whether you're moving in or out or just have a question or need some help with something.
I stored my things here for over a year and a half. It was a very safe location - I didn't even mind stopping by here at night by myself - and I never had any problems with pests of any kind or anything getting damp or wet. It was also very convenient, being able to just drive up right in front of my unit.
Keep in mind, as well, if you live in the city, the prices here are much better than toward the center of Dallas. Pay less to have your things kept more safely and likely with more convenient access to your unit.

Stay far away from this place! Awful security and they are not willing to help when your property is stolen. Another tenant was seen on their video surveillance stealing my trailer and Public Storage wouldn’t even try contacting the tenant! Apparently there is/was a known theft ring on this property and it’s common for tenants to use the “free month” of rental as a means to steal property. The tenant propped the gate open around 7:30pm so they could make a quick getaway. Although someone lives on property they didn’t notice the gate was open until the next day! I was told once employees are off work, they are not required to keep an eye on the facility. What’s the point of having someone live on-site? The tenant cut through log chains, a tong lock and a wheel boot. They likely spent at least 30-45 minutes trying to free up the trailer and managed to go unnoticed. There have been multiple storage unit break-ins at this location as well. The company is not willing to help at all.

I was at this location a couple of days ago , helping a friend with picking Up: g some stuff out of their unit for their upcoming move in of their new home ....almost finished for the day, ... i noticed the front desk guy walking on the property(i think his name is Brian),in any case i tried to get his attention as he walked by my friend and i,but he payed no attention as he was more occupied with whatever he was listening to on his headphones, ..as he couldn't hear me shouting but he looked bothered, and was not customer friendly at all....and because of the non- professional , along with the non-customer service, public storage guarantee, ...i decided not to open up a unit here at this time.
Haven’t been there personally, but I’ve met one employees and they were very nice!
I would be interested in updating my rating, however, my experience thus far has been disappointing. Despite being within business hours, I have not found anyone on site. Additionally, the gate is not operational, and the storage room has improperly secured insulation, which has resulted in physical discomfort such as headaches and coughing. At this stage, I am contemplating relocating my belongings to an alternative storage facility.
Update: I must warn others that I recently spoke with corporate and was informed that they typically do not have staff on site full-time because they make frequent runs to other locations. This information raises concerns about the reliability and accessibility of this facility, especially for renters who require regular access to their stored items. As such, I advise caution before renting from this facility.

They put your unit up for auction despite you making your payments on time. Just found out that my lock was cut off and when I asked the employee on site that they placed it up on auction despite my account showing it was up to date on payments. This was an error that was made on their end which resulted in someone cutting off my lock when I wasn’t present. All I got was not getting charged for a new lock as an apology.

They don't answer the phone even if you leave a voicemail.
They are not helpful when you try to find the storage the your really need, they are just there to charge you fees. They are not very knowledgable of what your needs and how much space you might need. Even if you try contacting them on their website, the chat representatives are not helpful either. You are on your own.
