This location deserves one-star due to my interaction with the phone service rep designated for the Kahala location. I say phone because no one was there when I appeared in-person, despite showing up at noon during the listed business hours.
The service rep on the phone stated if you’re looking to reserve a unit, you MUST book ahead of time online first. However, this conflicts with what I am being told by other service reps at locations in Kapiolani and Dillingham. Every service rep told me that if I made a reservation online, then I am ONLY locking in the “online rate”, NOT the locker/storage unit itself. The locker/storage unit would be assigned to me randomly. We want to see the units in-person to get a look-and-feel of the available units and facility before making a commitment.
Overall, the customer service over the phone was VERY passive and unhelpful. I kept getting cut off and referred to further services online, while trying to get my name and phone number. I left the call very frustrated as I was able to view the available units in the other locations by walking in. I am especially frustrated with the lack of in-person service during their business hours.

The storage area worked out fine. But the office doesn’t have anyone there most of the time. So if you need assistance, you have to call customer support and it is very difficult to get to a person to talk to.
This location has fantastic staff. Miss Donna helped me go thru the online admin items, navigate the paperwork…and Miss Hau gave me a tour. Answered questions. Thank you both!!!!

Negatives not 24 hours. And most times only one staff on duty. So if u call, lots of times you have to leave a message. No one in office if the worker is doing rounds, or helping a customer by the lockers, or on one of the floors..
I needed assistance with finding a storage unit on short notice and was very stressed out. As a business owner, I was impressed by the quality customer service I received. When touring the units, Rose provided excellent customer service and was very helpful. With my experience, I would recommend the Waialae branch to my friends and family. This facility is clean and the office staff is outstanding (and Donna is exceptional). When I failed to lock my unit properly they called me within hours; when I've asked them to check on something they've done it cheerfully. My only complaint has been the regular rate increases, which I understand are company-wide and are not in the control of local managers. This year's rate increase was unreasonably high.

There is a lot of theft at Public Storage. It is a systemic problem. The one on Kapiolani is legendary for theft. It is also an issue for Waialae Ave
