Update: no wonder it’s so cheap They’re going to high jack your property. I got here at 7:10 with a full car load and despite TWO CARS being in the parking lot and all the lights on, the access gate was closed so that I could not get in the building at all. I tried calling the PEOPLE INSIDE but got sent straight to a voicemail. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY; IT IS UNRELIABLE. Now I have to go back and take all the stuff in my car back up to my apartment and do it all again another day. I will be doing this at a place that doesn’t lock you out of your unit during business hours. Original post: Very surprised by how affordable it is. Very clean facility with carts to help you move your stuff. Should have done it sooner.
Pamela was so helpful! I got into my unit and it was way too small for what I needed so I went to the office and she immediately found me another one that would suit my needs. She quickly drew up the agreement and explained the transfer of payment from the old to the new unit. Because I had a short rental period, she also helped me understand what my payment would be and the timings for move out. She is very knowledgeable, fast, and kind! Would highly recommend storing stuff here again. The app makes it super easy to access too.

Edit from Sep 2025: this has been changed to a 1 star rating because you’ve given everyone 2 weeks to move to another public storage to do some renovations (threatening to move our stuff at our own expense) with only a single month of free rent at the new location. That’s terrible planning for what’s supposed to be a long term storage solution.

The location at 2690 Geary is wonderful! I only needed extra space for a few months as I moved from one apartment to another, across the city. Even downsized once in the middle as I was able to get stuff transitioned out. Pamela and Robert were wonderfully helpful from the first checkin through the switch in unit to the final checkout. Communication was clear and comprehensive. The app to manage, pay, and access the building was very user friendly as well. This location does NOT have 24/7 access, but that actually made me feel better about the security of my stuff. If they’re not onsite, it’s not open. Worked for me. When I need extra space again, I’ll definitely been visiting Pamela and Robert at the Public Storage at 2690 Geary.

This place is super solid. Super attentive and helpful staff, clean facilities, good security protocols, zero complaints. I never intended to keep my storage locker forever, but moving out felt like moving out of a friends apartment, hahaha. I interacted with Pamela the most and she is a pro through and through. On my check out day, I interacted with Buddy and he too was professional and accommodating. If I need storage again, this is the first place I will look!

I’ve used other storage places before, but this is by far the cleanest. This particular building uses access codes to go in and out. The well thought out process makes me feel safe about my belongings. The staff, especially Pamela, is nice and amazingly helpful. I don’t feel like a number, but rather a well valued customer.

Unfortunately reserving a unit does not mean you get the unit. I reserved a few days in advanced of when I could go get the unit and they called me the day of my rental to say that the units in the size I wanted were all gone.
I asked the point in reserving to which I was told you “reserve the price and the size but it is first come first serve.” This is false as if I had have reserved a size then it would have been available for me. The only solution they had was to transfer my reservation to a facility nearby.
So beware that there is no point in reservations for this facility!

Awesome storage place with a freight elevator, easy location to drive around in the city, and the person who helped me (I believe it was Robert) went above and beyond - showed me multiple units, offered to check other Public Storage locations for me, helped me move a bunch of things via the freight elevator, and was generally super helpful to everyone around there. What an outstanding first impression, totally makes sense why this place is so highly rated.

Public Storage on Geary Street gets all the stars. They were a god send when I needed to move everything out of my apartment during the Covid Pandemic. The building is secure. The facility is clean and warm. The lighting is good in the units. They did some improvements in 2021 that made access to the building much easier - its all through your phone!
The real star of the show is the property manager Pamela. She responded within 15 minutes to a voicemail; Called to follow up on my move out date and was warm and welcoming.
We moved into a place that has its own storage which is why I moved out of the public storage. But if there is ever a need for more storage they will be my first call. Thank you for your service!!!

I had an incredibly positive experience with Public Storage on Geary Blvd (access via Emerson Street off of Geary). I worked with multiple managers over several years and they demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. Very clean building and a great array of very clean storage units. Plenty of parking to unload, load. I recommend this business without any reservations, or concerns.
Convenient service. Easy to get in, to grab what you need, and get out. Friendly staff. They went out of their way to help me get access into my storage when I lost my key. So I appreciate that. One of the staff employees seems to have everyone's storage number memorize and will associate that number with you if you forget your number while paying your storage bill at the front. So that's very impressive. Also, that shows that security in this building is outstanding since that employee must be on constant hallway patrol Overall, I'm satisfied! I would highly recommend this place.
