Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

This Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy applies to personal data defined as “consumer health data” subject to the Washington State My Health My Data Act (MHMDA) that Public Storage ("Public Storage", "we", "us", and "our") collects as a regulated entity under MHMDA. It applies to Washington residents and those whose consumer health data is collected in Washington. Consumer health data means personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to a consumer and that identifies the consumer's past, present, or future physical or mental health status. This Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy does not apply where an exception or exemption applies. Consumer Health Data We Collect

If you visit our properties, we may collect video surveillance that could include consumer health data. You may also choose to provide information about your health so that we can accommodate a disability to provide you with products or services you are requesting. If you were to get injured at our property and/or make a claim or file a lawsuit against us, we may collect consumer health data about you related to such incident, claim, or lawsuit. If you borrow a hand cart or dolly at one of our properties, we may hold your driver’s license or other government issued ID until you return the borrowed item. We process any deidentified consumer health data only in a deidentified fashion and will not attempt to reidentify such data.

Why We Collect and Use Consumer Health Data

We collect and use personal information, including consumer health data, as necessary to provide our storage facility products or services requested by consumers. This includes managing our properties such as keeping them accessible, safe, and secure. We also use consumer health data to run our day-to day operations and if a consumer were to get injured at our properties, we may collect and use consumer health data as necessary to help the consumer and address any claims or lawsuits resulting from such incident.

Categories of Sources

We generally collect personal information, including consumer health data, from the following categories of sources:

  • Directly from you

  • Automatically, when you visit our website or property or use our services; and

  • From service providers and third parties

Our Sharing of Consumer Health Data

The categories of third parties and other recipients with whom we may share consumer health data as necessary to provide our products and services requested by consumers are:

  • We may share each of the categories of consumer health data above as necessary to provide products and services requested by consumers with our affiliate PSCC, Inc.;

  • Vendors and service providers;

  • Related to business transfers as part of any merger, sale, and transfer of our assets, acquisition or restructuring of all or part of our business, bankruptcy, or similar event;

  • Government entities, agencies, and others as required by law.

How to Exercise Your Rights

MHMDA grants certain rights including a right of access and deletion, subject to certain exceptions. If you would like to exercise your rights under the MHMDA, please visit us at our Data Subject Request web page here. If your request to exercise a right under the MHMDA is denied, you may appeal the denial. A method for submitting an appeal will be contained in our response. If your appeal is unsuccessful, you can raise a concern or lodge a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General at www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
