Good customer service from the lady name Vanessa at the office . Thank you again .
Update 12.7.24: we are getting zero compensation for the damage to all of our belongings and the district manager, Jesse Callan has completely ignored our attempts to contact him. Absolute disgrace. Public Storage should be ashamed at how horribly they have handled this infestation. Zero integrity from anyone who works for this company. Disgusting.
I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with this company. My experience with this company has been nothing short of appalling due to a severe rat infestation in their Plano (500 Talbert Dr.) facility. Despite attempts to address this issue with the management, they have failed to take any meaningful action or accountability.
When I went to load up a few things from the unit we are renting (a supposed TEMP CONTROLLED, & INDOOR) a few weeks ago, I noticed rat droppings and a horrid smell emitting from our unit. It was also extremely hot in the building which I thought was odd considering we are paying for temp controlled. I was alone so I hurried grabbed a single item I needed and went on my way. I knew something was off. So when I went back today to retrieve more items, I was appalled at the amount of DEAD rats in my unit. We weren't able to maneuver around or step into the unit without possibly stepping on a carcass. Absolutely horrific. And the smell, I'm sure you can imagine.
Upon discovering the infestation, we immediately contacted the management, expecting prompt and effective measures to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, after 50 phone calls that led to voicemail, we were able to get ahold of the district manager, Mr. Callan and not only did they downplay the severity of the issue, but they also showed a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of their customers' belongings. On top of that - they immediately started to blame it on a customer "potentially" having food in their unit. The lack of responsibility and transparency in handling such a serious problem is unacceptable as this clearly has been an issue that was not immediately addressed.
It is incredibly disheartening to see a company operate with such a lack of integrity. Customers trust storage facilities to keep their possessions safe, yet Public Storage has failed to uphold this basic obligation. I strongly urge anyone considering using their services to think twice, as the risk of damage to your belongings and the frustration of dealing with unresponsive management is simply not worth it.
This experience has been a costly and stressful ordeal, and all of mine and my roommates belongings are completely ruined. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and prompts Public Storage to address their serious, disgusting shortcomings as we will be taking legal action.
This is a nice building with a variety of storage options but it is infested with rats and mice. I came back to my unit after a month to find every single box covered in mice droppings and the climate control section REEKS of animal urine.
Honestly it’s disgusting.
What can I say. Vanessa is amazing. Best customer service I had. Thank you for being so kind
I just want to give Vanessa a shout out. I’m on vacation and got a called from my public storage In Florida to sign my lease. Vanessa made it quick and fast. Very friendly and explain every detail perfectly thank you
Taking a moment to post a thank you to Vanessa at the Talbot location. I will spare you the details of how she helped me and simply write that as a small business owner, Vanessa is exactly the type of employee I would want in my company. She was knowledgeable and helpful in a manner that exceeded the requirements. Thank you Vanessa!
Vanessa was great . Very friendly
Vanessa was great, very friendly great customer service
Stop by to take care of my payment and Ms vanessa was wonderful. She helped me set up my account was very patient and gave the best service
I visited Public Storage this morning (10/18/2024) and spoke with a very kind manager. She helped me with all the questions I had and she was very kind.
Stopped by to make a payment and Ms Vanessa was very friendly.
The building has a rat infestation and the manager/employees knew but failed to notify me. I had thousands of dollars worth of items destroyed, and manager is ignoring my calls and emails. Insurance barely covers damage, and Public Storage refuses to refund me my rent. I paid for an air-conditioned unit but the building was not cooled when I went in. Worst experience with a company I've ever had.
RAT Infestation!!!
I reported to them and called the corporate office few months back and they gave me assurances that 100% will be taken care of! I asked them to call me so I can let someone in to fumigate and was told no need. There are rat droppings everywhere and no one EVER cleans or sweeps! I have climate controlled units and the air is out most of the time and the rent has TRIPLED last 2 years!!! I just want to know if the insurance I am forced to pay monthly covers any of my damaged items. I paid extra for climate control because I have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars worth of items in there! The renters should get together for class action suit! I called many times and its always the answering machine for GM and the other employees just tell you lies! The bulbs are always out front of my unit-not to see the rat droppings and dirt I guess. The good ratings are from before Public Storage took over!!!
Please respond to your negligent actions!
It is a terrible experience whenever I go there. On the 31st of July and then August 1st, there was no one in the office for the two days I was trying to move and no way to get in because I hadn't been assigned a new unit. No one ever answers the phone and all you get is a recording loop. So there is no help. I was overcharged for months with my original unit and then when I was finally assigned a new one, it was in a diffent building, so everything had to be loaded in the car and moved to the new location. There is only one flatbed, as far as I can tell, in the new location and it is always being used, so I have to wait. The rent goes up every 6 months, so be aware of that. If you want to stay longer it eventually costs an arm and a leg. That is why I moved in the first place.
My opinion is that it is a terribly run company, and when the rent goes up in 6 months I will be looking for someplace that is not a Public Sorage.
No AC in a climate controlled unit, bulbs were out (despite the renter reporting this multiple times) infested with rats, one of the two elevators were broken, it smelled terrible and the one restroom that was working was dirty and had no paper towels. For $400 a month, one would expect better. I am not renting a unit but did help move someone out and was floored. We talked to other people while we were there that were also moving out do to very similar experiences. From the experience I had and the conversations I had with renters it is pretty apparent this place is going down hill. I don’t normally leave reviews like this but a 4.7 seems extremely high for this place and I feel like people should know what they’re about to get it to.
Nick, I was proud of the customer service that I received at public storage.
Do not store anything here. Rats have infested the units destroying everything my roommate and I own. The A/C also wasn’t on. Management has taken zero accountability nor have they offered any sort of viable resolution. They have offered to pay 4 months of rent back to me, but that does not replace the thousands of dollars worth of furniture, TVs, and appliances that have been ruined by rat feces, urine, and BLOOD. Public Storage corporate should be ashamed of how they are handling this. Greedy doesn’t even come close to describing these people.
RAT INFESTED!!!!!! DONT RENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
I rented here for less and a year while my house was being built and all of our furniture was eaten by rats!! There was rat droppings on all of our belongings! We paid extra for the insurance they offered and they only offered to give us $200 for the damages. We lost a full living room set, couches, coffee table, dinning table, chairs, TV stand and side tables. It would’ve been cheaper to throw our furniture away then to rent this HORRIBLE storage unit!! We paid $3k+ for the rent in total and the new furniture we had to purchase. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!
They were formally Plano All Storage. They got bought out in 2022. I’ve been at the storage unit for almost five years before they became public Storage. They created a monopoly on the market and price gouged. I used to pay $234 for a 10 x 30 storage unit when I moved in in 2022. They have raised my rates from $331-$581 in the last year and a half, and in one month, they went up a total of $120… I move out immediately. I own a few companies myself, and I do not respect this. I asked employees if their pay had increased and if they received less than when they charged less before Storage bought them out. Before they became public Storage, they provided regular cards with your gate code. After becoming public Storage, they said they no longer provide those cards and gave me a sticky note with my card on it. After increasing their prices and profit while paying the employees less and cutting out nearly all expenses, even down to a cheap card to put your code on. Please take a look at my payment history with Public Storage. I would never have used them if I had had another option. They are greedy, unreasonable, have no business ethics, and, as the rest of the customers have said, they have a rat infestation. Your stuff will get destroyed. They will only refuse to offer you a discount or a free month or have you go through the insurance they provide, which only pays $250 for any Problem, infestation, or animal. They’re buying up many other storage units, which is happening nationwide. If you can, stick to your local ones and support them because there’s no decency in Public Storage.
The facility is extremely dirty and smelly all the time. I've haven't been once where it's clean. No one sweeps or does any kind of cleaning but they consistently raise rent. My initial storage rate was $89 and now I pay $152 for the same unit. It's ridiculously priced for the conditions. They also never answer the phone. It's also always hot inside and never actually temperature controlled which is very deceptive.
Do not store your stuff here, they have a rat infestation, we have already had to make a claim from rats destroying furniture and other household items. Have spoken with people inside about setting traps in my unit but they didn’t get around to doing it, I was handed an air freshener to keep the unit from smelling so i had to take it upon myself to try and trap the rats. Not to mention there were atleast 3 dead rats right outside the exit door and about 20 of that outdoor box traps sitting my the dumpster
manager is never in the location, he is rude, he is not professional, he says that he has a lot of work and does not have time to attend to everyone, it is obvious that he is not happy at his job, he notices that he is under the influence of something, he spends time with his boyfriend on the front desk.
He is a very skinny guy, with a hair bun
Do no go here for storage. Our unit and building is infested with rats. Movers we hired were attacked in early May. Since then we have received incompetent lie after lie. Still cannot tell us what is being done or when. The advice we received is that most people are abandoning their units. Mine includes an expensive sofa, first edition books and family childhood items collected over 20 years. Plus numerous other items. I just want my items removed safely.
There’s never anyone in the office. They won’t answer the phone or call you back you always get redirected to the corporate number. The signs and maps in the buildings aren’t correct either since they’ve changed bigger units into smaller ones. There’s also never any carts available and your rate will jump twice a year… Take your business elsewhere save yourself the headache.
Was assisted by Verenice from another location at this location and she was awesome. Also had the pleasure of being helped by Tanya as well. Very good service!
UPDATE:
This review is for the Talbert Lane location in Plano, Texas. I have only been with them for a little over a year and they have gone up 2x!! One of the gates is always broken and it takes forever (months) for it to be repaired. Meanwhile everyone off the street can just walk in. Why am I paying outrageous fees for a non-secured space! While I understand inflation, going up $50 or more dollars every six months is ridiculous!!
ORIGINAL REVIEW
Let's just say that I am woefully disappointed. I choose this facility due to the close proximity of where I live and for the "reasonable" price for a climate controlled unit. What a bait and switch! Today I get a notice that the rent on my space is going up to $196 (from $150). Really! I've only been in my space 5 months and recently got another unit with you guys! I moved from another storage company that I had been with for 3 years because they went up to an ungodly price. I had heard such great things about Public Storage but as stated, I am woefully disappointed in the price jump. I understand that prices increase but for new customers, that sort of jump is ridiculous. I read the contract and know that they have the right to change their prices at any time, but in less than a year?? So for anyone who reads the reviews, watch out. Don't fall for the cheap discount when you rent your unit. They make up for that later. It seems like everyone is price gouging these days. I guess that's the new norm for customer service.
Great customer service. Tanya is always super friendly and helpful
Wonderful staff! It’s safe and clean units.
I got a call from Tanya saying I needed to update my info as I've rented a storage unit there almost since they opened. I stopped by and Tanya was there to help me. She's a pleasure to deal with! Happy, smiling and upbeat! Thank you, Tanya! Customer service like yours is a rarity!
The storage unit building is always clean, with flat bed carts to use and large elevators to get to the floor you need.
Tanya Shade was an excellent agent today
Got a new unit with Tanya today who was extremely welcoming and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with my unit location and accommodate my unique needs. Thanks Tanya!
I can't say enough wonderful things about Tanya at Public Storage. She has been so helpful, courteous, professional, and understanding that my experience could not have been better. I'm so glad I chose Public Storage and found Tanya!
Sucks that a bathroom is not available for tenants with the amount of money that is being spent.
Very up-to-date. However, no one ever answers the phone when you call. They don’t return any calls. And there is never anyone working in the office. There is no way that you can actually talk to someone to rent an additional unit inside of the same building that your current unit is in. This place is horrible
Second Follow-up:
Hoping that the District Manager who reached out to me after I left the unfavorable review will contact me again. Today I received a notice from Allied Interstate LLC (a debt collector) that said I owed them the amount that was refunded to me.
Follow-up:
The same day I left this review a District Manager reached out to me to find out the details of this situation. After discussion the monthly charge was reversed and he assured me that there was a breakdown at the "We Care" call processing center - my call should have been forwarded to him and he would have reversed the charge at that point. The DM wanted to assure me that Public Storage is a people-centered business and their reputation mattered to them. I greatly appreciate Public Storage reaching out to me after leaving my review and doing what many would consider "the right thing."

Does a storage company that does the right thing exist?
FIRST lesson learned: climate controlled does not mean A/C. My unit was a 10x25 first floor unit which was very convenient as I could drive up to it, however, I wouldn't say it was climate controlled. That is not the real issue - just want to help educate anyone reading this.
MOST IMPORTANT lesson learned: I moved out on the 1st of the month - because my apartment lease (like so many others) started on the 1st. Speaking to the PS employee onsite I was given a "We Care" phone number to discuss the possibility of waiving or prorating the rent for the 30 1/2 days I would not be occupying the unit.
I called the number and was told there was no way that would happen.
Not waiving or prorating the monthly rent is a deliberate act on this company's part to take advantage of individuals and their situations. I can only imagine the number of others that have met the same demise of being unable to move into a new place until the 1st of the month...and those same people have moved out of their storage place on the 1st and have been forced to pay the entire months rent? I occupied the unit less than 1% of the month and was charged 100% of the rent. Additionally there is a good chance that my unit will be rented out again prior to the end of the month and they will collect a second rent for the same space.
Public Storage corporate should be ashamed of taking advantage of people - many of whom may find themselves in desperate need of the money that a greedy corporation takes from them "because they can."
I have autopay and it says my code is not working. How is that possible? I would understand if I didn't pay but I'm paying. Wasting my time and money. Even my tap in through the app isn't working. Plus your doubling my rent ? Save money and rent somewhere else
Team was great. In and out in a flash!
Their "climate controlled" units are like 90 degrees. The drive-through design is terrible - limited parking and the "drive-through" gets clogged with vehicles blocking access to the exit. Good luck trying to get a moving truck through there.
Very nice and helpful. Clean environment
Jill and John were so helpful!! Wonderful facility, very clean and easy to navigate.
Shocking. In 1 year & 4 months, same unit jumped 81% (near double; let's round to +$100). *Zero* changes to unit/space. Last visit, tipped past broken glass on the floor, no nearby areas to place any waste (was told "Go to Walmart and dump it there"), zero notice on increased rates at any point. This is a masterclass in "How to Fail at Customer Service While Maximizing Profit 101". (And yes, I am fully aware real estate in Plano and Texas, demographic changes (everyone moving to TX), etc. I'm certain there are more transparent and customer-centric services out there; this is not one of them.
They have gone up $100 each year since they bought out All Storage. I pay over $400 a month for a unit. RIDICULOUS
Update review after new owner
Pubic Storage customer service was extremely rude to my wife when she was trying to get help for my mother-in-law who was stuck inside the building due to the doors not working to leave. Thankfully another customer showed up before she had to call the fire department to get out, who knew how to reset the door. That customer stated that it happens all the time. I’m not sure in what world that would be acceptable except to this business.
Not ADA compliant
I’ve been using this location for a year or more and can’t use my units due to the elevators being down with no date that they will be back in service. I was told the stairs are open, but I’m a disabled veteran and can’t keep climbing stairs with heavy objects. They say that they can’t give me any other units either. I’m only giving one star because there’s no option for zero. Looks like it’s time to find someone else that can actually deliver on their end of the business.
Update
Public Storage has bought out this place and seems to be making some improvements but still has problems with elevators and the office staff both temp and permanent, lack in the customer service department.
The staff were very welcoming and Jill and John helped my family and I when we wanted to change membership. They helped us get the best deal on what we wanted! Very happy with level of customer service!
John was very helpful. Great customer service and I really appreciate his patience and kindness.
Jill was excellent, I would give her 10 stars if I could.
Alaina and John is FABULOUS VERY CUSTOMER SERVICE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND
My experience with Jill and the staff was excellent! I rented a storage for about 2 1/2 years and they were always willing to assist me with any issues or concerns.
Jill really helped us by adjusting our online reservation to a unit that worked much better for us without losing our online rate. Very much appreciated!
No personnel on site when "open"
This place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. We ended up needing more space than what we originally paid for and Jill was so helpful in getting us switched to a larger unit. No hassle at all. Very pleased with everything here.
Jillian was extremely helpful! Building looks very nice and clean.
Juli was great. Facility is clean and online renting a unit was a breeze.
Jillian was a great help during my rental set up and kind enough to walk me through everything I needed to know! Definitely will send friends and family to this location!
Great experience! Thorough and positive!
Jill was super nice and very informative. She made this process so quick and easy
Jillian Office Mngr on location was professional, knowledgeable, very friendly, and very helpful. SHE'S A KEEPER!! Thanks for making my move to Dallas a little more welcoming. Thanks Ms. Jillian! 👍🏾
Jill was a life saver!!! She was thorough and answered my MANY questions! As someone new to public storage, she made sure I was well aware of everything! 10/10 would recommend this place and feel she deserves a BIG raise ((: thank you Jill!
Berenice was really helpful .excellent customer service with e rental
Amazing service by Jill. Very friendly and thorough. The whole process was very easy and fast. The building and the unit was also very clean. Easy in and out. You drive into the building and you can unload/load inside the building with elevator right next to you. So easy!!!
Super helpful and made the process super easy!!!!!
Jill was such a help, super professional. Honestly the workers are so transparent and are FOR the customer and their interests when it comes to the deal of getting a storage. I highly appreciate that. It is a new location. Very clean, they have been here for 4 years and have great management running this location.
Overall easy to make reservations and access the units - Jill is a great help! Only downside right now is that the back exit is broken (has been for a while). Takes quite a while to exit with a trailer.
I don't even have a storage unit here, magically the company keeps charging my card. I request that they stop and they say, "Just dispute it with your bank." Amazing!
Friendly and Jon was easy to work with one of the best public storage facilities in the Dallas area
Great prices and friendly staff.
Jon and Jill were very helpful, friendly and professional. Facility was very clean and presented well inside and out. There were enough elevators for all to use and well placed security cameras throughout property. I felt confident my belongings were safe.
SUPER AWESOME PLACE. YOU'LL LOVE IT.
Great facility, helpful and friendly staff, fantastic overall experience. We've rented a unit here for years and with the recent change of ownership the business has remained excellent.
I went into the office on 3/26/22 to sign my new rental agreement (which you can do online), and both staff members (Jonathan & Jill) were extremely helpful and made the experience very quick and easy.
I recommend that anyone looking for a storage facility use this business.
Jonathan and Jill were both amazing helping me set up my storage with them! I highly recommend their services as both were super nice and super professional!
